Sir Ryan Giggs

Without Giggs we'd be out of the cup.

Sorry what?

Anderson put a ball through to Hernandez who squared it to Rooney for the finish.

Giggs played very well but lets not jumped to conclusions like that.

We had Carrick, Scholes and Kagawa on the bench and Cleverley rested.

So Gary Neville attempting to play on for a further 6-12 months completely ruined our ever lasting memory of him did it?

Hardly... I and the rest of you will always remember him for his amazing 10-15 seasons he put in for us.

Erm no but it wasn't a delightful sight. Are you questioning that? Just stating the ideal case.

Would you rather Giggs retire at a time where he's still performing reasonably well but realizes he is done or when it's painfully obvious to everyone he needs to hang his boots up?

I'd like to see Giggs retire when it is on his and SAFs terms. It's up to us fans to be sensible to accept that we can't expect the type of performances of a young Giggs. That out of him we will get the performances you want from any veteran - one of experience and class.

Playing the way he did yesterday, should he start on Sunday?

I wouldn't mind it at all - though I think against Spurs he'll be even more effective coming off the bench. Use the likes of Nani or Kagawa to work them hard for the first 60 odd minutes and then if we need a spark - which Giggs certainly can do, bring Sir Ryan on.

Do you remember why we were playing West Ham on Wednesday?

In place of whom? Kagawa, Rooney, Welbeck, Nani?

I'm assuming the question didn't refer to central midfield but either way, i myself expect a taxing 90 minutes and such is not an ingredient favourable to Giggs' inclusion.

As Platato says, the bench would be best IMO.

I think Giggs is making the right decision, lets see what happens at the end of the season and make an informed decision. Lets not be hasty and say all sorts of weird and wonderful things.

He played very well the other night and he was well supported by the other lads in the team.

Anyone know if there is a highlights clip of Giggs involvement vs. West Ham?

If not, someone please make one.

And yet still, still we have people saying things like this...

Giggs, as shit as he's been lately, is an upgrade on Valencia.

Giggs has played what, 40 minutes over 3 games? He's been good when he's come on but he's still not what he was and that's reality, learn to accept it. He gives away the ball a lot and has too few moments of magic these days to make up for it.

Ryan Giggs at 39 years old is one of the classiest, most graceful players you'll ever see play the game. Fact.

"That'sHernandez" really doesn't have a clue. If you can't appreciated Ryan Giggs, you should probably find a different sport to watch.

Some of the Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime will never appreciate Giggsy till he's gone.

I wish I could talk more about his recent games, but I was the one who made the thread for him to retire so I cant.

He has been amazingly good in these cup games and I am an idiot

Has anyone noticed the difference in last two or three games comparing it to his last few seasons? He runs at defenders at the moment like he was doing it in his prime days. Of course he wasn't as pacey as he used to be, but he isn't affraid to dribble, he looks like he still want something to prove, and it's obvious he still does it with ease and class.

He said we should buy Balotelli couple of weeks ago.

I enjoy how he has gone from being a brilliant winger to a crap winger to a brilliant central midfielder to a crap central midfielder to a brilliant winger again.

Deserves every plaudit he has ever gotten.

Giggs has been fantastic in the last few months, and as some people have said,he does still have something to offer if he's used in the right way.
If we keep using him the way we have been in these few months, I certainly wouldn't mind if he stayed on for another year.He really deserved it.
I just hope he scores in the premiership to maintain that record.

His ability to reinvent himself, and rediscover his form never ceases to amaze me. You're tempted to think about his end date but he just keeps making himself useful again.

Best player on the pitch again tonight by a distance. He's 25 again.

The thing is, just because Giggs is 39, people don't see him as an 'out of form' player when he's playing badly. They just pull out the 'he's finished' card. Hopefully he's proved people wrong enough times now to make them think twice next time he goes on a poor run.

When will people learn that a great footballer is never finished until HE decides he's finished?

Football isn't all about the physical. It's an art form, to some players. Many, many players down through the years have been slow, not very athletic and not very fit, compared to the modern standard, but yet they were able outplay opponents, time and time again.

Cantona, Zidane, Sheringham, Le Tissier and many more great players have used technique, skill, vision and a good footballing brain to devastating effect, without ever being considered, athletic or do much running about the pitch. Giggs falls firmly into that category, these days. He'll always have the technique, skill and footballing brain to bring something to the team, which is why he's lasted so long. If Giggs thinks he can go on for another few years, then who are we to doubt him.

He won't be brilliant every time he appears for us, but none of our players ever are, they all have runs of bad form. It's nothing to do with age.

Another good performance today from Giggs. He just keeps on proving his doubters wrong.

I'm pretty sure it was tongue in cheek when he said about buying Balotelli, in fairness to him.

I remember in the 04-05 season review he said that he enjoyed every game more because he only had three or four years left of playing, and here we are eight years later having Motm performances.
