We're going to end up with nobody, the LvG is happy with the squad statements will starts getting released over the next 2 weeks.
We've signed two players, that's the problem of doing business early, people have forgotten Shaw and Herrera already.

Average players dont turn into great players overnight. The deadwood we have has been evident for 2-3 years. I for one am f*cking sick of seeing them play in the shirt & its about time we stopped that policy of handing a shirt to an average player who might come good..

This other policy of only goin for players who really want to play for the club is as brain-dead also. Most great players will fall in love with the club once they're here..

Agreed, this selective memory that is allowing for claims of players only regressing under Moyes is getting tiresome, there are a few in this squad that have been poor a lot longer than that.

Our supposed interests in Vermalen, De vrij, Blind etc.., I don't understand the hold up in these deals. These should be bread and butter deals for a club like us and if they are being delayed, then there is something seriously wrong with the suits.

Not sure, LvG said he want to give the current squad time to see what they can do under his training first then do business, must admit I didn't take it seriously at all but maybe he does.

But you would honestly think deals are lined up, and that we are not going to wait until mid August to jump in, but I'm just not that sure anymore.

My what a pedantic lot we have in here. Any negative twatter rumours regarding a target and the whole world is going to end and "no value in the market"..."how could we turn him down" etc etc comments come out. In the next 12hours I predict a probably bs positive link and suddenly muppetstarbation will resume.
LVG has stated he wants to have a look at the squad first before deciding on movement of players....he is currently doing that....And that is ALL we know from LVG and ALL it appears anybody know be it the press, the likes of Mitten, the twatter "I want some more follows lets rumour some shit" brigade etc etc. One of the things Woodward has said is that from speaking to agents there are a lot of players interested in playing for the club regardless of CL football and that we are able to spend unlike most other clubs. This could be a load of horse manure but for all we know we may already have deals lined up and LVG is assesing whether to finalise them. I still think we need at least two or three more signings and we have had a few summer now to be fair of underwhelming transfers with the added piss off of the muppet signing that doesnt happen but lets wait and see what transpires as I cant believe we wont see another two players through the door who ever they may be, then we can whine or muppetstarbate when we know who they are when/if the come.

Agreed, but be careful you're talking rationally and you are not hysterical :smirk:

Nobody is expecting we turn into Real Madrid but it is obvious that after last season we need some proper reinforcement.

We just saw the likes of rio, Evra, vidic and Giggs leave/retire, these players we're magnificent and world class to this club, it would make sense to replace them with quality. People suggesting this squad is good enough are wrong in my opinion. Van Gaal can only do so much with these players.

Chelsea made some major signings and are having a far superior summer compared to us. I am not expecting a "new shiny toy" or whatever but when a world class player is available and plays in an area where we lack some serious quality, it does not make sense we would not be trying to sign him. And the fact that Woodward makes these huge claims concerning our "financial strength" and "watch this space", you would expect a world class signing and no, de Jong is not the answer.
My thoughts exactly. We need quality players in, not just squad players who can prop the side up. We are seriously lacking and now is the time to invest.

Van gaal is a top manager but every top manager needs top players, and we could do with at least 2-3 more. I'm sure he will get more out of some of the average lot in our squad but he isn't a miracle worker, there's only so much he can do.

I know, I'm happy with those 2, both will be great signings in the coming years but we need more especially after Rio, Giggs (ret), Vidic and Evra all left the club.

I don't think anyone has forgotten about them, it's just that they're not nearly enough. We're weaker now than at the end of last season.

Nah.
Problem is that we need more to really compete for the title imo. Herrera is a great buy no doubt. Shaw might be one, who knows.
So one already very good player in CM, where we needed 2 players at the start of the season and a LB that is not very proven yet in a position we also need 2 players with Evra leaving.
Add to that wingers that haven't performed for more than a year and at least one CB too few.

I wish they would cancel Anderson's bloody contract. I doubt we could even give him away.

What this means is that PSG are actually worried about FFP and they have to sell someone to buy (Di Maria for example), so Cavani = expensive, club with lot of money = United. 1+1=3

We could solve their problem in a different manner. We could just sign Di Maria. They wouldnt have to worry about FFP (not more than now at least)

WTF? is this? Surely bullshit?

