United linked with van Gaal in the meeja

Anyway who is Giovanni even ? He clearly was't good enough for Barcelona. Later graced Olympiakos, Al-Hilal and Mogi Mirim amongst other illustrious clubs of the game.

What do you mean here in Europe? I live in England mate. Unfortunately Hitler was the best example I could think of for someone that is a nutjob authoritarioan, who is extremely arrogant etc. I did say 'he's not the type to murder millions of people', which goes without saying, but more his personality and the way he deals with people etc. As I pointed out, I'm not the first to make this comparison.

Fair enough. A more prudent approach wouldn't hurt would it?

Just give @pocco the benefit of the doubt. He probably just had worded it wrong or doesn't really know what an animal Hitler really is and what he had done. There are many authoritarian figures that much better than Hitler that you could of compared with etc.

FFS. This what Van Gaal's delayed appointment has reduced this thread to.
He's dug himself into a hole really. Comparing someone to Hitler is stupid but when challenged to then clarify that you believe they have same personality and attitude is absolutely mental.

He's just saying that Van Gaal has the same attitude as the greatest mass murderer in history, not that he's actually a mass murderer. Jeez you guys!

I meant attitudes as in the way he acts. He said that I claimed they 'share the same attitudes', which basically implies they share the same beliefs. He was twisting my words.

I think you mean "mannerisms" not attitude. 2 completely different things.

Rio was asked by the BBC would he look forward to working with Van Gaal and his reply was far from enthusiatic.

Why? I'm not saying he's the type to slaughter millions of people. But he does have the same type of personality and attitude. He's really dislikeable.
Complete rubbish! How can you even say he has the same type of personality and attitude as Hitler. That's sick. Just because he doesn't take shit?

To be fair, Rio hasn't been enthusiastic about anything bar singing in his car and seeing Adnan wearing a Rio 5 Ferdy cap this season.

Am I? I'm perfectly fine. Just because I think the guys a cnut whilst he's suddenly the hottest manager around on here, doesn't really bother me. I'm cool sharing a different opinion.

So you don't like him, therefore he's like or is Hitler? C'mon man. Try and be reasonable about this and stop thinking comparing him to Hitler is in anyway appropriate in any context outside of being a very ill-judged joke. You're on dodgy ground here, so I'd recommend leaving the thread for a bit and for everyone else I think we should try and turn our attention away from Adolf Hitler and back onto LVG.

Maybe some do not get his personality right. Yes, he wants discipline - but he ain't that big an authorian. It is not that he likes people the most that are just "Yes-Sayers" - if you look at what players he likes and that he e.g. promoted a Mourinho he loves the intelligent persons around him most.

Maybe you should read some interviews with Truus van Gaal who believes that her husband is often too naive and believes too much in the good in persons.

His personality has a lot of different sides. Not only his belief in himself and his doings. You might need to have that to have success. And in the relationship with players who do not match his system or do not as they should he just uses the direct way - you can think about it like you want but I think that is a lot fairer than others. Players no their position and do not have to guess. Saves you a lot from longtime trouble...

can't we do stalin for a bit whilst we're here?

Hitler comparisons are made all the time on here. His name is always thrown around without a second thought, especially when it's about people outside the club or the way RAWK is ran etc. Just because it's about Van Gaal there's uproar. I posted newspaper articles and published opinions that made the same comparison.

I hope so!

I made comparisions between VG and Mussolini a few pages back. I wasn't referring to their political ideas, humanity or character but merely on their way of delivering a speech. For all I know even if that speech was made up by Gandhi or Martin Luther King in that way, I would still say the same thing.

I still think he deliver speeches more like Mussolini then Hitler. Hitler was more aggressive then Mussolini in his speeches (close to histerical) Mussolini delivered his speeches with an almost comical overconfidence and with that small pauses between one sentence and another to allow his words to sink in.

Just because people were published saying idiotic things doesn't make it any more right, or acceptable to be espousing on here.

Giggs on the manager being announced in the next couple of weeks:

"I think it has been a difficult season for us, and when the management situation gets sorted out then we can move on and that will probably be in the next couple of weeks. I am sure there will be an announcement soon and maybe I can comment on it then."

EDIT: You lot, stop it.

Are you talking about the interview on Football Focus just now? You've interpreted it completely different to me

No, but I think people are trying to make a big deal because I'm talking ill of their new saviour. When people throw Hitlers name around any other time on here nobody bats an eyelid. He's an extremely authoritarion style manager that shares some other traits with Hitler. Not all, as I pointed out, but some. If anyone can give me a better, more politically correct example then I'll go with that instead.

Haha! I can understand the way the speech was delivered is reminiscent of a fascist leader. Doesn't mean we can compare character. Apart from that, yea you're entitled to whatever you wanna say.

So what this seems to boil down to is Van Gaal gave a speech on a balcony, now he's being compared to anyone who has also given a speech on a balcony or podium.

Imagine if Sir Alex gave his final speech from the roof of Old Trafford.

Have you seen the videos of Van Gaal givin his speeches to his players? He loses his shit big time. At least I think you get what I meant with my comparison.

I know which is basically what the content of my post was. Calling someone Hitler-esque or whatever is relatively common if a bit misguided; to then clarify that you think the person has the same personality and attitudes of Hitler is insane. There is no way to separate the attitude and personality of Hitler to the many unforgivable crimes he was responsible for. Clearly one influenced the other. Saying someone has the same personality as Hitler is pretty much unacceptable.

That was what he meant to say. Far from Enthusiastic.

Enthusiastic
.................................................Not Enthusiastic

Well, I think I'm going to sit you out of this thread for a bit. I said this was inappropriate and you continued.

That's just wrong, in my opinion. Hitler had an attitude and a strong belief in what he was trying to carry out. Van Gaal is the same, but in a footballing context. The comparison ends there and I made that perfectly clear.

"We are not just the champions of Manchester. But also of Liverpool. And Birmingham. And London. And hopefully......EUROPE."

That's the thing.

And to be fair they may share similarities because deep down they share the same goal ie to incite the audience in front of them. VG had just won the league and wanted to incite the fans to show their happiness. Mussolini had just declared war to the allies and wanted the Italians to show as much as enthusiasm as possible (many Italians weren't keen to war back then especially since they were siding with the Germans ie WW1 former enemy). Speeches like that are mechanized and practized to the least detail (For example Mussolini used to copy Maciste a popular film figure in Italy at that time inspired by Hercules) which surely doesn't reflect a person's true colours at all.

So did Giovanni leave the squad on holiday or when still getting paid to play?
