He's been awful in this game so far.
He's not been much better than that since joining us tbf.

Is it really just a case of him not fitting in to the style team? Or was he also slightly overrated based on just two seasons with Dortmund? I remember people in the summer comparing him to Ozil in terms of quality, yet he has never looked anywhere near that level while here.
He drifted inside a lot and failed to do anythingI still can't understand why he's not given a chance in the AM position, even when we're leading 3-0. It's as if Moyes is convinced that Kagawa doesn't have a future there. If that's the case, then it's a waste of potential.
Top players should always adapt to any team or style.
And at times he has last season especially. He needs to do far more though.
Ibra didn't fit in at Barcelona because if his giant ego. That is a rare exception, he should have done very well with them. His goals,to games ratio was pretty good there all the same. That's not always the case. Ibrahimovic didn't adapt well to Barcelona's system, so does that mean he's not world class, great, quality, etc.? I think it's definitely a case of the system not suiting Kagawa, when he plays on the left. If he gets consistent playing time behind RvP or Rooney, then we'll see more dominant performances, but I'm not sure he can perform well regularly as a LW.
His performance today was inexcusable though. Change of system has nothing to do with ball retention.
That's the issue he's too safe for an attacking midfielder in this team. Granted, there is an obvious style clash but you don't want to see a player of his mould passing backwards and sideways for the sake of passing. Was he really all that bad? Sure, a couple of poor touches, but got better as the half went on. Always showing for passes, offering runs, finding space. He was playing left wing, yet still involved in possession play far more than Jones in midfield, and about as much as Fellaini.
bla bla bla about him not playing in his best position. If the guy can't even make the effort, can't even look arsed to play then this club isn't the right one for him. He should look at Adnan who gets shifted a lot in different matches and still gives 100%. Really disappointing by him and it's not even football quality related. He plays like a coward or something.
What style of team? He just isnt good enough for us. Another player that was good in the Bundesliga but not good enough for top 4 Premier League teams.

Since when did Kagawa not make an effort!? Christ, if the Kagawa fanboys are bad a making excuses for Kagawa not playing good, you critics are at least equally bad. Kagawa is known for his intense off-the-ball movement. Just because he's not attacking players like Rooney does, it doesn't mean he works any less.
It's about time we realize that he's not a winger like Silva/Mata. He's a specialist AM, who used to play as a defensive midfielder.
He plays on the left fairly regularly for Japan though, doesn't he? I know that their set up is a bit different but even still, you'd think he'd be able to perform better on the left for us than he has so far.

Anyone doubting Shinji Kagawa's ability to succeed as a Manchester United footballer is an idiot.

Yes, he does, but it's a different system. Lots of movement off the ball and has different connections to the players.

I think he just needs a run of games, hardly playing this season has to take a toll. I mean we are into November now and he has barely featured
What's that supposed to mean? and why didnt he do it today againt a mediocre team like Fulham?
I'm not an advocate of playing Kagawa, unless it's behind a centre-forward. Different connections means that there is better chemistry and understanding with the players, it really is a different system. Whereas our system is not the same. He's not going to play well regularly at LW, unless he starts to work harder. He has the skill-set to play there, but he's too calm and needs to work harder - Moyes needs to have more faith in him, just like Klopp did. Finally, he had a poor game against Fulham because he was too casual, there was no explosiveness.
