Stoke City V Manchester United

After this game, we play 4 games in 12 days and if progress through league cup, a further 3 games in 7-8 days in early part of January. Therefore it is important we use the squad for this.

Lindegaard
Smalling(if fit)/Fabio Rio Evans/Jones Buttner
Nani Anderson Fletcher/Fellaini(if fit) Young
Kagawa
Hernandez

Stoke are on a nice bit of run, not sure how strong team they will put out for this game.

I am going for a tough 2-1 win for United.

I'd like to see some continuity in our line up to build momentum and confidence, especially in defence, so I'd go for:

De Gea

Rafael
Jones
Evans
Fabio

Zaha
Fletcher
Cleverley
Nani

Kagawa

Welbeck

I am not fan of too much rotations, but we should probably change our whole team here. Stoke will also play their weaker side, since they are, like we, getting into busy period, so there is no reason not to rest most of the players. I just hope our injured players are back for this one. Lindegaard, Vidic, Rio, Buttner, Fabio, Ando, Zaha, Young, Nani, Hernandez, should all be involved.

Would go fairly strong here as winning a cup will be important, something like:

Lindegaard

Smalling Vidic Rio Buttner

Nani Fletch Ando Young

Kagawa

Welbeck

I'd like Fabio to play more Moyes doesn't want him at left back and think we'd be exposed aerially if we have buttner and him on the flanks and evra needs a rest when he can get it. Zaha could potentially come in out wide but he's not looked great in the last two games and Young did alright against Shaktar. Hernandez come come in over Welbeck but I think he should be ok to start this one and at the weekend too.

i'd only make minor changes

I think its more important for Moyes to get a run of wins together

------------De Gea--------------
Fabio--Smalling--Vidic--Buttner
--------Fletcher-Anderson------
Zaha--------Kagawa-------Nani
------------Hernandez----------

Would love to see this.

I'm beginning to wonder if our troubles are due to playing in too many competitions and especially when Moyes hardly has any experience handling such a side. Liverpool are benefiting from only having to play the premier league, that could be why they are doing well.

We need continuity.

DDG
Rafael_Evans_Jones_Evra (Fabio)
Cleverley_Anderson
Nani (Zaha)_Rooney_Januzaj
Welbeck

Making as little change as possible.

Given the injuries I expect weakened line-up, and a tricky task to get through.

Lindegaard
Fabio Jones Ferdinand Buttner
Nani Anderson Cleverly Young
Rooney Welbeck

de Gea
Rafael--Ferdinand--Evans--Buttner
Cleverley--Fletcher
Zaha--Rooney--Young
Welbeck

Not sure who's back from injury but if everyone is still out this will be the team I would start.

Definitely think we should start a relatively strong side. It may not be a cup that is viewed as important by many, but our chances of winning the league are slim at best and winning the Champions League will prove a monumental task. We should really be aiming at winning a domestic cup, that, along with a top four finish and I would personally be very happy.

Not too mention that we are not exactly in a position to take each game lightly. Like others have said, we should definitely look at building some momentum, form and continuity in the side over the coming weeks. We should still be looking at starting some of our in-form players and not rewarding players who are in poor form with game time.

With all that in mind, I'd like to see something along the lines of;

de Gea
Rafael - Ferdinand - Evans - Buttner
Valencia - Jones - Cleverley - Nani
Rooney
Welbeck
Subs: Lindegaard, Fabio, Fletcher, Anderson, Giggs, Young, Zaha
This is assuming that none of Vidic, Smalling, Carrick, Kagawa, van Persie or Hernandez return from injury, along with Fellaini (although he's cup-tied anyway).

It's still largely the basis of the team that played Villa, with a few changes, that naturally would need to happen, given the injuries we have. Still, it's rewarding players who played well in the previous game like Welbeck, Valencia and Rafael and I think like Moyes has said, Rooney has to be a constant and ever-present in the side.

Some would be enforced somewhat like Buttner and Rio. It doesn't exactly fill me with confidence seeing their names on the teamsheet, but Buttner did alright against Shakhtar and Fabio probably isn't too sharp given his little game-time this season, that's why I'd opt for him.

Not a lot of impact from the bench if we need a game-changer however. Probably have to look at Giggs and Anderson as the main potential game-changers, so I think it'll be a very tight affair. I don't think Fletcher should start, as it would be wiser to ease him back into the team/

A starting eleven like that would be quite pleasing. Although it is very defensively susceptible - albeit up against a team who possess poor attacking options - but Stoke aren't as physical or direct as they were under Pulis, so Rio will probably fair a bit better. The bench is very weak mind you.

---Zaha-----------Anderson----Fletcher--------------Nani-----

Would love to see Fletcher and Anderson in the centre for this game. I don't know why, but just think it would work and they have enough about them to play a good pressing game. Doubt it will happen though.
Like others, would be nice to see Welbeck playing in front of Kagawa for this one.
Stoke will make it very physical but I fancy us to win this.
Come on Moyes.

Fletcher has played 30 minutes in the last 12 months and Anderson hasn't played so much more.

That will work maybe against Chesterfield.......but not against a Premier League club.

I mean HELLO.......we're struggling with players like Cleverley and Fellaini.

Stoke haven't scored from a single set piece all season.

They're not the threat they once were in that department.

I think we'll push on and beat Stoke by a couple of goals. As long as we keep the ball on the ground and play a sharp passing game, we'll have no problem, unless they start putting the boot in. That's always likely with those cnuts.

Haven't they scored against Chelsea (Crouch's goal) from a set-piece?!?

No idea. Just regurgitating what they said on MOTD this weekend.

Yeh Stoke are shit. Hoping we give them a bit of a pasting.

'HELLO' - what are you? 12?

Well considering that Cleverley and Fellaini have hardly been lighting up the stage (Cleverley was good against Villa, I grant you), then why not start with Anderson and Fletcher. The latter has been playing quite a lot of football recently, and looked fit in his cameo at the weekend. Anderson, well why not? We have always used this competition for either giving youth a chance and getting players fit.

I reckon they'd get tired after 60 though tbf

Why are people thinking Fletcher can start a game after not playing for a year, and coming on when it was at testimonial pace at 3-0 up with 20mins left to stroll around on Sunday?

Thoroughly looking forward to Wednesday night - League Cup away's have proven to be brilliant in the past atmosphere wise. Hopefully it will be same again.

This is it, the toughest game of the season - Stoke on Wednesday night with possibility of rain/snow.

While I think it's a chance to use the squad, I want to see a really strong team. We don't know what the rest of the season could turn out like, so in my opinion, we need to do everything we can to get a trophy at least.
