Television The Caf' Anime Thread

The English one isn't. I read somewhere they're aiming for August ish to release that dub.

Agreed though. Only watched bits and pieces before of NGE, but ripped right through 1.11 and 2.22. Amazing
Right, I think I misunderstood 3.33 as the name of the English dub by default. Watched both the movies and the original, you probably aren't missing much tbf.

I have! I was quite surprised at the end, but now can't wait to see what Oda will come up with. I'm not a whole fan of the arc myself, there have been some nice bits here and there but overall I feel like it's dragging on for way too long.

On the subject of the new nakama, I'd love it if it's Barto! Guy is utter mad :D Though I feel his antics would wear-off rather quickly if we were to see him every episode. There's only one possible new nakama and we all know who that is.

Well, personally I'm interested in Arslan Senki, Kekkai Sensen, Owari No Seraph, Nisekoi, Ore no Monogatari, Shokugeki no Souma, Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darouka. These are just off the top of my head, think there were a few more.
Bellamy?

Attack of titans was great! I was reading they never expected it to be such a hit and so that's it taking it a while for season 2 to released.

I started watching an anime called Steins Gate. It's pretty out there but I find it hilarious. I recommend it!

Just finished watching Madoka Magica and Rebellion. Awesome plot, if only the story writers worked for Bioware or something (Mass Effect I am looking at you).

Bellamy?
Can't see him joining. I reckon he'd gather a crew and start sailing on his own, not dreaming of joining Doflamingo.

I was referring to Jimbei as Luffy already asked him to join. I reckon once his cover story is over and he finishes whatever business he has with Big Mom, we will see him joining the Straw Hats.

I just finished watching GTO and it's easily one of the best and funniest anime I've ever seen, also started watching Fairy Tail, still on episode 8 I'm just wondering if it gets better? the fights are boring and the dialogue is a bit repetitive but it's very highly rated so I'm giving it a chance.

I dropped both the anime and manga at the start of S02 i just couldnt read/watch any further because of all the 'nakama powerup' BS

If u liked Onizuka try Shonan Junai Gumi! 5 part prequel
There's also manga if u like reading
Prequel: Bad Company, Shonan Junai Gumi!
Side story: GTO: Shonan 14 Days, GTO: Paradise Lost
Spin-off: Ino Head Gargoyle, GT-R

Wouldn't recommend Fairy Tail in all honesty. If you do like that type of anime/manga I'd say watch Magi, Nanatsu no Taizai or World Trigger for example. You won't feel like you've wasted your time in the end, at least I didn't.

Oh I didnt know this thread existed awesome! I'm trying to finish the first season of Tokyo Ghoul, its ok but nothing great I want to get it out of the way so I can get to Assassination Classroom, Psycho Pass, Log Horizon and Kuroko no Basket.

I recommend you read the manga, the anime adaptation doesn't do it justice. It's brilliant!

You've got a good list of animes to watch though, thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Mainly Assassination Classroom, such a good manga/anime!

Tokyo Ghoul was enjoyable, although the censorship on Netflix was a bit much.

Attack On Titan live action movie trailer....

It looks ridiculously cheesy. I love it.

Finished Tokyo Ghoul and meh wont be watching this new season. In a couple of days I managed to blaze through 17 episodes of Kuroko No Basket 3 so now i'm up to date and now i'll watch Log Horizon or Psycho Pass or maybe something funny.

Watched Hajime No Ippo: The Fighting. One of the great sports anime of all time.

Have not yet seen Kara no Kyoukai being mentioned, really good for those who like anime with darker themes and requiring more thinking in general. It's a series of around 12 anime films of differing lengths, so not a massive amount of time required in total. But the nature of the anime will require you to pay absolute attention to detail. You can't really go wrong with Type-Moon and Ufotable combos, see Fate/Zero (2011) and the currently airing Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works.

EDIT: Oh and the OST is absolutely amazing, and the visuals are nothing to scoff at either.

Should Fate/Zero be the first of the Fate series to watch?

That depends on whether you want to get more into the Fate series in general (which would involve reading the Fate/Stay Night VN)

1. If you are planning to read FSN Visual Novel, read that first before watching Fate/Zero even though F/Z is a prequel.

2. If you are not planning to read, but still want maximum enjoyment of the overall Fate plot, I recommend watching the ongoing F/SN Unlimited Blade Works Anime, and waiting for that to finish, before watching Fate/Zero.

Watching Dungeon ni Deai now i'm three episodes in and its better than I thought, although I wish manga/anime writers would do away with the long ass names ...

Shigatsu Wa Kimi No Uso rec'd.

Feckin onions.

>>> Clannad.

This suggestion... Arigato, arigato.

I still love Clannad, so hard to say which is best of the two. SWKNU definitely higher quality in terms of writing though.

Started watching some now.

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet was OK. Good graphics, but lacked the awe factor or the grand story scale it deserves. Still great graphics!

Hunter x Hunter is good as well. A bit on the kids side, but still enjoyable like DBZ or Avatar. Just started on this and let's see how this goes...

Cheers for mentioning Psycho Pass mate.

Completed Season 1 today, and it's probably the best cyberpunk anime I've seen since Ghost in the Shell.

Also,

Makishima wow. Almost Johan Liebert level mentalist. Didn't think it was even possible. :nervous:

Mishushi is an atmospheric work of art; just has that memorable, dream-like wabi sabi effect like a lot of Moyazaki movies. Unfortunately a lot of people (usually shonen lovers) drop it after the first couple of episodes.

I've watched 10 episodes so far and I don't want it to ever end. I wish I had some weed at the moment, with the main character going around smoking blunts all the time and all lol.

Mushishi is an excellent series.

What I think is the anime of this season is : Blood Blockade Battlefront aka Kekkai Sensen. Made by Bones studio, the same creators who made Fullmetal Alchemist. I've seen about 10 episodes so far and it is ridiculously fun. Sort of a mixture of Cowboy Bebop + Bleach + Baccano!

Highly recommend if you like nice music, beautifully animated fight scenes..etc
