Depends on your point of reference. Compared to say, Namibia or Honduras, the US doesn't look too bad. Don't start looking at *any* other western nation, though...

Also the figure is slightly distorted by the US having most of the richest people on the planet. But the reality is that wether Bezos is worth 50B or 200B, it makes little difference to anyone else.

Attacks on Dubya generally don’t resonate outside the far left of in the US. Best to instead focus on issues that tangibly matter like Beto and Bernie do. That sort of approach resonates with people in search of progress.

It doesn't make sense to compare the the richest country in the world with the poorest ones though. You have to compare the US with the other relatively rich countries for any sort of viable comparison (West Europe, Canada, Japan,etc).

They've totally dried up post-2016 when HRC used Bush-era GOP leaders and the media celebrated the slightest equivocation from the Bush family to push the message that Trump was an abberation from "normal Republicans" as represented by Bush.
The result is as depressing as it was predictable.

I still don't understand why Dems just can't unite behind Sanders. If it is a monumental election, then surely Kamala Harris, Booker and every other politician with ambition can hold their dicks for a while and put on an united front and nominate a candidate who has the best chance of attracting independents. Desperate time calls for desperate measures. Instead of primary, go on a unity tour, if voter restrictions are placed, spend the time between now and 2020, spend money on getting the required voter id's etc etc. feck sake
Its still an establishment vs progressive issue within the Dem party. There are a good number of Dems within the party hierarchy who think going progressive will be too risky for down ballot congressional candidates.

True...although in fairness to the cause, the Dem party hasn't done a particularly effective job of selling progressive policies to the public over the past couple of years. On single payer healthcare for instance, Perez has been tap dancing around it by trying to pretend the party can accommodate many views and single payer is one of them. Instead, he should've simply said "we support single payer". But he was scared because he thought the GOP would use that to fear monger their way to retaining the house next month. The Dems will at some point need to shift from "we don't want to give the Republicans ammunition to use against us" to "we have a grand bargain for Americans which includes wages people can live on, universal healthcare, free state level tuition etc".

Hong Kong is such an individually unique situation and history I don't think you can really compare it to anything else. The other issues when looking at the US inequality is not just the raw numbers but the trend that is still ongoing.
Always worth saying that during the last UK election Obama staffers went to work for the Conservative Party and Obama phoned Conservative Leader May a few hours before the exit polling to congratulating her on beating the labour party(Which turned out to be wrong).
It’s not a good look if you have to compare the US to a third world country to make your point.
