The Spurs thread

Shame on Danny Rose. Shame. Pushed Hiddink. Championed Cantona kungfu for me. Hiddink is peaceful professional manager and did no provoke.

Just seen this. Absolutely no excuse for some of what went on during and after the game. Retrospective bans coming in the three's or four's.

Amid all the Glaston mockery, I think it's fair to say that Spurs have a young, exciting team and they've been excellent this season. Assuming Pochettino stays for the next few years they'll be thereabouts but part of me thinks that this was their one big chance. What are the chances of all of the traditional big clubs making such a feeble attempt at the title next year or the year after that? What chance Guardiola will fail to massively improve that City side? Or that Chelsea will be so monumentally gash for the first few months of the season? Even the Scousers are bound to improve when Klopp gets a few of 'his' players in.

I just can't see so many variables falling in favour of the likes of Spurs and Leicester next season. They'll have to go way beyond what they've done this time around and they'll have to show that this wasn't just some bizarre anomaly. I can't honestly see it happening.
Agreed, and good point.

Leicester and Spurs will be strong next season doubtlessly, but also presumably won't be the beneficiaries of abortive seasons from so many of their competitors again. In fact, almost all said competitors will be headed up by proven managers in their first full year at the club next season with a full Summer to rebuild behind them.

I hope against hope United will be included in that bracket by June.

... There's a trend showing that Poch doesn't like working at clubs for more than 2 years.

 You've clearly missed the news. It's near the end of his 2nd year at Spurs and he's just signed a new contract ...

Firstly congratulations to Leicester, well deserved!

As for Spurs we've confirmed CL group stages tonight which was above what we expected or probably even hoped for in August.

And I really don't think we are going away next season, this team has so much going for it and we are very proud of our them.
Congrats on this season.

I do not think you will go away either, but instead of the 4 teams usually challenging for the top 4 collapsing (Liverpool, United, Chelsea and City) and Arsenal being an Arsenal you will have a lot more competition for your place in that elite group. I also have sneaky feeling that Bilic and Koeman may also put in a decent challenge again for the top 6, so it is going to be some season next year.

It was only Spurs players who were absolute scumbags tonight.

Spurs lost the plot. Should've had multiple red cards and will probably and rightfully be in some serious shit after the FA look at the tape.

 I just said the FA will look at the tape. Yeah right.

Oh right, well I only saw a few individual incidents and the thing at the end. I guess now that I think of it, it did always seem to be a Spurs player involved. Just a case of sour grapes I'm guessing so.

Jesus fecking wept  I've never seen such a dirty performance from a team. Was shocking to say the least. Dembele, lamela, Dier and even kane could have all been sent off. I think some of them thought "feck it! Leicester have won the league anyway, let's go break some legs". Even when it got clawed back to 2-2 they were more interested in hacking the players rather than trying to get a winner. Clatternburg is a big curly haired tit for that performance of his tonight, to not even send one spurs player is ridiculous. But it was against Chelsea so I can forgive them for that tonight.

Never has there been such a fine line between skilled wummertry and absolute bollocks...

What was going on in this game at the end? Saw a bit of it on Sky. Seems to be a few incidents during the game too. Never realized spurs/chelsea were so heated.

Like football in the 70s.

 You need to get over it, it was a London derby, we don't like each other and there was a bit of passion out there. I bloody loved it, can't believe that deep down others didn't.

Thank you, I'm sure everybody who should be better will be and that includes us, next season could be monumental.

Can't see your players trying to gouge CP players, can't see Dier trying to break WHU players' legs either. Your players were utter scumbags tonight.

I'd even say that you don't do half as much shite against Arsenal which indeed seems to be your rival.

Well to their credit Arsenal players don't routinely behave like Chelsea's if Chelsea were similar I'm pretty sure we would have seen a more restrained Spurs. The ref made it pretty obvious early on that he would let a lot go so we give as good as we got, and rightly so.

Our boys were top draw, they're young and still learning and will make mistakes but great to see the fire and fight we have.

Derby games are supposed to be passionate, I have no complaints from either side, good old fashioned fare.

Look backwards all you want. The reality of here-and-now is that Spurs have a better squad than United, a better manager than United and far more to look forward to next season than United.

Alternatively say the following words in their correct order out loud and think what they entail and mean:

Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur

One is the most famous team in history, the other just lost a title to king richards graveyard in their best premier leauge season.

HTH

Well you can't have any complaints can you

Champions League group next season:

Bayern Munich
Real Madrid
Tottenham

Please

I've never associated Spurs with the sort of display I saw today. That was a shocking release of aggression as it became clear they would be knocked out of the title race. Maybe that's why they couldn't hold on to win, they let their emotions get the best of them. That's one match report I would LOVE to see.

