feck signing midfielders, we need new physios!

Every bloody season! starting to see why Hargreaves was so critical now

Bloody hell, was looking forward to his return.

I'll blame the medical team as they generally look to be crap.

[SARCASM]A United player out for much longer than first expected? What a surprising development.[/SARCASM]

But ahead of Tuesday's Group H match against Galatasaray, he said: "His progress has been quite slow. He hasn't started any outside work and he may be another four weeks away."

He added: "Overall, he will probably be looking at six to seven weeks since the injury. The first job now is to get him back."

He was injured five weeks ago. Another four weeks will make NINE.
How the feck can the boss get that so wrong?

This curse. It's screwing us over big time. Really don't know what's going on with all these injuries.

Not only this season,it goes way back.

not sure if this was mentioned here but heard he's shortlisted for Asian player of the year, along with ??? and Schwarzer.

not sure what he did earlier in the year but tbh based on what he's done for us I'm surprised to see him nominated.

You're not aware of what he achieved with Borussia Dortmund?

well, apart from that...... and the roads, what's he ever done for us?

ok, granted that was good, but that was 5 months of the year.

Like the Ballon d'Or, how you start the year seems to play a big factor in how you end up. If you start from January til the end of the season, you can see why

Seems our injury curse has continued. Hopefully this time the 4 weeks out is actually only four weeks

So which Asian player managed more than that in an entire year? How about in 2 entire years?

Kagawa is pretty much breaking new ground for Asian football with his importance to Dortmund and then moving to United

Disappointing news, but does lead to the usual question about the club's health/fitness set-up.

Is it really mere coincidence that we have had so many injuries in the recent seasons, and the rates of recovery do seem rather slow.

That's rather disappointing, I was hoping his return would see us shift away from using our wingers a bit.

The thing is we already have the personnel to play without our wingers. So what's to say it would have made any difference?

I just get the impression that Fergie actually rates Kagawa enough to play him in his proper position, behind RVP and Rooney and thus maybe sacrificing wingers, as opposed to Cleverley and Anderson who he seems to not want to use in that manner unless it's in smaller competitions or against meaningless opposition.

I mean he must have known what sort of player he was when he purchased him, which gives me hope that he actually wants to play in a modified system.

I really want to see him played behind Van Persie & Rooney, or have he and Rooney in tandem behind Van Persie. There's plenty of space on the field for the latter option.

I don't see a problem with not playing wingers. For me, Rafael and Evra have been far more potent as attackers out wide than our under-performing trio of wingers...and three in midfield would provide back-up when the fullbacks are out of position.

I was hoping this too, but all Fergie talks about is our wingers not getting crosses in early enough etc.

If he doesn't sway away from this approach when his two first-choice wingers are so badly off form it's not even funny, and his best winger is out of favour due to a contract dispute, then I don't see how Kagawa returning will mean he changes his ways. It will probably force Rooney out wide if anything.

To be fair he has been disappointing, might need that extra time to bulk up and climatise so probably not a bad thing.

I don't think he's been disappointing. I just think we need to set-up the team that utilizes his strengths.

He was great vs Everton in the first match, set up four or five good chances. I also thought he was excellent in the attempted Spurs-comeback, coming in from the left.

We need to get him to work in tandem with Rooney and RvP.

Exactly. He has still produced decent stats, even when most of the time we completely bypass him and just continue with our oh so predictable wing play. If we can get him back, and actually play through him we will have a completely new dimension to our attack.

A close friend attended a meeting of the team Drs of football teams in the North West to discuss knee injuries and best practice at Liverpool training ground.

Liverpool have a better set up than United - statistically Pool players spend less time injured. So there probably is some truth to the fact United medical staff is a bit shit. I was banging on here how they mishandled Hargo treatment as I know quite a bit about knee injuries to know What United were trying to do was a hit and hope strategy.

When Kagawa first arrived here, the general consensus was he's going to add more dynamism to our attack. Ever since then, I feel like we're trying to shoehorn him into our wide play system more so than giving us a different option. I hope to be proved wrong but Fergie's insistence on using wingers does concern me. He seems hesitant to use the diamond unless it's in Europe.

Aye it is a bit concerning. The fact we let Kagawa play on with that knock compounds it for me. We've done that with other players as well. I dont think our medical team is shite but we certainly could be managing our injuries better.

I agree, I've said a few times that our best system this year will be one where we manage to get them all three functioning. Hasn't happened yet, but it's still early days, and with all the injuries, we can hardly start making definite conclusions.

It's a radical change in his style, he's played 4-4-2 as a default formation (barring a few exceptions) for donkey years know, the overhaul isn't going to happen overnight. The acquisition of the player though shows that he's aware of what the time could look like, and I'm sure it'll just take time.
