Film The Redcafe Movie review thread

Absolutely. I think everyone in the movie is good, but he's so much fun to watch. Willem Dafoe's character is great too.

Oh yeah, the whole cast do a grand (pun intended) job... but he especially is just fantastic. Every bit as good as all the oscar-bait performances I saw - whilst obviously being totally different.

In Fear (2013)

Had higher expectations for this movie (rating in rotten tomatoes), but nah... grab your car, drive in circle through the woods for 80min and you have the in fear experience. Not scary at all.

5/10

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

Didn't like the first 40-45 minutes and got the feeling they probably should not have bothered, then some really funny laugh out load moments that last for a fair while and it's back on track again. Can't make my mind up fully whether this is an average movie or a classic.
Probably a bit too long also.

So rating somewhere between 2 and 8.5!

Black Forest
A film about a group that go on a forest tour but end up in a world that is like a mesh of many fairytales. Awful movie, really bad acting (felt like year 9 drama rehearsals), stupid plot, cheesy effects, bad score and dialogue like:

"Let's get back on the road... oh no the road is gone" and my personal favourite "Where there's a goat, there's a farm"

Then they fight against 7 midgets.

It's so bad that's it's nearly laughably good. Plus has two sweet ass hot actresses 3/10

The scene in the park where they crowbar every shithead celebrity in they possibly can is one of the worst scenes I've ever seen. And I've seen The Room.

Yes I agree and it's quite a long film too, though have to admit I thought there was a 30 minute spell halfway through the film that was very funny.

The Family Friend - A sleazy Tom Waits look-a-like loan shark goes around being a dick. Sorrentino's got a great ear for a good, apt song (I always have to google songs after having seen one of his films) and an eye for small, beautifully poignant scenes. The lead actress was stunning, it's understandable why the camera wouldn't stay away from her face. Uneven at times but overall a good one.

The intro!

Yeah, another masterpiece by Sorrentino. Incredible performance by Giacomo Rizzo as the creepy Geremia, though I didn't think he looked like Tom Waits at all. I like what you say about Sorrentino's eye for "small, beautifully poignant scenes." Totally spot on. The guy is an incredible artist in so many facets.

Tom Waits-ish, with a touch of Quasimodo.

In the middle of Il Divo there's one scene where Salvatore Riina, the most notorious mafia member at the time works away peacefully in his garden during sunset with this song playing in the background. There was something indescribable genius about it.

Also this scene in The Great Beauty.

It was truly bizarre as well as unfunny.

Some funny bits in the middle but very poor compared to the original and the original was very patchy.

I passed out after 40 minutes, the saga will continue.

I might do The Room tonight. I'm having dinner with Ms. RiP's parents, so there'll be a lot of wine, so once I'm back home it might be a good time to watch it. Didn't sleep that well last night though, so I'm not sure I'll manage to stay awake when I get back in. We shall see, life is full of mystery.

Road House - Why did Jackie Treehorn go through all this trouble? Why did everyone cheer when he trashed that car place if everyone is supposed to hate him? Hero and villain neighbours? What's this film even about? The threesome aura with Swayze, Lynch and Sam Elliot was really overwhelming for a while, kinda disappointed it didn't happen. It all wasn't as enjoyable sober, as it was just too self-awaringly trashy at times.

The nightmarish room of taxidermy terror is the best thing ever.
