Rio Ferdinand

If anything its actually highlighting the fact that rio didn't wear the shirt so I doubt he'll be that bothered himself.

The consequence will be that the media will try to create a story out of something that shouldn't be there for them to comment on.This will deviate from the important campaign SAF seems to esteem very much

seems a very poor reaction from SAF. nothing to say should have been the answer. Rios brother was abused and his family are watching the pertetrator playing for England. the reaction from chelsea and the FA can surely leave room for the Ferdinands to feel a little aggrieved at what seems like nothing more than lip service from the FA and clubs when it comes to real definitive action on the issue.

A man should be entitled to stand up for what he believes in and be respected for it. not be forced to toe the party line or be punished. particularly on an issue so personal to the Ferdinand family. poor from Fergie

I also think Rio should trust Fergie's judgments.

Its not like Ferguson is new to the country and an amateur? He has been around for so long and probably knows a lot about the issue and how it should be tackled.

Rio isnt an amateur himself. Neither is he new to the issue being black himself. He's hardly asking the club to support his stance or other players to do what he does. He's just doing what he thinks is right. Considering his situation, SAF shouldnt be telling him what to do.

That last bit "I'l deal with it, dont you worry" is embarrassing from SAF. He's taken it personally and i fully expect Rio to be benched for the next game.

You're under the assumption that is merely political maneuvering when rightly or wrongly Fergie might wholeheartedly agree with the Kick It Out campaign.

But he's not got the right to force someone who appears to be unhappy with the organisation to wear those poxy t-shirts. Fergie should've kept his mouth shut and talked to Rio in private. As for the campaign itself, I suspect racist abuse becoming taboo...well, at least superficially, has more to do with the changes in society than 'Kick it...' or any other campaign. Some nicely printed KRO T-shirts worn by the likes of Suarez and Terry almost has comic effect, until the FA hand out strong punishment their anti-racism campaign'll seem a tad hollow.

Someone else made a good point...all this team before the individual...compare it to the Liverpool/Suarez t-shirt thing. So, so wrong...would we not want our players to exercise personal choice when it comes to stuff like this, instead of towing the company line???

Have sympathy for Rio but I'm with Fergie on this one the kick it out campaign is bigger than any one mans opinions and has done and will continue to do good work, a few incidents should not derail this and I think Rio and Roberts should have backed the campaign IMHO. I can see why Fergie is mad!

I suspect no one would've had an issue had it been an independent organisation.

What if Rio agreed to wear the tshirt before the match and then defied Ferguson at the warmups. I that'd justify Fergie's interview but then I really doubt Rio would do something like that.

Petty by Fergie, as much as I admire the great man.

I agree with you twice here.

I feel dirty and less of a human being now.

So the white man Scottish man is right on the subject of racial abuse, and the black men are wrong. Wasn't that Suarez' arguement?

So Rio is supposed to support the organisation that the FA use to pretend they're dealing with racism, while the same FA lets their manager drop him for a racist?

Sir Alex has fecked up here.

We all know how Fergie operates. Rightly or wrongly, he demands complete control. We all know that you don't blatantly disregard what he says, particularly not the day after he talks about it at a press conference.

Well on Sky he said "Its embarrassing for ME" i.e. I am embarrassed because of the press conference.

If SAF was concerned with the campaign he'd have said that Rio let the campaign down.

Look, SAF loves to be seen as the man in charge and hates when he is seen as being taken on. When SAF said in the press that everyone will wear the shirts and Rio didn't it challenges his authority. And SAF hates that more than anything else.

Rio's disobedience probably pissed Fergie off quite a bit but he brought the whole subject up before today suggesting he does believe in it.

Kick rasism out of football I´m told the text were on the shirts. Doesn´t Rio agree? Terry might be a cnut but does he think that he should be banned for life? He gets paid fecking millions by the club and only has to put a tshirt on that stands for every human beings equal worth and he can´t do that? I don´t always agree with Fergie but on this I do.

Inspiring

I'll quote it back to you, I don't think you can have read it.

You're implying, by way of some incredibly asinine logic, that Ferguson is essentially the same as Suarez. Whether or not you think Ferguson is wrong in this is irrelevant. You're calling Ferguson a racist for being too supportive of an anti-racism organization. That's really stupid.

Which word would you like me to have?

Sick of people pandering to racists, Suarez and Terry should both be sacked. (I think that's Rio's stance too and I hope he is prepared to take SAF on on this issue, it,s important that he does)
Why? The shirts didn´t say "We adore rasists" did it? Sack every player wearing it then but keep the angel RF

Im guessing but Id imagine that having seen several of these t shirt campaigns and lots of lip service to the subject the last few years Rio probably feels its time for real action and both he and his brother probably feel let down by what happened this past year. to be fair it seems football loves these sort of shows of solidarity but when confronted with real cases they are not so full of action

How could he not agree, but want Terry banned for life anyway?

I think something is lost here...

Feel Fergie's fecked up here. Should have kept his mouth shut instead of having a go at Rio.

His needless rant at Jason Roberts is why he's so angry. He was unduly harsh in him...almost insinuating that Roberts was an attention seeker, and that players at United would not follow suit.

So, with Rio taking a different stand, Fergie looks a bit cnutish and more to the point, has egg all over his face.

Hence his anger and public rebuke of Rio post match
