I can imagine it being similar to his relationship with SAF as well.
Jose was always respectful after his first meeting with Fergie - I reckon we will see something similar. Anyone remember what it was like at the 2010 CL final?
Agreed. I doubt Brenton and MouMou are still top pals now Liverpool are competing for things.Yeah, it's one thing being friendly when your teams meet for a one-off match (even if that match is the Champions League final), another entirely when you're direct rivals in the same league over a season or more. There'll be a lot of mutual respect, but I suspect a healthy dose of friction as well.
Apparently the two are quite pally.
Is this about LvG and Mourinho? If so, I don't think they'll be as pally when the two are going toe to toe for the league. It's one thing being mates when you see each other once in a few years, but when you see each other talking about the title, your players etc. week in week out, your loyalties are somewhat altered.Exactly. Some very limited knowledge being displayed by some here.
You're getting ahead of yourself...So the first time we appoint someone without experience at this level and with no formal interview process and it's a bit of a mess. To try to make sure we don't stuff it up again we are ultra cautious, only this time we lose a world class manager because he's sick us fannying about. Both are examples of incompetence. Why o why can't we just have a happy medium. It's called competence. And I for one am starting to get really worried now.
Not the "he's putting his house up for sale/rent" muppetry.
Remember when it was falsely reported last year that Ronaldo was selling his house? Let's not turn this into another muppet saga.
What's next? Checking flights from Amsterdam to Manchester?
I thought he was rather average-ish TBF. Ah though you might be right, I saw him maybe 5-10 times max.
My point kinda was that Giovanni may not be qualified enough to pass such sweeping judgement on Van Gaal. The man is a reputed taskmaster granted isn't afraid to axe the slackers granted. And he's certainly not without fault but this article paints him as a petty, conniving character when in fact a majority of his ex-players and coaches have some kind words for him. Guess I'm feeling annoyed because he's odds on to be our next manager and we have to stand behind him now.![]()
Hmm I'm not sure I like referencing a man who ordered his troops to kill babies by smashing their heads off trees
Can we keep the chat to football please
Apparently the two are quite pally.
Riquelme said he was glad he was honest that he said that rather than put him on the bench though. I think he literally meant you are not my player rather than not his kind of player.Van Gaal gives the impression that he doesn't like certain types of players. Didn't he tell Riquelme that he "wasn't my player" when he started his second stint at Barca?
I can't see anyone he would dislike in our squad, in terms of work rate, though. We have a few hardworking players whose weaknesses are their technical ability.
SourceManchester United assure next manager Louis van Gaal that Fergie will not interfere
Louis van Gaal will become Manchester United boss after being assured Sir Alex Ferguson will not play a major role in the club’s future, writes Steve Bates in the Sunday People.
Holland coach Van Gaal is expected to be named this week as successor to sacked David Moyes – but raised his concerns over Ferguson’s influence.
That issue and the fate of Ryan Giggs and other fellow influential Class of 92 stars Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes is thought to have been holding up his appointment.
But the Dutchman, 62, is believed to have had his fears calmed by the Old Trafford giants' executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
Van Gaal was worried that Fergie’s powerful standing may impact on his plans to take United forward after the failure of Moyes, who was recommended by the Scot.
But with Moyes gone, Woodward and the Glazer family, who own United, are keen to usher in a new era.

It would be brilliant if United announced Van Gaal as the manager at six o'clock this evening and maybe a high profile signing as well just to take some of the attention away from the winners
The Ogmeister is on Sunday Supplement. Let's see if the oracle has any news.
What does it matter? Two or three days after the season finishes is a fine time to announce it
Drama Queens.
I'm still worried. I desperately hope I'm wrong. but I'm with Plugsy. I don't understand the delay or any real reason for it.
They are waiting until Man City win the league to announce it - to show that everyone cares more about who Manchester United's next manager is than City winning the league. You know it's true![]()
They are just going to wave a Dutch flag at anything for the time being to fill the papers.
BOOM!Tancredi has spoken. 11AM tomorrow. LVG will meet to sign the contract.
