Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester United

instead of roads i should have said foothpaths which is often the problem for these games. i think considering the tv commitments, travel inconveniences and the simple fact that a game of this level simply should never be called off because of some snow and ice the club has a responsibility to make their stadium accessible.

i cant remember the exact stat but the weekend we were cancelled vs chelsea and about 20 more games in uk were too, there was one game cancelled in germany in arguably worse conditions and that was something like a third division game. theres no excuses for it, thats just my opinion though.

I see what you mean, but how far does a club take gritting , do they just do near the ground or do they got to all the rail /tube stations.
When you grit at home,I bet you only grit you path and maybe the footpath out side you house, you dont grit that whole street.
All down to the local council and again down to money, they wont have money to grit everywhere.

IIIRC Chelsea weren't too keen on that game going ahead at that time ?

why are people saying "Why are they going to call off the game?" when no such thing was said (yet).

I'll be fuming if this is cancelled. It's sad, but this match is pretty much the only thing I have to look forward to today.

People are on the trains and buses on their way to the stadium now and they are going to call this off? It should have been done in the morning if needed. Who is going to compensate back the time and money to these people?

I think you can refund your ticket but you ain't getting any money for the train or fuel.

This. People on here are getting way ahead of themselves.

Kneejerking... in a matchday thread? Never!

i see your point and its hard to say because to be honest i dont know the extent of the freezing but tottenham should certainly be responsible for everything in and around the grounds, at least as far as the nearest tube station. by responsible i mean personally to an extent but some sort of agreement with the councils. its hard to imagine a simple "hey, weve got a globally televised event on sunday with 40,000 people travelling to our stadium, any chance of some extra attention as as far as the tube stops around our ground?". maybe its the uk's fault and not tottenhams. we say it every year, the countrys reaction to snow and ice is simply disgraceful compared to other nations. scandinavia must be shut down 6 months of the year if uk is anything to go by.

Steady on, no-one's blamed Carrick yet.

This just in from Tottenham:

"Today's match against Manchester United remains on at this point in time. However the situation is being monitored and much will depend on whether or not there is any substantial snow before kick off at 1600."

Or Valencia.

The game is already off in my eyes. Mentally accept it now so when it happens you won't be pissed off.

In Norway we're laughing at you.

Oh please let's not get started with countries that have proper snow:lol:

I'ts not even that; year in year out we never seem prepared for this. It's not as if this wasn't predicted months ago:confused:

Pathetic really. So we're talking about a potential postponement as late as, what, 3.00/3.30?

Don't worry, folks, I've got 4000000 loaves of bread if we end up starving because of the two-centimetre snowfall.

I never understand the complaints, of course places that have a lot of snow are better at dealing with it.

It's not worth us going to the same lengths for one or two days a year.

No doubt people on benefits are to blame for this travesty.

Its just this country in general that halts to a standstill when we get a bit of snow.

I read that Heathrow have spent £36 million over the past 2 years preparing for the snow and yet hundreds of flights were delayed and cancelled with huge queues at the terminals in the past few days.

The concept of calling the game off today is ridiculous because snow in itself is not dangerous. It's not as though it's turned really icy yet. Health and safety gone fecking mad.

they'll probably call it off because of the conditions around the stadium 5 mins before kick off when everybody's already there.

If it happens, is pathetic. They could have made the call much earlier.

Fact is, people at the game have already travelled. In another hour or so, they'll be around the ground, in boozers etc. they've left it ridiculously late.

i dont understand saying the uk shouldnt be as prepared as other countries get more snow. 3 or 4 years in a row now theres been snow which has had the usual front page headlines of a nation at a standstill, travel chaos etc etc etc....of course they should be as well prepared

The snow around here has definitely gotten thicker and heavier in the passed half an hour. They really can't cancel this though with everyone already having travelled, it'd be a joke.
