So we have Bayern

The idea that Moyes hasn't a clue about tactics is getting on my tits tbh.

To be fair though, his tactics chart for the Bayern game is a bit outdated:

~£500k difference in league prize money is peanuts. If you get to the next round of the CL you get gate receipts, TV money and if we win the damn thing we get CL football. It's really a no brainer.

So it's 500k per league place? That's a no brainer.

Although I guess the difference between a Europa league finish and missing out on European football together complicates things...

No, we're really not. Bayern are going to score at least 4 or 5 times over the two legs. We have to take the game to them, not sit back and try to counter; that would be suicide

Do you think we're going to score 5/6 goals against Bayern, even if we go on full out attack mode? How do you even expect do that with 30% possession. FFS, we can barely break down teams as it is. We're blunt as feck on our best days, Bayern don't have any particular weak spots that we can systematically target. We're much better off trying to park the bus and hit them when there's space on the counter. Arsenal did a decent job of keeping them out when it was 11 vs 11.

United won't be inspiring in any way, shape or form against Bayern. It will be damage limitation from the outset and the groans will be audible as soon as they pop the first goal into our net.

I actually think Moyes will revert completely into Everton mode as when they played a big Premier League club. He will see this as his forte, looking at ways to stop Bayern playing. It will be incredibly dull. Hopefully he will have some sort of plan when we do get the ball, however rare that will be.

Weren't we 20-1 this morning? Never understand the way odds work. If we didn't draw Bayern this round, we'd have to beat either them - or the team that beat them - at some point regardless. Why should drawing them sooner, rather than later, cause a big bump in our odds?

Because we have the toughest possible tie in the QF and that doesn't make our (potential) SF tie any easier.

Suddenly I am extremely excited about the CL again. All I want is for us to show we can play decent football against a top club again, not much to ask is it? Don't even care about the result.

they have to let us have the ball first.

It's in the order of ~£700k per position. Realistically, we could get 5th which is £1.4m extra money.

If we stay in 7th we're in the Europa League assuming a top 4 team wins the FA Cup, otherwise we need 6th.

TBH anyway, we have a fecking big squad. The likes of Kagawa, Hernandez, Fletcher, Nani should be good enough for most of our remaining fixtures and there's Mata who can't play in the CL. We should be fine to rest players and then play our preferred XI for Bayern.

Someone tell Muller that the Caf thinks the performance wasn't that good.
I doubt Müller saw anything other than the 3 goals. He would talk like that. In fact have you not noticed that all connected to Bayern are talking like that? It's called being respectful and not blowing your trumpet lest it come back to haunt you.

It's like the Fergie-bashing all over again. They both clearly know a thing or two about tactics. You don't get where they got in football without being very tactically astute.

Where they differ is that Fergie knew how to motivate this squad which Moyes, so far, doesn't seem to have a rashers how to do.
You can't put it all down to motivation. His tactics have been all over the place this season, I think it would be wrong to suggest otherwise. He's been all over the place and we have yet to see a tactical framework materialize.

He has certainly looked like he doesn't have a clue.

My point was that the Glazers will want that we give it all in the league too. In the games either side of the tie.

Can we play 9-0-1 for both matches and try to beat the Germans on penalties?

They haven't been for much of this season.

80 % of my colleagues are Bayern club members and match goers and i'm already getting stick because the league position .
now they are sad that it will be a boring tie , they wanted proper challenge like real or barca

Buttner and Rafael are more than a match for Ribery and Robben

If a top 4 team wins the FA Cup the runner-up qualifies for the Europa League. That doesn't change until after next season.

This sort of suits Moyes in a way, doesn't it? He has to revert to the defensive game he's more comfortable with, nobody will be too surprised if we lose and if we somehow win it'll be a big enough coup to guarantee he lasts through the summer. Hell, even if we get hammered he can point to Barca's result last year as an excuse.

If he manages to hold the PL together then this draw might save Moyes, in a way.

No, we're not going to score that many, but I'd rather go down swinging. If we're blunt going forward, what does that make our defence? Our best back 4 is pathetic. Arsenal can actually play football, that's why they were decent in their ties, but we need to take the game to them, kick lumps out of them if need be.

Get in. Bayern. Exactly who I wanted.

we are the big underdogs here. but somehow just got a feeling we are going to do a liverpool 2005 and chelsea 2012 this season. hope that is going to materialize.

Welbeck, Valencia, Fletcher, and Jones are all big game players! No reason we can't get through if we play as well as we can.

Moyes vs Guardiola huh, piece of cake.

If the club arrange couches along the perimeter of the pitch we can all hide behind them when the football starts, or Bayern are the Daleks.

Maybe a Fergie side might have had a glimmer of a hope of a chance, but the current United will never amount to anything.

I reckon that in one leg you'll get smashed and in the other you'll fluke a 1-1 draw.

I see how we can go about this in two manners 1st is to act like sullen flogs who are consigned to their fate or the 2nd which is to embrace the challenge, the struggle and the fight. We may not be at our greatest however bring your best Bayern we are Manchester United and we are not afraid of what you can do and you can be damn sure that we will go down swinging.
