Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

With regards to VvD, I can respect that he's sticking to his guns and makes his intentions official. I think it's much more sneaky that a player is pushing so damn hard for a move, while refusing to hand in a transfer request and abstain from his 'loyalty' bonus.
It's not necessary to bitch around in public to make his intentions clear to the club. Just imagine David going out during that lvg period and being like "cnuts, I'm out and I'm not training since I want to clear my mind, see ya in Madrid". Whenever a player does something like that he gives the buying club more power to negotiate and his price drops.

Anyone heard of him before?
Yup, decent winger/attacker, had some alright seasons at Schalke now. Like how Niang at Milan have looked like or a light version of how Auba looked in Milan/early days at BVB I'd say. Physical, technical but not that much of end product unfortunately.

For those who wonder why United has not been interested in chasing players of Bale's world class quality during this transfer window.

The full transcript also says "if what you write is true", ie real forcing him out and having Mbappe in.

That's the unrealistic part of it all. You'd have to assume real actually make a bid again, Monaco accept and then Bale to leave without much fuss, and that to us as well. Quite a few ifs and buts on the way for a transfer window that's in the final month.

It's amazing that all this Coutinho news is coming out and yet RAWK will not allow anyone to discuss it.

If that's not burying your head in the sand, then I don't know what is.

Hopefully no-one. What I mean by that is if we haven't identified someone else after those 2 who we want then there's no point signing someone for the sake of it. We should definitely not panic-buy. We're better off saving that money and trying in January or next summer.
Good point, however I'm not confident our current attacking players can push for the title. We haven't really addressed our main problem (breaking teams down when parking the bus). Lukaku is just Ibra's replacement in my opinion so another creative signing in the form of a winger is a must. But like you said, there is no point chasing panic buys if the right players aren't available.

Was always more impressed with him than Sane when watching Schalke in the UCL a few years back. Think Stoke is about his level right now though and will be interesting to see how he gets on there.

What a coincidence that he'd only leave for Barca considering they're the only team after him. I'm sure if Madrid were interested instead, they'd be the 'only team' Coutinho would leave Liverpool for too.

Really? Didn't know that. Great news for African players if so. Managers unlikely to think twice about signing them, now.
Still every 2 years so the risk of injuries is higher. But yeah, the Jan/Feb period will be easier to deal with.

Its kind of stupid how the Saints have handled it.
From a bidding war, they have reached a scenario where they will be low balled and will have to accept some bid by the time the window ends.
Were they realistically expecting him to stay follow all the antics? It would have made sense of the club in question was Everton and had at least a bit of ambition.
Saints are no way near European football.

That's if they sell. He's got five years left on his contract. They should make him rot. Also a WC next year. If he doesn't play, he surely doesn't go.

Because Real may decide he's surplus to requirements. If that does turn out to be the case, where do you think he'll go?

I don't see that happening. If that does, then Manchester United seems plausible, but again, I'm sure both Real Madrid and Bale want to keep it as it is for now.

There has been a lot of talk about Real signing Mbappe, meaning Bale might have to go. You're probably correct, though.

I don't believe Bale is in any hurry to leave.

thats the only way he leaves - if Real show him the door

hence people are asking why Phi continues to suggest Bale will suddenly decide he wants to press for a move away from a club he said he was extremely happy at?

I have no idea who Phi is.

He basically said this just after Duncan Castles had wrote a article saying we wouldn't be in the running for Bale.

Which means? Sorry lol I'm hanging like a bat and my brain is not working. Is that good or bad?

Which means, Phil Brown was on the money regards our interest in Bale and Castles was off the mark if Mourinho's presser is anything go by.

Yeah that's right. Cheers mate. But people say he's bullshiter, right?

He's not, he just rubs people up the wrong way because he's quite clearly a bit of a dick, and has strong views he's happy to talk about. He gets plenty right, gets some wrong too. Clearly has connections and info, but no one is ever 100% all of the time.

Phil recently said that Andreas Pereira is still unsure about his future at Man Utd in response to Castle's article. Makes me worried.

Yeah, I know. That was just tongue-in-cheek comment.

BREAKING NEWS

Virgil van Dijk has handed in a transfer request at Southampton.

A statement issued via his management company reads: “It is with regret that I can confirm that I have today handed in a transfer request to leave Southampton Football Club.

“Unfortunately I feel I have no alternative after I was given notice of the Club's intention to impose a disciplinary sanction against me of a fine equivalent to 2 weeks wages. I will be appealing what I feel to be an unjustified sanction and their inability to follow the correct disciplinary protocol in due course.

“Over the past six months I have held numerous discussions with representatives of the board, the former manager Claude Puel as well as the new manager Mauricio Pellegrino to inform them all of my desire to leave the club in search of a new challenge.

I am incredibly ambitious and want to achieve as much as I possibly can to fulfil my potential in what is a very short career as a professional footballer. I want to play European football again and challenge for major honours and as such I would like Southampton to consider the interest in me from top clubs should it still exist.

The rest of the Virgil van Dijk statement reads...

“I have been left frustrated by the club's position that I am not for sale and am disappointed that enquiries from multiple top clubs have been consistently rebuffed.

“The period of time that I have just spent injured and unable to play has put a number of things into perspective and made me realise just how important it is to take major opportunities should they arise.

“I have consistently relayed my feelings to senior management at Southampton in what I believed to be private and personal conversations. Disappointingly, these conversations have regularly found their way into the media.

“I would also like to make clear that I have never once refused to train. I can confirm that I was asked about my frame of mind and for all of the reasons mentioned above I was open and honest in saying that I did not feel I was in a settled mindset given the circumstances.

“Following this conversation the manager explained that he only wanted players who he felt were 100% committed to Southampton and told me I would therefore have to train away from the first team.

“As a proud professional I am insulted by the suggestion that it was me who refused to train and so feel it is important to point out the true version of events.”

I thought pool were in for him?
