Soton has become liverpool's feeder club or what?

As for defender and certainly better than present pool's options at cb position. Not by very much though.

di Maria can't be asking for that much, surely?

Thats the amount PSG are offering him. Not necessarily what he was initially looking for.

Dont find it that hard to believe PSG are offering stupid money.

I wish they'd stop with the Strootman in January stuff, we need a CM now and there is zero reason to think Roman would sell their midfield anchor mid-season. Schneiderlin is uninspiring but the best of the other options as far as being attainable, PL proven and young enough for van Gaal to develop him.

We have a Dutch manager so we must buy Dutch players, how imaginative, and yes I know LvG bought Dutch before at his clubs but look at the vast difference in class of those Dutch players and the current crop.

United insists with Di María http://bit.ly/1rDyxCf

I think Real are keen to get the loot in for Di Maria and are using their mouthpiece to hurry PSG along by mentioning us.

Southampton have now gained around 80m for Shaw, Lallana, Lovren and Lambert. All the jibes about "selling club" is perhaps fair but I don't think many club would've rejected these deals.

Their mouth piece is Marca

They've done well, but it's all for nothing if they can't replace them. I'd be furious if I supported them.

When are they gonna start spending alll that loot?
As soon as Cortese left last year a load of Southampton journos wrote that the new lady wasn't enamoured of football and would look to sell their big stars, replace them with cheaper alternatives and either cut back on investment and sell the club, or look to repeat the selling trick with the new bunch. Doesn't look a million miles away at the moment.

£20million seems a lot for Lovren. It's a risk certainly.

The issue is there's not a lot of quality centre-backs around, I don't know who else we could get for that money that you would see as a marked improvement on Lovren. City are paying £32million for Mangala who is France's fourth choice centre-back at best.

For some reason it reminds me of Cathy Geiss taking over GE on the show 30 Rock.

Won't surprise me if Schneiderlin is next.

They've bought a good replacement for Lallana in Tadic, imo. Don't know about Pelle as a Lambert replacement but replacing Lovren would be tough.

Would expect Koeman to go for De Vrij actually, if he can lure him. He has already openly declared interest in Vlaar.

Not saying that I would be happy, but I could honestly see LVG going for someone Blind as he is a reliable player but 17mill? no thanks.

Without a doubt, the definition of average.
His versatility would be useful but he'd be backup for left back, center back and defensive midfield. He's average but we need back up in those positions so its not too bad. For £17m though I'd be hesitant. If he was around £10m or so then I'd be all for it.

So am I to take it from that that we were trying to buy players not agreed by LVG? If true, good to see we've managed to learn the lessons of last summer, just in time to make some brand new ones.