Rose what a cnut,oh well he always was on the first place,he should be banned for that.

They'll be back next season. We're all loving Leicester but this team with this manager are on the right track. I hope we can derail it by taking Poch though :smirk:

Nah he'll be off to a big club like Real or maybe even PSG soon enough.

Glad to see Spurs true colours came out tonight. Bunch of bottling cnuts and just as dirty as we always knew they were. Never change spuds..

For people whom may say Rose might be pushed. From what I saw he tried to hang onto Cesc? while Hiddink tried to walk Cesc (?) away. The Chelseas staff tried to separated Rose coming to Cesc, if anyone paid close attention. Rose kept pushing onto it and accidental or not pushed Hiddink. Maybe pure accident, but cnutish nevertheless. He had his manager tried to separate him vs Willian in game and he ignored his manager, now did this to Hiddink. At least have some respect for your manager and older manager (especially peaceful one like Hiddink).

Wasn't expecting you to come in whining, thought you'd have loved a bit of derby passion?

@Donaldo @Grinner and other gooners.

Any chance of you lot keeping up the long standing tradition of st. totteringhams? Given aldreweirland, dembele and rose might miss the coming games.

Would not like today to be end of misery for this bunch of cnuts.

We've always known this day would come, just didn't think it would be 57 years before sp*rs finally finished above us for once.

1-0 (at 73 mins) and 2-0 (at 58 mins) in their last two games and they drop 4 points. The gap could have been 3 points with Leicester and because of the superior goal difference it would only take one loss vs Everton or Chelsea to win the league.

They didn't handle the pressure well. Against West Brom they seemed a bit in shock when it went 1-1 and failed to make many chances afterwards and today at 2-2 they seemed more interested in fighting.

I think everybody at Spurs knew that we realistically had to be ahead before the last game of the season, once that chance was gone we knew it was all over.

But we have thrown away far too many points this season from winning positions, I think I'm right in saying we've lost the most and retrieved the most, but I think we will learn and be better next season.

What was that performance?

Spent the entire first half acting like complete dickheads, then somehow ended up two goals up in a game they'd done little other than act like dickheads in, then when they messed that up started acting like even bigger dickheads, as if the fact they'd been behaving like dickheads all night was anyone's fault other than their own.

Did no one else find the meltdown at the end completely unsurprising? They'd been behaving like spoilt, twattish children all night so they weren't exactly going to react any differently by that point.

We were even waiting watching it at the end for one or more of their players to make a dickhead of themselves on the way down the tunnel, and were not disappointed.

They just look like an embarassment now. They look like a team who suddenly desperately need to sign some different players to avoid being engulfed by their own self entitled stupidity next season. And I'm not joking. If that's how they react to losing a title race they were never really in then they have big problems coming next year. They're a good side but nowhere near good enough to pull off winning games while behaving like that. Hilariously embarassing stuff.

Any rumours of players Spurs are looking at over the summer?

You talked about your own opinion here. It was there for everyone to see how Spurs players were still clinging on the hope coming into this game. When things went tits up, look at the show got served by Spurs players.

Not saying Chelsea is saint. However, Spurs collectively championed Chelsea's cnutish today.

It was all over after 1-1 at home to West Brom. Today just made it official. Whenever there was real possibility of Spurs to win it they kinda choked it away. That WHU match also springs to mind.

Its hard to keep liking spurs after that pathetic thuggish display. For all the talent in the squad if they lose their heads like that they will never have the bottle to win a title.

Witsel and Batshuayi are rumours and a bit less so Umtitti which I can't see likely. We do need a DM player and a forward so the first two could well be of interest to Poch.

I wouldn't expect more than 2 in and definitely not more than 3.

Batshuayi is more than a rumour as poch has actually talked about it, think in the case of witsel hes being linked with quite a few as he always is.

It's a derby, not sure what people expected, we don't like each other. In a title race or not I don't think this group will be shirking many confrontations. I'm loving the fact that everybody is not liking us, it's usually the domain of the London clubs to passionately hate Spurs, if everybody else wants to join in so much the merrier:drool:

Umtitti would be great for the name alone.

He was put on the spot by a French radio station about Batshuayi and Umtitti, I don't think he really confirmed it, it was more of a 'yes we are looking, France is an important league to look at'. Next thing it was Poch confirms Spurs interest in Batshuayi. I've no idea how good he is as I never watch French football.

As for Witsel you're right it seems every man and his dog and especially the Italian clubs, but he's supposed to have said something or other a while back about the Belgian boys at Spurs being appealing.
