It's a good match, have to give credit to Real's deadly finishing, but even more credit to our never-say-die attitude. The players have been chasing for the whole game, until the last second. At least, we beat Real in Old Trafford.

O'Shea is really a great player, easily the best out of the backline, but I think he probably needs to settle and claim a permanent place first, no matter it's LB or RB or even CB. That'll help him develop better.

We did, but don't deny that Real had the cushion, the upper hand, and had we scored they always looked capable of scoring again if necessary. That's what upsets me. We gave so much, looked so threatening but looked so vulnerable at the same time.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Spot on

Great game, their extra class triumphed over your effort and endeavour...

Why wasn't Keane playing?

;)

roll your eyes all u want giggzy..there was no reason to keep becks out of the first half...saf is obviously letting personal issues interfere with the team.

Don't agree re SAF. Thought he picked the right starting 11. More power to SAF, Carlos and Phelan, I say.

Rio isn't up to it yet, but the whole back line should learn from the two legs.

I think SAF will review these two games very critically. Perhaps it's last orders for Keane, Barthez and Giggs ?

But I do think it'll be everything and the kitchen sink for the rest of the PL season. Should be a fantastic finish.

Luckily I've got Lancashire and their first Championship win for over 50 years to look forward to this summer.

I can still read her posts on football related issues, they provide some entertainment at times.

Can't agree there Jade. Every time Beckham has played against Carlos, he has come off worse. And every time Beckham has been dropped, he has come back better.

If he'd played Becks from the start and Carlos had again got the better of him, then Fergie would be criticised for taking the risk in the first place.

If there were personal issues, then Becks wouldn't have started against Blackburn - Ole had a good game against Arsenal so Fergie would have been justified in playing him on Saturday, but he didn't, he played Becks.

I question Fergie's tactics in some games, but not tonight.

wow...touchy!

(I dont believe ignore works on anything but pm's...but ill play along...)

ignore is a two way street,so ahmed and giggzy, consider yourselves ignored! :p

and i was so hoping for some enlightenment on the issue....*sigh*

You had your enlightenment above.

Beckham came on and did a job tonight but that doesn't mean he should have started.

Solskjaer has played Beckham onto the bench these last few games.

I suppose there might be some argument for Beckham starting instead of Veron tho.

and thank u as well rod

atleast the ladies of the forum have some manners. :D

I've read, heard and watched many comments tonight, but as a fan I can say that I'm pleased with the team as a whole. We won the match tonight and continued to try to win the tie after a the disaster of the first goal.

Maybe Barthez was at fault for the first goal, and the headlines will be difficult for him to digest tomorrow, but he isn't all of a sudden an awful goalkeeper. Ruud once again showed that he is one of the greatest strikers in the world, and John O'Shea is playing with grace down the left flank: I think he is in contention for our player of the season.

We've scored four goals tonight and it bodes well for the rest of the Premiershiop campaign.

Real are the better side, but there's no disgrace in that.

Barthez has kept us in a lot of games this season. I don't know if it's possible to find another Schmeichel. I know he was at fault for the first goal - but so were the outfield players for letting Ronaldo get that far.

I can't in all honesty say we scored four goals tonight - there are four on the scoresheet, but one, possibly two, ogs takes the shine off a tad.

I do think we played well - but it's two years now since we implemented a lone striker system and two years since we won owt.

Jens, it's the only pleasure the saddos get.

Great match...

Although I side with those that say SAF screwed up by not having Beckham in from the start.

It didn't need to be such a big deal. Beck's contract doesn't come up for another couple of years and Fergie got played at his own mind f*cking games that he used to be so good at.

Maybe it is time for Fergie to go...he doesn't seem to have the team's best interest at heart anymore. :(
