So we have Bayern

Moyes' song to Pep before the Bayern game

P.S. Need some time to learn how to make spoilers.

I really just hope they take it easy on us. Sadly ze Germans are ruthless in many aspects of life. Football is one of them.

THIS is what Man Utd is all about.

Odds against us. Totally written off. People already writing their columns about us bowing out.

Time to prove people wrong.

I'm suspending all rational sense:We will beat Bayern and go on to win the European Cup.

BELIEVE

I don't think anyone ever wrote us out, ever under SAF's (in CL).

We had a tough match, no guarantee to win and all, but Written off??? NEVER

What's the odds we'll be applauding the away team / player / manager at the end of the first match?

FWIW, I don't think ze germans will show any mercy, they're due their payback for their 99, and they smell blood. And personally, i'd rather they try their best to anal rape us, rather than having mercy. It's already humiliating enough, being sparred out of pity is the last thing we need.

I think we will win 2-0. First goal will come around 25 min mark and 2nd on counter around 85 min after Bayern press hard for equalizer, after having kept out by brave defending and luck till then.

This is going to be embarrassing. Good thing I am becoming accustomed to it.

Any potential record to break?

Biggest lost suffered by English team to a German team?
Biggest Aggregate win over two legs?
Biggest Bayern CL away win?
United's Most Conceded in a CL match?
Fastest goal conceded at CL?

Now that Bayern Munich have already become champions they can consentrate all their efforts into retaining the Champions League, are we now going to regret getting passed Olympiacos? In our current state the worst maybe yet to come!

Nah, now they've won the Bundesliga they're going to party all week and show up with hangovers and party hats.

The gap they had in the Bundesliga since almost the beginning of the season, meant that winning their domestic title was nothing more than a formality for Bayern (hence the incredibly short odds since day 1) With the current balance of power in the Bundesliga (or should I better say, the imbalance of power) this is an extra advantage that Bayern hold over potential rivals from England and Spain who are locked into fierce title races. Bayern, by the end of their season, will have completed an extra 34 training sessions in preparation for the defence of the CL title.

Could this potentially play into our hands and Bayern end up completely underestimating us and think they can get through the tie without much effort leaving us he opportunity to grab glorious victory. Or am I clutching at straws?

They knocked us out twice since 1999! Do Bavarian banks charge 300% interest rate?

We could knock you out 10 times more and it still wouldn't make up for those last minutes in '99.

Doubt it. We never really underestimate an opponent, that's why we're on such an insane run in the league. We play every game with so much determination. However, we tend to fall asleep after a brilliant start, something comparable to the game at home against City is always possible. We start on fire, take the lead, then feck up and allow the opponent to hurt us.

Oh come on. Who forced you to take off Matthaus? Besides, I'm still sick of that last minute goal in München in 2010, with Rooney's injury - and I'm having nightmares thinking about Robben's screamer at OT. That should be enough. Please spare us. A gentle 5-0 on aggregate and I won't complain.

@Balu congrats on wrapping up the league man. Wonderful achievement.
Thanks :D

I'd take a 2-0 on aggregate.

I think it's sad that as a United fan of over 35 years I am not looking forward to a Champions League 1/4 final tie.

We will be mercilessly humiliated.

I understand it is easier to cope with a defeat by playing down United's chances in advance, but I expect it to be a tight game. Huge score-lines almost never happen when you expect them, least at such a stage. Bayern München will play with a lot more caution than in the Bundesliga, they always do in the Champions League.

One or two moments of brilliance at the right time from Rooney & Co. and it could become a very thrilling encounter.

On a side-note I would worry a lot more about the 1st than the 2nd leg, considering Bayern's incredible form away from home and their past struggles at the Allianz Arena in 2nd legs.

Are you mental? There's no two ways about it, on aggregate the difference will be at least 5 goals and probably a lot more.

Well in that case Bayern will probably destroy us.

Oh I actually thought you were being funny. As in, the record will be broken in the first leg let alone the second.

Of course Bayrn are the favourites, but I think it will not be the complete humiliation many of you are expecting. I think it will be something like 3-1 on aggregate.

Well the bookies have the most likely scores as:

1-2, 0-2, 0-1, 1-1, 0-3, 1-3, 2-2, 0-0, 0-4, 1-4 and... 2-1

So at Old Trafford... us winning by any score is the 11th likeliest scoreline (losing 4-0 has lower odds than winning 2-1)

Jesus!

But you can't disagree with the bookmakers here. They put their money where their mouths are...
