Should Arsenal sack Wenger

Carragher letting rip tonight.

Most of it is reasonable, too. I sometimes think the whole "getting stuck in" attitude can be a bit outdated and silly but the whole 'top four mentality' has been corrosive. Especially when all it's gotten them is a series of last 16 CL finishes.

The idea they'd be fecked without Wenger if they fell out the top four is a bit silly - United and Liverpool have struggled to get top four in recent years and yet neither side is really behind Arsenal at all when it comes to quality. It wouldn't surprise me if Arsenal appoint someone decent, win the league next year, celebrate, and then think...err, shouldn't this have happened half a decade ago?

Imagine the reaction if he has actually already signed his contract?

It's what I keep saying - I hope our fanbase never gets like that about Top fecking 4. I couldn't give two shites. Win the league or nothing for me.

I mean I don't think there's anything wrong with it occasionally when you have a bad season, which is what's going to happen sometimes when the league now has six major teams with realistic expectations of a title challenge. But yeah, the way it's sort of morphed into this trophy of sorts for Arsenal has been a bit absurd. Especially in an era where a team can take a risk and drop out the top four for a year or two and get back in as soon as they've had a good season.

They should refilm that Pepsi ad but instead of Kendall giving someone a Pepsi she should deliver the news Wenger has signed a new contract.

Just to show how bad it has been for Arsenal - compared to Spurs:

25 games - 50 points (same as Tottenham) and + 26 GD (2 worse than Tottenham)
32 games - 54 points (14 behind Tottenham with 1 game in hand) and + 22 GD (20 worse than Tottenham)

Is it possible he'd stay on for a year just to have a transition of sorts? Maybe do some restructuring so the incoming boss won't come into a huge mess?

He's ready for international management. I think he'd boss it.
Not a bad shout. He'd get any country he liked.

Would do very well for England, given he knows England's players so well and his natural talent with younger players which Englands seems to have many right now.

I think that could end up making things worse. They need to make a change this year imo. If he stays and Sanchez/Ozil and others decide to go, they could start next season in a terrible state with a manager who already has the fans on edge.

They need a fresh start.

Actually I wondered because I suspect like us with SAF, the club has long revolved around Wenger, and they might not have a post Wenger strategy in place. I doubt the board thought they would be fighting for top 4 irrespective of the competition this season. It might be less traumatic if they gave themselves time to put things in place.

Then again, if Wenger is not leaving because his personal interest, then yes, it's best to make a fresh start.

Bloody hell ... the state of Arsenal fans, hurling abuse at their own players.

Huh, I hadn't thought of that. You would think that they have a plan in mind for when Wenger goes, regardless of when that actually is.

The thing is, with Arsenal's board no one really knows who's supposed to be in charge of what. We all know who is and has been in charge of transfers at United/Liverpool for example (Woodward and Ayre). Who is in charge of all that at Arsenal?

do you think footy clubs do much planning?

does it ever look like footy clubs do much planning?

(that they stick to)

This image could be from any point in the last few years.

Claude just said he heard Wenger has already signed a new contract.

Arsenal fans having massive meltdowns  getting pretty heated and nasty. Understandable though, the players really look like they couldn't give a shit.

I assume Arsene. Don't know of anyone on their board who'd have any knowledge or desire to get involved with that.

Incredible arrogance from him recently.

He's been like this for years. The guy has no class at all. There have been at least two times he gave interviews on German television were he, even though he speaks perfect German and gave interviews in German before, started speaking English, because he was frustrated due to a loss.

I dunno mate:lol: Seriously, I think it's more crucial for us when SAF was here and of course Arsenal now, because of the longevity of the managers. After that long, everything at club revolves around them. That kind of thing can be hard to move on from as what's happened/happening with us.

Probably waiting to beat Spurs and/or Utd before announcing the contract.
