Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester United

The snow around here has definitely gotten thicker and heavier in the passed half an hour. They really can't cancel this though with everyone already having travelled, it'd be a joke.

can and will. embarrasing

Chelsea VS Arsenal certainly going ahead, it seems. Players out already warming up.

This one seems in dodgy territory due to the timing.

If it turns into a safety risk they will do it and it won't be the first time a football match has been cancelled an hour before the game.

West London much better than North ? Or is the timing of the game that is a issue ?

in this country the Heath and safety nuts will always win over simple common sense, when I was a kids, buses run, schools stayed open and the country did not grind to a stand still.

Yeah, the odd kid broke their neck, but so what?

quite right. cant get a job today without taking about 15 courses on how not to break yourself, yet we all seem to manage at home. if its cancelled some people should get down there and go for a run around in front of sky cameras (how did they get there)....shock news: human beings can walk carefully on snow.

they are probably also considering the duration of the game and what the conditions will be like at the end when thousands of people are leaving the stadium.

Its not snowing heavily though and its meant to ease off as the day goes on I thought.

I blame the ambulance chasers.

how many people do you know, or closely know of that broke their neck in snow? i know zero. i also know zero that have ever even sprained an ankle, wrist or taken a knock to the head.

i heard the opposite, worse as day goes on :(

Is it time to blame Giggs and Fergie yet? I'd bet Nani has something to do with this too.

Forecast Summary

Today

Dull and cold, with some light snow flurries to start the day. Snow becoming heavier and more persistent during the day, particularly across eastern parts where significant accumulations are expected. East or northeasterly winds making it feel bitter in exposure.

Tonight

Cloudy with snow clearing north during the evening to leave a mostly dry night but remaining very cold and icy with a widespread frost.

Doesn't look great as per that. :( Possible to delay this till the night or something?

No, it's getting heavier in the lead in to the game.

Point is we've known this for weeks but they'll suddenly decide, Oh look it's getting dangerous to walk around....fecking joke!

I live in Enfield (about 15-20mins away from White Hart Line) and it is not looking good if I'm being honest. The snow has got much thicker and it doesn't look like stopping anytime soon.

The main road (Hertford) which goes all the way to the stadium doesn't seem too bad at the moment though as the council laid loads of salt down last night. It is just all of the side roads in the area which have been left untouched that may cause serious problems for people trying to get to the game.

have we though? i looked at the weather forecast for my area on friday morning and they could even get friday afternoon right.

The snow looks in for the day, I have no idea why we leave decisions like this so late.

Get the Adidas Tango football out and get on with it.

Phew... That was close.

I think basically because no matter how many millions the met office spend on their computers they constantly get it wrong. So a lot is left to chance..

Best method: Look out the bloody window.

The radars have shown for about 3 days now that Sunday was going to be the worst so far. They've had plenty of time to prepare or make a decision and failed. Still a mass amount right now coming in and it's not going to be stopping till later tonight at the earliest.

Don't expect any change what so ever. It's not going to stop snowing before the game, therefor the conditions aren't going to get any better.

There's no chance it should be called off, but I'm starting to believe there's no chance it's going ahead now. Gutted we had to be the late kickoff, this would of went ahead if it was earlier.

Some Spurs fans have already arrived there. Pitch looks fine and travelling is still manageable according to them.

so much for all of these "emo" posts :) looks like the game's going to go on just fine....goes to show you how people exagerate everything.

i dont understand saying the uk shouldnt be as prepared as other countries get more snow. 3 or 4 years in a row now theres been snow which has had the usual front page headlines of a nation at a standstill, travel chaos etc etc etc....of course they should be as well prepared

Most of it is media overhype.

The areas in the US that get a LOT of snow in winter are extremely well prepared and carry on almost uninterrupted. The areas that sometime get a few bad days are the same as England.

It is not financially worth being more prepared because the cost to do so outweighs a couple days per year of crappy conditions. School's hardly power the economy anyways. Nor government workers, the other big benefactors of snow days.