Just another of his crap opinions designed to get retweets and hits. Shite like that was why he was banned in the first place.

Those were players we couldn't conceivably go without though. So far this window we haven't really strengthened our squad (at least not by much) if you take into account the players who have left and who are likely to leave. A major investment in a number of positions is urgently needed if we are to have ambitions to return to the pinnacle of football (which is what we should aspire to, obviously). This is not muppetry or petulant whining about big-name signings, this is about the ambitions and welfare of the club. We finished 7th last year. van Gaal might be a great manager, but he's no miracle worker. And considering the rhetoric that's been thrown around all year about making a serious investment in the summer, not making any major signings would be a monumental disappointment.

We will struggle to get a CL spot if we don't make any more signings, and we certainly won't be contenders for the title.

Of course especially as 15 times man of the match winner Buttner has also left.

Seriously though we were a dogs dinner last year. At times Giggs was our best player. He has obviously retired. I also felt much more confident in old Rio and Vidic playing then at anytime with the current lot.
Evra was a liability at times but still good going forward and chipped in with a few goals.
I don't see Shaw excelling from the off due to his age and pressure and with no back up I'd say yes we are weaker for sure.
Herrera is quality but that is no surprise to anyone that watches La Liga so yes we now finally have a midfielder who could get into another top side unlike the other garbage at our disposal. However I still believe we need another midfielder equal to or even better than him along with maybe two new CBs if we are going to get close to winning the title.

I really hope LvG and Ed have a few surprises (good ones) for us muppets yet....

You know its bullshit yet you post it.

Van Gaal has said openly that he doesn't want to sign anyone else until he's seen the squad for a month. In general LVG seems like a straight talker so I'm inclined to believe him.

Totally agree. While Shaw will probably be better than what Evra was last season, it is very much a like for like replacement.
Herrera is a massive upgrade on our midfield, that is for sure, but its a very weak midfield that always needed two very good players coming in.

Then looking at the fact we have lost Rio and Vidic who have been the heart of United for quite some years, we have totally moved backwards quality wise.
Van Gaal is a better manager than Moyes, so that gives us a boost, but it doesn't excuse the fact that our team isn't up to standard

Rio barely played last year.

Why would LVG green light Cavani and not Vidal?!?!

The headline on the paper le 10 Sport says "Cavani to leave otherwise nothing, the sale of Edinson Cavani is the key to the Parisian transfer window
Part of their articles from a couple of days ago:
UNE SITUATION INCERTAINE

Ovacion rappelle l’intérêt de Manchester United et l’obligation du PSG de vendre un joueur avec une forte valeur marchande s’il veut conclure l’arrivée d’Angel Di Maria. Comme l’a affirme Cavani, « le marché des transferts est imprévisible », mais du côté des dirigeants parisiens, il n’y aurait aucune intention de vendre l’Uruguyen.

An interview with Cavani by Ovacion: reminding of United's interest and the need for PSG to sell a player with a high market value if they want to conclude the arrival of Di Maria. As Cavani says " the transfer market is unpredictable" but from the parisian directors; there is no intention to sell the uruguayan

Expose what , does this guy think the board is a real life episode of Corrie and Woodward is having an affair with someone? Twitter gets worse and worse these days

He's one of the many idiot tweeters who is now giving it the "twitter is obsessed with Vidal" type comments, when he's been peddling them for half the time!

This thread will be very slow for the next few days now that the Vidal dream is likely dead.

Rio barely played last year.
Exactly one of the reasons we were so crap defensively, could not get a settled back four. If fit we were still better with Rio and Vidic.

Actually did we even play the same 11 twice in succession last season?
Moyes was a clown.

I don't think anyone has forgotten about them, it's just that they're not nearly enough. We're weaker now than at the end of last season.

People who say this, how does that work?

We've upgraded left back, and Rio, Vidic and Giggs weren't really regulars. They were either injury prone or on their very very last legs. Herrera is a starter. I'd say it's a fairly equal squad.
Obviously still needs some new arrivals! But we had enough squad players, so a few leaving isn't a thing.

we both know it won't be any slower. It'll just have more "what's going on, there's 21 days left" type posts instead.

Vidic made the most starts apart from Evra in defence.
