Louis van Gaal has told BBC Sport he wants to become the new manager of Manchester United.
"I would love the job," said the Netherlands boss, speaking at the start of a three-day Dutch World Cup training camp. "I hope that I shall be the one."
The 62-year-old has been the overwhelming favourite for the role since the dismissal of David Moyes just over a fortnight ago.
It is anticipated United will confirm the appointment early next week.

Ay, I'll leave it there. Usage of certain words across different countries, regions and age demographics would probably make for a good discussion in the general, to be honest.
It kind of sounds as if he isn't sure. I don't doubt we've held talks and have an agreement in place but he doesn't seem 100% convinced. Unless he's just saying that as he wants to stick to the official time table.

I think it's this. The Club seemingly don't want to announce it until after the final game. Ogden is reporting today that it'll be announced next week. Talksport are tonight reporting that too (and that Giggs will be on the coaching staff). I'd be very surprised if it isn't announced early next week.

Maybe I'm being ultra pessimistic but I wouldn't be surprised if we really are waiting to see what happens with Guardiola. It just seems strange when there's no external influence at all for us to delay the announcement so long. It seems completely arbitrary and other than for arbitrary's sake there has to be a reason for it. Announcing it now would surely be better from the Dutch FA's point of view than next Wednesday, 3 days before their first world cup warm-up friendly. I also don't buy the 'out of respect for Giggs' thing either as he was only ever appointed for 4 games.

This has been a done deal for ages. It's pretty obvious were just waiting until the season is over.
Given how we appointed Moyes while he was still Everton manager it seems most unlikely we're holding back out of respect for our interim boss.
I don't see why a few days changes anything.
