UEFA Champions League Quarter Final fixtures (9th - 10th, 16th - 17th April 2019)

If it wasn’t for that utter twat Fernandinho we would have won at the Etihad in January, how has he benched him even with the Injury I would play him because it’s not like they will really need him to beat the likes of Burnley and United (no offence).

Baldy always does weird stuff in the CL. He probably thinks he can piss about with tactics and let his players bail him out. Only problem is that he doesn't have Messi anymore.

Do you think he only does it to try and end up looking clever and be hailed as a technician? I said this before but people rubbished it but the more I think about... just play your best team, it’s not that hard.

I love scousers.

They're through.

If the game at Anfield ended 2-1, maybe Porto would have a shot.

But they didn't get the away goal and they aren't winning against Liverpool 3-0, they're nowhere near good enough to do that.

Or just .. the power to lose to the best team in world football.

Seriously  Seeing some people saying we've bottled the league if we don't win it, despite looking likely to end with 90-95 points, second only to the best team this league has seen in a long time? Ridiculous.

Stuck between 3-1 and 3-2. Was leaning towards City before I saw the teams, but with Fernandinho on the bench, I really can't decide. I hope Spurs win, though.

Can focus on something all you want, but if your midfield is that average & your manager is that pragmatic, you're going to have trouble in one way or another. Says a lot when Sczcesny was arguably their MOTM along with Ronaldo
Chiellini being injured keeps getting overlooked. Wonder how you would do without VVD or Barca without Pique.

City are an absolute monster of a team with talent oozing from every position and then players who would walk in to most sides on the bench. The idea that getting knocked out by them would be bottling is genuinely ludicrous, we're just not as good as them and to go through will need to be at our absolute best and hope they aren't. It's as simple as that, the table shows pretty clearly they're a cut above us as an outfit. Especially without Kane.

Meh, feel as if whilst Fernandinho is a good player his absence is being overstated, they're going to come at us like a train tonight. If we can survive the initial onslaught and gain a foothold then maybe they'll miss him but I have a feeling we'll be trapped in our own half for most of the game.

We'd be 10+ points worse off in the league if we missed VVD in key games this season. Haven't watched enough Barcelona to comment.

Juve missed Costa as well.

Neither would look second best across the entire pitch to Ajax if they were missing a star defender.

Juventus would have been better defensively without Chiellini, but Ajax comprehensively outplayed them. A couple of players being out doesn't cause that.

I think that is exactly what happens. He has Barca roots and believes in total football completely, he's a contrarian. Combine that with his ego and you get some strange decisions. He thought he was clever in getting Jesus to replace Aguero because of work rate and positioning but failed to realise that total football can't turn Jesus into a world class player. LVG was very similar, he tried to be a smart ass a lot instead of keeping things simple.

It looks like it but you never know. The CL can throw up all manner of surprises.

Good luck to Spurs tonight. I'm rooting for ya ;)

nah, it can do quite easily, key players get missed - other players can lose confidence even without the top top guys playing

or are you trying to ignore Kane being out, :D

You bring up a fantastic point r.e Aguero as well, I remember praying that they had a falling out so Aguero could piss off but Pep surprisingly nipped that in the bud and realised what he would be losing. We’ll see how smart baldy is tonight anyway.

A top side doesn't allow a couple of players to throw them entirely off their game, Juventus were totally outdone.

I expect us to miss something with Kane being out and it will have a big impact, but I'll be massively disappointed if the whole team goes in to its shell because of that.

Cheers mate!

Honestly I'd love for Porto to chuck a spanner in the works, but it just won't happen. Liverpool are too good a side to throw away that kind of lead, maybe it won't be as easy as @Oga on top. expects and maybe Porto can wobble them, but they will still go through.

I’m just happy to be watching City without needing them to win and stay ahead of the Scousers.
Hope they get beat tonight, but no injuries ;)

Nou camp. But liverpool didn't finish the job yet..
Thanks.

I think we had a better chance yesterday than porto do of scoring 3 and not conceding. Tie in pools hand vs barca with second leg at home.

It’s as close to a full strength City I could’ve hoped for apart from Fernandinho. Don’t care whet they do tonight, maybe going through is even better. They just need to not win Sunday. Hell I’d probably sign to go out tonight if it means they drop points on the weekend ffs.

I don’t necessarily think we’ll go and give them another 5-0 slapping but I just don’t see us getting that troubled. I better not have jinxed it now :p

Seriously.

Come now, we all know that an average childs football team has more bottle than a Tottenham team. It's pretty easy to predict when they fall to pieces. Just like it was piss simple to predict the other day that Tottenham would bottle it against Liverpool. They're a good team Tottenham, but when the chips are down and shit really matters they fall apart. My guess is they'll keep the score to 0-0 then when the pressure is really on late in the game they'll stumble and feck up losing the tie. They always fall apart when it looks like they're on the cusp of doing something substantial.

Tbh mate if Spurs end up going out tonight I don’t see them recovering in time mentally and physically to do anything Saturday lunchtime.

Why do coaches not rate Sane? Both Pep and Löw seem to prefer others quite often, but everytime I see either City or Germany,Sane is a fecking menace.

Is he a cnut or something?

 So harsh but laced with a big dose of truth. Tonight is the night for them to change that tag, losing is fine to a certain degree but just don’t lose in first 20 minutes which many I’m sure see them doing.

Why the feck are they the early kickoff if they both play tonight? Weird.

City are a lot better than Real and Juve. Ajax are no mugs but City will have too much for them.
I think Ajax play at a pace city can't cope with. Spurs are better equipped to deal with ajax than City imho
