I expect to see changes for Saturday's match, but only a few.Van der Sar - Neville, Evans, Vidic, O'Shea - Nani, Anderson, Carrick (Gibson 56), Giggs (Possebon 56) - Welbeck (Rooney 63), Berbatov
Could you make the OP a little smaller Youngie? The logos I mean. Make it simpler.
Lindegaard
O'Shea
Ferdinand
Evans
Fabio
Bebe
Carrick
Anderson
Obertan
Owen
Hernandez
SUBS:
Kuszczak, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Berbatov, Rooney
We need him totally fresh against Aston Villa, no doubts.
At the moment, the team I would pick is:
------------Hernandez---Owen---------
Obertan------Carrick---Gibson------Nani
Fabio----Smalling----Ferdinand----Brown
----------------Kuszczak---------------
Lindegaard, O'Shea, Evans, Anderson, Fletcher, Bebe, Berbatov.
PS. I think Kuszczak is still second choice, Lindegaard was on the bench yesterday, because Kuszczak came to Poland for Euro 2012 meeting, he has something to do with that. However, it's matter of time when Lindegaard becomes our second goalie.
I know what you mean, but remember we have Aston Villa in three days after Southampton and Wolverhampton away next weekend. Clearly Southampton are the easiest opponent, when we want to rest someone, the best chance to do it is this Saturday.I don't think we should be making wholesale changes to the lineup for an FA Cup game. For me, the Carling Cup is all about giving youth and fringe players a chance, while the FA Cup is about fielding a first team with a few changes here and there to integrate players into the side. I'd like to see at least one of Vidic/Ferdinand, at least one of Rooney/Berbatov and a solid team elsewhere. If we're cruising, we can give youth a chance, but Fergie will have learned from Leeds last year that just putting a team that would usually be good enough to win isn't always enough in this competition.
At least the PL can't fine us for fielding a weakened side in this game right?
Starting line up
TK
O'Shea, Smalling, Evans, Fabio
Fletcher, Scholes, Gibson, Obertan
Owen, Chicharito
Bench: Lindengaard, Brown, Anderson, Nani, Rooney, Bebe, Rio if fit.
Remember SAF said Giggs won't play against Southampton last week after the Birmingham game.
Why would you put Scholes in your staring lineup is beyond me. He just played the whole 90 minutes against Blackpool and you expect him to start against Southampton?
I don't know how good we will be at the back if Smalling and Evans combine again. I kinda want to see Brown and Smalling at the back.
I've just applied MSc Risk Management for Southampton so I'll be cheering Soton for this one.

Made me laugh Crustanoid, how did you link that up with FM ?
From this morning's pressy I presume.Strong squad for Cup trip

Sir Alex says he will be taking a strong squad to St Mary’s for the FA Cup fourth round tie against Southampton despite being without a handful of first team regulars.
Edwin van der Sar has been given the weekend off, while Patrice Evra (family bereavement) and Rafael (concussion) will not be travelling. Michael Carrick, who has been struggling with an ankle injury, is expected to be available providing he comes through training on Friday.
“Michael will train today and hopefully he will be okay to travel,” the boss told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
“We picked up one or two bruises at Blackpool the other night - it was quite a physical game, but we’ll still take a strong squad because it won’t be an easy match; away games in cup ties never are.
“I went to see Southampton play Oldham earlier this month and they won 6-0. They're having a good season. They play good football and I'm sure they'll have a go."
Sir Alex has a decision to make on who takes over in goal for the Reds with new signing Anders Lindegaard and Tomasz Kuszczak both vying for a starting spot.
"It's a possibility [a debut for Anders],” confirmed the manager. “He and Tomasz will both travel."

I'm surprised to see so many thinking we will play Owen and Chicharito together, I'd be shocked if Fergie did as they are way too similar to work as a pairing.
They are PL defenders playing for United, Evans obviously more experienced than Smalling, and despite not having much match time as a duo, shouldn't have too many problems with Southampton.
