Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester United

Anyone know who is confirmed missing for Spurs? I know Sandro is out, and Adebayor is at the CAN - is that it? ...

Kaboul remains out, and possibly Disco Benny too, but that's all I know about right now.

Sandro will be a big miss of course, but Parker is capable of doing a good job in his place.

And compared to the game at OT we'll have Lloris in goal (a step up from Friedel IMO) and Vertonghen should be able to play at CB, his best position, rather than filling in at LB.

I'd guess the team will be:

----------- Lloris -----------
Walker - Dawson - Vertonghen - Naughton
------ Parker - Dembele
Lennon - Dempsey - Bale
--------- Defoe ---

Last league match was 30/12/12, United 2-3 Spurs (Evans OG 2', Bale 32', Nani 51', Dempsey 52', Kagawa 53')

Lindegaard
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Scholes
Nani Kagawa Giggs
Persie

2nd to last was 4/3/12, Spurs 1-3 United (Rooney 45', Young 60', 69')

De Gea
Jones Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Scholes
Nani Rooney Young
Welbeck

That was your ridiculously lucky one-off, once-in-20-years, feck-me shocker - it's back to craven white-flag cockerel capitulation now.

So confident ... Utd could give us a 3 goal start and would still win eh?

OK, I'll give you £20 for every goal that Utd score more than Spurs score if you'll give me £50 for a draw and £100 for a Spurs win.

That really is a solid team. But I wouldn't be too excited about not having Friedel - that man has been a wall against us.

Maybe, but Lloris is better and has been top notch for us since he claimed the No. 1 spot.

Fans tend to be biased in favour of their own players, but still there's no other keeper in the Prem I'd swap him for. Spurs hit gold in signing him IMO.

Pretty much everyone is in agreement (bar 1 or 2 players) what the side should be which will probably mean we'll see something totally different!

I'd like to see:

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Nani Rooney Kagawa
Van Persie

However given injuries, fitness and other issues I wouldn't be surprised at all too see:

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Valencia Carrick Cleverley Webeck
Ven Persie Rooney

Wouldn't be surprised if there was a surprise inclusion too like Anderson or maybe even Scholes.

You must be a difficult chap to surprise.

feck off! Am I a charity? Betfair will give me better odds on any of that. Which speaks to your lack of bottle.

Our full backs are going to have their hands full. I think Valencia and Nani might start to help their fullbacks. I think Nani will help more than Shinji.

If he is to play why not ask Rooney to help out Evra when necessary? Just swap him and Kagawa around.

And i think that one of Nani or Velencia would be best. I can see Fergie opting for the latter.

That is mental, because he is our best player? You don't drop everybody when form disappears, and he is coming back from injury, the more minutes the better.

:lol: Retarded CAF myth #373 - "Players often regain form and match fitness on the bench."

It's not to 'maintain fitness' it's because Rooney is a world class player and you don't drop them players, you need to play them through it as they are indispensible.

Rooney is not indispensable, particularly with this seasons' evolution of the side. And he's not even in the top five when it comes to player performance in 12/13.

This isn't to say i wouldn't play him against Spurs necessarily.

Just watched the second half of the reverse fixture again.. front four of RVP Rooney Kagawa and Nani. Scholes' range of passing is ridiculous.

What I would like to see:

--------------De Gea----------------
Rafael----Rio----------Vidic------Evra
---------------Carrick---------------
---------Cleverley------Giggs--------
---------------Kagawa--------------
--------Rooney----------RVP---------

What we'll probably see:

--------------De Gea----------------
Rafael----Rio----------Vidic------Evra
-------Carrick--------Cleverley-------
Valencia-----------------------Kagawa
---------------Rooney----------------
-----------------RVP-----------------

Are there no worries about the snow dicking this fixture up? I'm at work a few miles from WHL now and it's been snowing steadily for the past two hours but not really settling yet. Not sure if it's due to get worse.

Yea. Hopefully the game does not get cancelled. 4 day weekend w/o football will suck.

Sandro out is a big loss for them. Parker isn't very good. Could see Tony starting to give Rafael more protection against Gareth Bale.

We'll defeat them.

Sandro's a huge loss for you guys. He was outstanding against us at OT. Parker isn't a bad replacement though to be fair.

Friedel was immense against us at OT and has been harshly dropped imo, did nothing to warrant getting dropped but I suppose when you spend that much on a new GK you have to play him.

feck off! Am I a charity? Betfair will give me better odds on any of that. Which speaks to your lack of bottle.

Didn't you say that Utd could give us a 3 goal head start and would still win?

Seeing as the game will start 0 - 0 (and not 3 - 0), you're apparently predicting, based on the above, that Utd will score at least 4 goals.

Given your goals prediction and your uber-dismissal of Spurs chances, my offer is pretty generous since it would give you £20 for every goal that Utd score more than Spurs score.

If Utd score at least 4 - and since you of all people can hardly expect the pathetic Spurs attack to breach the almost impenetrable wall of Utd's rock-solid defence more than once (and even once would obviously require us to be "ridiculously lucky") ... you stand to make at least £60.

Or could it be that your prediction is not made so confidently after all?

Ronaldo's Madrid's best player and would still be one even if he went on a slump. Right now, RvP is technically our best player but Rooney's as important as any other player. Those who discredit Rooney's importance to the team have memory of a goldfish. Surely we should have learned that by now?

And I hope you do realize he didn't feature against West Brom.

yeah sorry....i meant swansea

You'd have to be arrogant to say 'Spurs aren't very good'...even if you do support Arsenal (a situation which shouldn't encourage arrogance).

Inconsistent, yes. Not very good, no. They play simple, effective football...it may well come under 'pace rape' at times, but it's currently got them 6 points ahead of Arsenal with a firm hold on 4th place. Long may it continue...but hopefully they can afford to slip up this weekend and still have a good grip on 4th.

That means we're in for one hell of a game. Has any of your predictions concerning United paid off this season yet?

He said we would beat Spurs at OT,Lose to City and Liverpool away. I am always really worried when he backs us and confident when he doesnt in big games.

I hear London is meant to get snow all through the weekend, what are the chances that this one may be cancelled?

Most Premier League and Championship matches tend to go ahead, mainly because a lot of the clubs have the facilities to continue running. However if transport becomes an issue, then a postponement may be in order. I do expect this one to go ahead though. Respect to the reds who sit in the hours of traffic to get down there.

Jesus you Brits are pussies when it comes to snow. A cm or two and let's cancel all the games!

Funnily enough does anyone know if there's any sneaky tickets a going for this game? Obviously I'd murder the away end but that ain't gonna be happening now is it ?
