The Championship 2018/19 - Play-off final

Has Berahino scored yet?

Stoke kept a lot of their players iirc. Surprised how tough they're finding it

Stoke played some decent stuff in the first 30 or so, created chances, had a goal disallowed, a penalty appeal .. but defensively they're about as brittle as it gets and as soon as the first goal went in their heads went, the mentality doesn't seem right with some of the players. I think it's possible a few are just coasting and think they're too good for the league.

Great draw between Brentford and Villa. Bolton win, so now they lead the table now. Norwich, Wigan and Sheffield Wednesday win as well. Blackburn-Reading 2-2.

Villa bought Anwar el Ghazi.

Funny that, he said he would see himself end at Real Madrid when he was at Ajax. Typical of his entire generation of Dutch youngsters. Entitled punks who think they're the next Messi after a goal against de Graafschap or Fc Emmen.

It's gonna be a

in Norwich this season..

Enjoyed our game tonight. Our best performance of the season yet 15 seconds away from losing. Kodjia back is great for us.

Anyone know how good El Ghazi is? Scored 20 in 70 for Ajax but don't know much about him. Jorge Mendes client though....

Looked a gem sometimes ago, then he has gone a bit under the radar.

Leeds marching on like a train. They lead Norwich 2-0 at HT. Villa draw, instead. Stoke finally winning thanks to the 1-0 against Hull. Sheffield United, Derby, Q.P.R. and Bristol City up as well. Blackburn-Brentford 0-0 and Sheffield Wednesday-Ipswich 1-1.

Would love to see Leeds, the Blades, and Owls go up for the pure hatred in the various rivalries.

First defeat in the league for Brentford and Swansea, while Villa draw for the third time in a row. Leeds flying high thanks to the 3-0 against Norwich. First win for Q.P.R. and Stoke. Sheffield United, Derby and Sheffield Wednesday win as well. Nottingham-Birmingham now.
2-2 FT. Nottingham are still unbeaten.

Leeds vs. Boro tonight. Should be a good game between the early promotion favourites.

Turned this Leeds vs Boro game on about 15 minutes ago. Taken aback massively by the atmosphere. Has it always been like this at Elland Road in recent years? Is it just a new thing because of how well Bielsa has them playing?

Part of me thinks it's pathetic that 6 games in you'd swear with the buzz in the stadium that they're on the cusp of Premier League football and part of me is impressed that they've created a better atmosphere than I've seen in many years at OT.

They've been so bad and stuck in that league for so long every time they start playing well and look like they have a chance of promotion they normally fill the stadium and get excited; only for it to fizzle out again and the atmosphere goes back to normal.

If my team turned to shit and I stopped going I would not be remotely capable of showing up and acting like an ultra when things were looking up. How do they not feel utterly ridiculous?!

WBA win the big kick off against Stoke. Bad defeat for Villa against a rampant Sheffield United, instead. Wigan in the playoffs zone thanks to the 1-0 win against Rotherham. Brentford, Derby and Sheffield Wednesday win as well. Preston-Bolton 2-2 and Birmingham-Q.P.R. 0-0. Millwall-Swansea now.
2-1 Swansea FT. Great win, despite being down to 10 men.

Bruce must be on thin ice now. I'm not sure he'll make it until the end of teh international break let alone until the end of the week!

Gone before the next game, I reckon. There has been a strong recent push from the fans and this hammering will probably be the tipping point.

We are shite again....

Big problem is not getting any defenders in. We are a mess at the back (Tuanzebe keeps being played at right back) and lack that resilience defensively from last season. John Terry and Sam Johnstone been big misses so far.

I agree big decision for the new owners with two week gap.

It was a good win for Lampard. Derby had looked very good in pre-season and the fans were expecting a lot. Reading came to press and spoil and Derby really stuggled .They barely created anything and were largely poor but took the win. It should give them confidence going forward. A loss would have changed the pre-season narrative and optimism.
It will be very interesting to see how Lamps does this year, the Championship is one tough division so it will be quite the test.

Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce says his players must take some of the blame after his side were crushed at Sheffield United.

First-half goals from Jack O'Connell, Mark Duffy and Oliver Norwood set the Blades on their way to a fourth successive second-tier victory.

A disastrous afternoon for Bruce continued after the interval as Billy Sharp pounced on some slapdash defending to add a fourth goal, before Anwar El Ghazi's consolation effort.

"Ultimately I take the responsibility because I pick the players, but some of them have got to have a look at themselves too," Bruce told BBC WM.

"From back to front we were awful in a lot of aspects, but I've mentioned it far too many times, it's arguably the worst one I've faced, but that's the way it is.

"We can talk about tactics and 'you don't know what you're doing' and 'dinosaurs are going to come out', but at the end of the day we didn't put our boots on."

Bruce was without two of his newest loan recruits as Yannick Bolasie was unfit while Tammy Abraham was ineligible - while he revealed that John McGinn, Alan Hutton and Jonathan Kodjia played despite not training all week due to injuries.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/45304576

He should first blame himself.....i mean he plays Hutton (RB) as LB, Jedinak (CDM) as CB, El Mohamady (RB) as RW and Tuanzebe (CB) as RB and it hasn't worked.......and to play three unfit players is crazy too.

When you see the way Nyland is playing absolutely you are missing Johnstone. Just watched the highlights from the match yesterday and see a fair bit of the Championship so far this season, he's been terrible.

Bristol City with a massive win on Blackburn. They are finding their way in the league after a difficult start. Ipswich-Norwich 1-1, instead.

Bolton chairman says Wanderers face administration and 12-point deduction
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/sep/11/bolton-wanderers-administration-12-point-penalty
Bolton Wanderers’ chairman Ken Anderson says the club will be placed into administration due to a dispute over a loan repayment.

Anderson claims his offer to pay a £4m debt with interest has been rejected by finance company BluMarble Capital Ltd.

Slipping into administration would result in a 12-point deduction for the Championship side.

“I am very disappointed that Stuart Wilson and Michael Henson of BluMarble Capital Ltd have decided to reject my offer to repay the loan they originally made to the club through Sportshield Ltd and place the club in administration,” Anderson told the club’s website.

“The amount received by the club was £4m and I offered to repay this plus substantial interest. Unfortunately, this offer was rejected.”

Anderson added: “They will now need to fund the club administration going forward, which will take a minimum of three months and will automatically put the club in a two-year transfer embargo and a minimum immediate points deduction of 12 points.

“In my opinion, their actions will substantially reduce the value of the club in respect of any future sale and will make it far more difficult to find a future investor/buyer.”

Comes a few days after Birmingham City potentially breaking Financial Fair Play Rules and receiving a 12 point deduction

Good draw for the struggling Birmingham against WBA. Wonder how Monk couldn't find a better job than the one at Birmingham. He is a good manager.

First defeat for Middlesbrough, with Leeds just avoiding it in the dying seconds of the game. These results allow Bristol City and Brentford to reach the 2nd spot. Shocking defeat for Derby as well, while Stoke are still struggling. 2-2 against Sheffield Wednesday. Ipswich losing again against Hull. Reading and Q.P.R climbing the table, instead. Swansea-Nottingham 0-0. Blackburn-Villa now.
1-1 FT.

Brentford draw in the end so Leeds increase their lead at the top thanks the 3-0 against Preston. Aston Villa back to the winning way. Wigan, Stoke and WBA win as well. Derby-Blackburn 0-0.
