Take it in context, he was asked this at an airport, he was flying somewhere he was asked is he going (flying) to Manchester, not going to Manchester United, the answer was no. That's why his later comments made sense.
I haven't seen the video and I assume it was rushed, but a lot of journos are seemingly taking it out of context and categorically writing off United's chances while stating he might leave when we are the only club that's been extensively linked with him.

This is one of the more interesting options we have been linked with in a while, given how much movement we saw in the system last night I think he'd fit right into the midfield set up.
I fancy it's just the latest bullshit rumour that will be gone in a few days

The sooner some of these transfers go through the better. It might stop some of the nonsense stories.

Woody's got this!

Not to mentioned the world's most prepared bid in the history of sport. It's going to shock the world when Vidal, who said "No, No..." to United, is so overawed by the quality of the handwriting and the neatness of the binding in the proposal papers, that he runs to the media and screams "Yes! Yes!" - like a smitten woman staring at a man on bent knee.

Surely we're out of the market for wingers and attackers now. LvG has said that 3-5-2 will be our main formation and that we're already overstocked with AMs.

Unless they're going to link us with a wingback, midfielder or defender I would ignore most tweets. Actually, I'd ignore most tweets regardless.

Yep, I think we'll be in the market for a couple of centre-backs, a left-back and maybe a holding midfielder.

Yeah. The Cuadrado rumours make so much sense though with Rafael and Valencia signing a new contract it's perhaps unnecessary.

We need speed and a player who can consistently beat players off the dribble, Cuadrado leads the Serie A in the dribble department. With di maria seemingly off to psg, cuadrado is the next best thing.

Cuadrado is pretty versatile actually and could be a needed option if we play 4-3-3.

He can play off the striker or Wingback in 3-5-2 so we don't really need him there though.

Won't mind signing him, but he won't be priority right now and he doesn't strike me as a too good too miss player either right now.

There's no way that's real. They've got to be doing some kind of dodgy avoid sell on clause deal if this is true right? Or did they think Carrol and Torres reflected market value for players.

1) It's Monaco
2) Top Portuguese clubs never sell cheap
3) He's coming off the back of a brilliant season

While it's a lot of money, it's hardly Carroll territory in terms of being a bad deal. Gaitan's a quality player.

Is that Gaitan fee even correct ? Haven't seen it reported much elsewhere ?

Surely buying Griezman for less would make more sense to a French club.

Ah the annual Arda Turan link, wondering what took it so long

I've only actually seen us linked to him once or twice.

Huntelaar on the other hand is another story...this must be the only season in the past 5 years or so that we haven't been linked to him which is crazy considering who our new manager is.

The thing with the 3-5-2 is that your two wingbacks need to be the best players in your team or else the opposition will exploit the wide areas week in, week out. As good as Valencia and Rafael are, they have too many weaknesses both when going forward and defending. I think the pair of them are best suited to a 4-4-2 where there's always a covering player or an overlapping runner.

No idea about Cuadrado, but he sounds a bit more reliable and creative. I hate to say it, but I've got a feeling Rafael might be sold if we bring him in.

Rafael was incredibly reliable for the 2 seasons prior to the last one to his credit. I'm not sure that we (most of us, atleast) know enough about Cuadrado to make the assumption that he's more reliable defensively than Rafael, it seems like a little wishful thinking based on little evidence if you ask me.

So Arsenal's third choice centre-back, a crock, has the choice between joining Manchester United or Barcelona? I hope he Barcelona.

Blind and de Vrij'll do nicely.

Thing with De Vrij is he seemed suited to playing RCB in a back 3. Not sure how suited he would be to play LCB as the side matters lot more in a back 3 compared to a back 2/4.

I think LVG would like a Left footed centre back ideally for the LCB role. Who else is there?

Blind.

He did a good job at the World cup there in 1 and a half games, but can he be a regular starting CB for Us ? Hasn't ever played as a CB through his career as far as i can tell before with any sort of regularity.

He would be good option for Midfield, LWB, and LCB backup in a squad role.

In terms of other options There's Lovren actually but he might be slightly on the slow side for playing that role as you get stretched out wide.

Atleast on Paper Vermaelen the more i think about meets our needs. Leader at the back, good on the ball and that would like the ideal role for him at his peak.Problem is he is injury prone these days and not that good when he plays as the injuries also hinder.

Maybe we should consider bidding big for Vertonghen ?

He'd be ideal but we're not going to do business with Tottenham and Levy.

Thought it was just gill who refused to do business with him? Were we not in for Bale at one point last summer?

Personally I think suck it up. He might be a pain in the arse but ... I dunno, just suck it up.
Just seems a bit childish to refuse to do business with him because hes difficult.

Maybe we could get Vertonghen if Pochettino is desperate to get Lovren and the Liverpool move falls through?

More likely, though, we'll look elsewhere for the left-sided CB we need.

I'm surprised we haven't been linked with Inigo Martinez, who is at Sociedad so could presumably be bought, since they generally are forced to sell, should be out of the CL with Valencia having money and Atletico being not a mess any longer, and they're better off taking our money than Madrid or Barca's and having him stay in Spain. He's left-footed, young and highly rated. I haven't seen enough to fall in love, but he looked pretty good for the Spain U-21 side. No idea if he's got the pace to play as a wide CB.

We could also buy a defensive LB and just move him inside, but I'm not sure those exist anymore. Any Abidal types around?

He had a mediocre season and the hype has died down now a bit for the price Sociedad wants.

Aymeric Laporte the french center back at Bilbao is getting the attention now. He has played LB, is decently quick and pretty two footed.

Only 20 though and we'd have to pay the release clause thing again which is at 42 million euros.

Barca bought one in Mathieu. We were linked with Kolasinac from Germany though he is again bit young.

It'd be a experiment but i think Shaw can play there pretty well.

Not bad looking. It can shift to a 4-3-3 without even a sub.
