People aren't solely judging him off this Super Cup, after his CL win his Chelsea team declined and made little to no progress, the similar problems that led to his sacking from Chelsea are similar things I see here in the last 5-6 months he's been a manager there. He's won 5 of the 13 competitve games they've played, less then 50% win rate, there has been no sign of improvement in this team, further more the credit he gets for setting up a defense his team has conceeded 20 goals in those 13 games, while it maybe a small sample size at the moment, I think progress is important to look at and as of now Bayern hasn't made any under Tuchel. They have strengthed further this summer, so will see how the next month or two goes for him, but people aren't wrong in pointing this out.

I couldn't imagine a much more unpopular appointment for Bayern fans.
I thought they were pretty bad against us too. It was just that we were somehow even worse! Tuchel doesn't seem to be able to coach an attack well.
Jose at Bayern would be hilarious to watch, so that is what I want.

Despite the loss today they are averaging enough points to get 82 points if they continue this way. That's a number that has never been reached by any club not named Bayern (Klopp's Dortmund got 81 points in 2011/12 and Tuchel's Dortmund got 78 in 15/16). 82 points have been Bayern's result in 16/17 under Guardiola and 19/20 under Kovac / Flick (yes, that season includes firing a manager early on due to low performances). They only got more points three times: 91 in 12/13 under Heynckes, 88 in 15/16 under Guardiola and 84 in 17/18 under Ancelotti / Heynckes (another mid season sacking...)
Tuchel is on course for the fourth best ever Bundesliga season! This is a bit overshadowed because Leverkusen is on track for 91 points (so challenging the all time Bundesliga record).
And as the examples above prove Bayern was firing managers in some of their best ever seasons, so I don't think the good league results are saving Tuchel's job. After the poor cup exit (which is becoming kind of a tradition, it was now the third early exit in four years) he has to deliver results in the CL to save his job I think. Catching Leverkusen would also be helpful, but I doubt if this Bayern squad has that extra gear in them if Leverkusen stay on track.
They sacked Nagelsmann after 25 league match days. Dortmund was leading the table with 53 points (Bayern 52) which would have resulted in 72 and 71 points if they just continued (actually it became 71 for both). The task this season to win the league is just so much harder this year than last year when everyone was crap.
They could make an ambitious attempt to entice Klopp to take it

I'm not so sure. Leverkusen seem very consistent. Granted though they have played a game more so it is essentially a 4-point gap.
Sorry for being slightly off-topic. But is Xabi Alonso the next big thing now? Given that we (United) may well be looking at appointing a new manager some time soon, is he worth it or is it a one-season wonder sort of a thing?

I'd imagine he'd be pretty high up on the list of his former clubs, Real, Liverpool & Bayern to replace their current managers when that time comes.
The outstanding candidate in my opinion. Ancelotti has signed a new contract until 2026, Klopp isn't going anywhere anytime soon and it is suggested that Bayern will stick with Tuchel. This is a unique window for us and the time to strike. He's a young manager too, which is very INEOS.
Personally, I think Alonso to Madrid in 2026 is a done deal.
He wouldn't leave mid season, it might be difficult to get him here at all.
I wasn't thinking mid season, but for the summer. Agreed it may be difficult to get him here, but I think we should at least ask the question.
It will be very interesting at that point what direction the club will be moving, lots of different things could change. I'm not expecting big changes this year, but small creeping ones. I wouldn't be totally shocked if they stick with Ten Hag if they can't get a particularly good replacement.
Yeah I'm not too enamoured with the list of potential candidates. Alonso is the only one of real interest to me.
I checked Bayern's record with managers in the last 20 years out of curiosity. If I was Tuchel I would be shaking.

I would agree with that, just not much out there that's available, though I wouldn't be unhappy with Unai Emery.
Thing is, we're currently playing a very special season. Only twice a team had more points than us after 18 matches: 49 in 2015/16 and 50 in 2013/14. So essentially, only Guardiola coached Bayern teams with Ribery, Robben, Thiago, Müller, Boateng, etc. in their prime. If that's the expectation, you have to fire every coach who's not named Guardiola. Before the last match, Tuchel was actually on track for the best points total in seven years or so. And he has such a thin squad that a few times only four players were on the bench and has to play players out of position to field a decent starting eleven.
Can't imagine they'll sack Tuchel with that in mind. Especially not after the Nagelsmann debacle last winter.
Would be interesting to see if Alonso would consider another top English team like Utd, as you would assume that would rule him out the running for any future potential Liverpool job.
