So will he start against the Stoke thugs? Moyes may go for size and strength with Smalling, Rio, Vidic, Fellaini, Rooney etc.

My gut feeling is that he won't start against Stoke, yet unless he is particularly fatigued from the CL i'd want to Moyes seize upon that performance and field him at the weekend.

Additionally it will be interesting to see if Rooney plays in a deeper role again or not, as we won't see the same results as midweek if the team adopts an approach closer to that of previous league matches.

Rooney played the deeper role for the majority of the game midweek.

Actually his average position in the match was higher up the pitch then anyone else on united, apart from young (because he played like 10 minutes though). Hernandez's average position was where you'd expect Rooneys to have been.

I think Kagawa. He is much lower on confidence and he would need the boost of playing 2 games in a row to keep his spirits up. Dropping him after 1 of his best performances would just cause more damage.

Januzaj on the other hand will be more understanding, he is young and has played plenty of football already, and will more than likely start against Norwich.

To be fair though either player deserve it, my bet is Young will start over both

Can we play them both? Januzaj AMR, Kagawa AML?

half hoping persie isnt fully fit, which means we may see
nani--kagawa---adnan
--------rooney

I would like to see them both in the line up at some point but not against stoke, wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see either and he played Nani and Valencia on the wings or maybe even give Zaha or god forbid Young a chance.

I think whether Moyes plays Kagawa or not will give us some insight into him as a manager.Players must be given the opportunity to follow up a good performance. It is positive for the player and allows that player to build some momentum and confidence and if he fails then he knows he has to improve. It also sends a message to other players.Play well and you will be rewarded. This is a game for me that needs to have Rooney and Kagawa start.Rvp may need to rest his niggles but even if fully fit i would start Robin from the bench.

To be fair though Januzaj has not put a step wrong, why should he be punished because 1 other has played well?. Perhaps Nani will be benched, or maybe even Kagawa, Januzaj, Nani and Rooney all together.

I guess we will find out.

Should that only apply to Kagawa or should Valencia get the chance to continue some good form from Wednesday?

I think we can and I hope we do. Januzaj deserves to start for being our most impressive attacker in the last two games he's played, and Kagawa needs another game to try and carry on where he left off against Sociedad.

I hope Valencia carries on and comes back to form (been long time) as he is an unstoppable force when firing!

Good point but I'd say Kagawa was the more impressive player the other day. And on a more selfish note, I personally find Kagawa the more exciting player to watch and the kind of footballer who could potential lead to more exciting football, so I'd always want him to play instead.

Good to see him get the nod. Needs to back up his display from midweek with another one. Again, if we can get an early goal and make the pitch big against Stoke, they won't be able to touch him. Hope he has a big one. Needs a goal I feel, hope when he gets the chance he just hits the thing and doesn't over think it.

 Hopefully he will drift inn centrally today as well. He'll be devastating for us there!

Still don't like him on the left, leaves Evra way too isolated on that flank and he plays too conservatively on the flank in contrast to when he's in the hole.

Yep. He shouldn't play on the left, especially because Moyes wants his backs pushing up so much

If he is persistently played there, I can only see him going one way at this club and that is out the door.

Strange game today, was if he'd received encouragement to drift in so after a couple of passes he'd just wander into the congested box

Defense is not emphasized in Germany the way it is in England. He's not used to it. Maybe he can adapt, maybe not.

He played in the hole for Dortmund and surrounded by pace, he was pretty direct but also freedom to impose on the game as he saw fit. You need to give players like this genuine freedom or not select them, going halfway about it just causes unbalance on the pitch.

Played too narrow today. Rooney and him were constantly clashing with each other and had no one to pass to. Moyes need to find a way to accommodate the two together.

We just don't suit each other. Not his fault and not our fault, probably best if we part ways.

Well, i really like the guy but i felt like he had a poor game today. His drifting inside just made it way too congested in there with Rooney occupying the same space. I think it's going to be a case of Kagawa or Rooney in the hole because it's just way too busy in there when they both play. It also left us with feck all on the left, so when we had acres of space over there all we had was Evra pretending to be a winger and trying to do all himself out there. It's really annoying as i'd love to see him play in his position but i can't see how we can really fit him in properly. Shoving him out on the left and letting him come inside just seems to make us so unbalanced.
