So it looks like his next destination will be Marseille
Interesting to see he is going to Marseille. I would have thought Brighton would have been a better choice still to Marseille.

So many big clubs needed a new manager this summer and he ends up at Marseille. But something something earmarked as Pep replacement. Has become way overrated on here.
I think its telling that Brighton were content to let him go without waiting for a club to actually come calling. I don't think he'd have got the sack as such for last season, but their form was awful after the 6-1 defeat to Villa in September, it probably suited both parties for him to leave quietly. I'm not surprised he didn't get the seat at one of the big clubs that was going this summer. Honestly, Im just glad we didn't go for him. I think United fans overrate him on the basis of them doing well against us in particular.

There were reports that talks reached a point where wages were discussed, I think with Tuchel, and I guess RdZ.
Not sure whether that means he turned us down though. If we said a certain amount and he said another, then INEOS decided not to bother going back, then who turned down who?
His new employers would obviously want to spin it that way. But considering all the top clubs that were looking for a manager this summer, why was it he ended up at Marseille? I think that probably says it all.

Big clubs need to play for the Ws not for entertainment. The 4-0 loss in Rome made him look like a fool, the last months of his PL campaign went awry and his stock plummeted.
I just had a look, Marseille actually spend quite a bit of money in the last 2 seasons over 100m each season.

It would take a lot to convince me that Marseille is a better career move for any rising manager/player. For all the troubles, there are plenty of players who have improved at United, especially youngsters. Many of them will have still won trophies as well.

He would have been under the same pressure ETH has been under if not more, so i have no idea why some people want ETH to be sacked only to be replaced by De Zerbi.

Sure, yet this a De Zerbi topic and the man still listens (too much, admittedly) to the whispers from his home country… and Milan rejecting him for Paulo fecking Fonseca on the basis he is not pragmatic enough stung him.
Why were Juventus not in for him? Or Napoli? Lazio too I think? I think there were a fair few Italian clubs changing their manager this season.

Its got to the point where playing poundshop Pep has got Kompany the Bayern job. All the while 'Vibes FC' Don Carlo is signing off with his fifth Champions League playing to the strengths of his squad, rather than playing square pegs in round holes and getting battered for half a season ala De Zerbi.
Its incredible right? Definitely the reason why people have PR. If you can persuade educated adults that your client turned down Man Utd for Marseille its definitely worth the money.

THe Di Zerbi one is funny, it comes from the same person Santi who makes up alot of rumours anyway, a French journalist who wants to help make French football feel important.

@Bepi I cannot take a Juventus fan commenting on the merit of other clubs seriously.
When he coached Sassuolo, his tactics were already pretty and progressive but he was also pretty easily found out and countered.
I don't watch Brighton much, I'm sure he's improved accumulating experience in Ukraine and PL, but down here he's still framed as a bit of a hipster coach, exciting but lacking substance for a club that has to deliver trophies.

While for smaller clubs like Lazio, with the relatively high profile career he's having, he's already beyond their reach.
