Sporting Lisbon vs. Manchester United - Wednesday 19 September 2007 (19:45 BST)

Rooney starting tonight, Saha and Tevez on the bench.

Which means... yay! Only one striker. And it's a striker who doesn't like playing on his own, too.

Please explain to me why, if a player who recovered from a broken foot this week is fit enough to start, two strikers who have had weeks to train only make the bench?

At least he will have options if things aint going our way...

Hmm so Tevez is starting to play well and we put him on the bench?...

Well this game isn't the be all and end all so if it's true then I personally dont have a problem with it, it's got to the point where we need to wrap Louis in cotton wool and I know which game I would rather have him play in out of tonight or Sunday

Tevez on the bench is a strange one though, must mean Nani is playing against his old team.....

Doesn't seem to make much sense, I guess Giggs or Ronaldo will play off of Rooney so he isn't totally isolated. Very surprising that Tevez is left out.

WHy must Fergie insist in playing Giggs upfront, what a joke.

Why not play Giggs on the left and Saha or Tevez upfront with the Roonster?

Giggs plays shite when used as a striker

Confirmed team

-------------VDS-----------
Brown Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Ronaldo Carrick Scholes Nani
-----------Giggs------------
----------Rooney------------

Could also be Giggs, Scholes, Carrick in midfield and Ronaldo, Rooney and Nani upfront in a 4-3-3.

If Fergie doesn't play players for fitness reasons, you can't really argue with that. Besides, the Chelsea match has to take precedence.

It won't be pretty, we'll probably have to scrape a result again, but the points are what matters.
