Pretty simple really Rory. Last season was a blip - Pool have had a blip for 20 odd years. Suarez is gone now too.

United have a much bigger world-wide appeal & resources to bring better players in than Pool have too. We have LvG who is in the Fergie mould & that's a massive draw for players who want to win major trophies..

Also, Pool fans rob their own players houses while they're off playing :smirk:

I agree that in terms of the club and the resources, everything looks to be in place. I'd just argue that for a player looking at it, that means nothing if that Adidas, Chevrolet Noodle etc. money isn't used to properly address our ropey looking backline, our lack of options in midfield and at full back and the terrible form of our senior wingers. I think we'll improve this year but I think it's optimistic to think it's a blip, the reality is that our squad is the 4th or 5th best in the league and several top class players away from the best in Europe.

If we were to bring in a couple of quality players then others may follow but at the moment they'll see two teams of similar standard and two massive clubs but one has Champions League football and a manager who is in for the long haul and one who has no European football and a brilliant but short-term manager.

Lampard off to a great start.

I'd forgotten all about that. He was young & being a complete twat amongst other twats. He doesnt seem to be that type of bloke anymore though - far from it. That was a long time ago too..

Still though, what a PR disaster that that's been brought up now. He's gonna have to do some serious making up to get an easy life there.

Lucky bastard gettin the opportunity - at his age, to play football in New York & then onto Melbourne (most likely) too.. Thats a life we can only imagine - well me anyway..

Twitter has changed everything.

It sure has, but if you're so certain that your information is good, why would you spend so much time talking your own case as they do?
Don't know if you're on twitter and looked through their recent tweets, but they've spent the past 45 minutes talking their case to different twitter users.

I agree! A truly reliable source wouldn't feel the need to constantly prove their reliability.

"The Vidal interest has gone a bit quiet. I don't think the interest was high as it was reported in Italy."

Mark Ogden on Talksport just now.

All of these journalists calling out fake journalists is basically the beginning of the internet eating itself. It usually goes like this:

1. Bullshitter 1 says something about a transfer.
2. Lots of people follow Bullshitter 1.
3. Eventually Definitely Not A Bullshitter 1 calls him out on being a fake. "Never even heard of you/I happen to know your editor and he says..." etc.
4. Bullshitter 1 suggests they take it to DM.
5. Definitely Not A Bullshitter 2 arrives to back up his mate Definitely Not A Bullshitter 1.
6. They both agree Bullshitter 1 is, in fact, a bullshitter.
7. They all argue for a while, in full view of everyone, obviously. They cherry pick replies from the Twitter masses which support their argument and ignore the hundreds of messages along the lines of "Stop spamming my timeline, you pair of cnuts".
8. After a while both Bullshitter 1 and Definitely Not A Bullshitter 1 declare themselves the winner of the argument and claim to be taking the higher ground by not talking about the other again.
9. They quickly abandon the higher ground and start mocking Bullshitter 1 and every publication he's claimed to work for.
10. Bullshitter 1 goes quiet for a day or two and then comes back with another transfer 'scoop'.
11. Repeat ad nauseum.

Shooting fish in a barrel and making it look like you hit a fish each time.

In other words ''I'm not being briefed every day like i was last year and don't have a fecking clue what United are actually doing in the transfer market.''

Hard to continue to claim that it's United briefing the media, isn't it?
Seems like most of the stories about him being close to join us are based on old 'information', perhaps a lot of media outlets just milking the cow for more views?

I don't think anyone is claiming its United briefing the media... infact most seem to agree United have completely shut the media out in terms of tranfers

"I don't think" Does not sound confident to be fair. If not Vidal, who so Ogden? Nigel de fecking Jong?

I was thinking about when we briefed that we had never contacted him (or something like that).
Just seem strange that it's more or less the same information that's being re-run over and over again, quoting other media outlets who're quoting other media outlets, etc.

I'm sure once Ogden says something positive about a United transfer story he'll once again become the "best United source" ever.

Or the information is being briefed by another avenue. There is always of course more than one party involved in a transfer. United may not be talking but doesn't mean others are not.

Take the Herrera deal for instance, they Story broke in Spain, and English jornos were still saying that we were not in for him (the king Ogdan was one of them)

I'm not saying there is anything to see here, but there is most certainly no smoke without fire.

It's more that he won't just pluck stuff out of his arse to put in articles, he'll have got info from a good source at the club. It's just that, like the above tweet regarding Herrera demonstrates - often, folk at the club will lie to him and other journos.

Ando is already gone really and I try not to think about Fellaini. We can sell the 3 wingers as I imagine Welbeck, Januzaj, Kagawa, Mata and Valencia will be occupying the wide areas in the league and we have Lingard and Lawrence for the cups. If we sell Cleverley then surely we must have at least 2 new CM's coming in.

Hell of a tweet, I discovered we were interested in Kramer and have missed out on him all in one go!

Christ, not another Pirates of the Caribbean film...

Probably not returned from respective holidays/breaks for the promo picture.
Those players are wearing last season's kit. They could've used Vidal or Pogba pictures from last season like they have the others.
