The biggest surprise for me, was Ronny Johnsen. At times, he was just immense. Too bad he was so injury prone.
Does anyone remember when we signed him, Johnsen, Cruyff, Poborsky and Van der Gouw?
To think I was creaming myself over Jordi and Pob.
Little did I know...
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is at the top of Wolves owner Steve Morgan’s shortlist to become the club’s new boss.
The multi-millionaire has identified the former Manchester United striker along with ex-England skipper Paul Ince as the prime long-term candidates to succeed Mick McCarthy.
Of the two, Solskjaer is understood to be the preferred choice to replace interim boss Terry Connor. He has made a stunning start to his managerial career with Molde, winning the Norwegian league title at his first attempt last season.
And he fits the bill as far as Morgan is concerned. He is seeking a young, dynamic coach to drive Wolves forward.
According to club insiders, Morgan wants a more malleable manager — McCarthy certainly was not that — but he might be wrong in thinking Solskjaer, 39, will be a pushover.
It will require some negotiation to break Solskjaer’s contract, too. The former Champions League winner agreed a four-year deal when he took on the job after leaving the reserve team manager position at Manchester United.
Ince, meanwhile, is remembered fondly as a member of the Wolves side promoted to the Premier League under Dave Jones’ stewardship nine years ago.
Since impressing as a boss at Macclesfield and MK Dons, Ince has not really been given an extended chance to prove himself. He lasted less than a season at Blackburn and is one of a clutch of managers installed at Notts County in recent seasons.
How the feck is Paul Ince in the running?
heard an interview with solskjaers assistant at Molde - he's a former United academy coach
sounds like despite what people might think he is Fergie-like in terms of discipline and expectations on players - apparently he took notes from the manager throughout his career
I wonder about making him assistant boss?
probably best to go somewhere like wolves where he can cut his teeth in the championship next season
would be a great learning experience
Potential replacement for KKK? He was a childhood Liverpool fan was he not?![]()
Here's a documentary of Ole's time at Molde so far for those who haven't seen it.
What a man.
Ole managing United would make me cream myself.![]()
Would be nice to see Molde do well in the CL next season.
Cracking documentary, made me smile when he was talking about his kids "he's 3 and knows who Wazza is"![]()
He really needs to stay in europe if there is any chance of him managing us, would we rather employ someone who has faced european big boys and championship sides. It may work out if he goes to championship but it would be better for us and him if he competes in the CL.
