Weekend Fixtures 20/21 November

Top 5 is incorrect but he's definitely top 10 atleast.

I honestly can't think of anymore strikers better than him than the ones you mentioned.

Ibrahimovic, Pato, Benzema, RvP, Higuain, Forlan would all stick their hand up I'm sure.

Messi and Ronaldo also play centrally often. So too Robinho.

City fans responding to their own criticism? Ironically singing pro Mancini chants. Wasn't it last week "you don't know what you're doing" "boooooooooooooooo" etc etc

Those 3 maybe but Benzema? Not a chance. He plays 10 mins a game and has done absolutely nothing since leaving Lyon.

RvP again is a great player but forever injured so it's unfair to put him above Tevez. Higuain is a decent finisher but I honestly don't think he offers as much as Tevez. Tevez would do an equally good job if he was at Madrid imo. And well Messi and Ronaldo do play centrally but their really not classed as strikers and Robinho has been no where as good as Tevez in forever.

Tevez might not be top 5 but he most definitely is top 10 in the world. And I would take him over Ibra purely because he performs on the big stage and Ibra just never does that.

Attitude, connection with team mates?

It's confusing how much running around aimlessly on the pitch can show for all these things.

For one, Berbatov has never complained during his time with us. Despite being not picked for our bigger games, he's got on with his game and tried to break into the team. His attitude is brilliant, his demeanour on the pitch might not reflect that, but he obviously cares about the team and his game. Also, all the players love Berbatov. Look back at the Community Shield when he scored that lob, the whole of the team went to congratulate him.

Tevez, on the other hand was a moaning git. Despite getting 30+ appearances in the second season with us, he still complained about lack of game time. He often spoke publicly about that and getting a new contract. Don't forget that ridiculous celebration with his ears when he scored against City. Great attitude, right?

They both have different styles of play. But, do no get confused between attitude and running around chasing after the ball. Common mistake.

First of all I'm OBVIOUSLY talking about his attitud on the pitch, he works much harder than Berbatov, I don't care if he complained too much, on the pitch he always showed what a great and fantastic player he is.

Also, all the players love Tevez too just look how he goes and says hi to all of them after the derbies, what kind of argument is that? Are we talking about who is the best player or who is the best friend?

And if you think all the Tevez does is "running around cashing after the ball" I conclude you have never watched him play. Simple as that.

You don't care what shit he talked about our manager? He was disrespectful and that's all there is to it. No matter what gripes he had, he shouldn't have spoken so publicly about it, and about the manager at that. Also, yes he talks to a few players but there's also a few players who don't give a feck about him. Rafael tangled with him the other week, that whole thing with Neville and didn't Rio say something about him at one point? Something about his lack of effort in training I think.

Top 10 for me
1) Eto`o
2) Villa
3) Drogba
4) Rooney
5) Ibrahimovic
6) Torres
7) Higuain
8) Tevez
9) Dzeko
10) Forlan

sorry but Rooney shouldn't be anywhere in the top lists, his form is fecking rubbish ever since he got injured against bayern.

RvP is a considerably better player when not injured. Higuain is a proper striker with a far superior record at international level.

Dzeko is another. Arguably Suarez and Fabiano, although I'd rather Tevez to the latter two myself.

Just because people don't classify Messi or Ronaldo as strikers doesn't mean they aren't.

Benzema is more talented but admittedly isn't proving it yet. I'd had him to the long list of young strikers more talented than Tevez and will undoubtedly surpass him in the coming years. Muller is another, and we have a couple here at OT too.

That applies for me that I'm clearly defending Tevez but for the guys attacking Tevez becuase they clearly have a "an equally irrational dislike for competing brands or items", so what is the point of that post?

When, at United did he ever show what a great and fantastic player he was? Nonsense! He showed he was a grafter who could work at a team like us but he never once showed world class potential.

You contradict yourself there. What does saying hi to a former team-mate have to do with anything? All players do it if you play their former club. When every player on the pitch comes to congratulate you on a goal (except VdS) then it shows "connection" with team-mates, which is what you said Berbatov doesn't have.

Of course Tevez just does't run around and chase the ball only. That gives him a lot of respect as a player, too much infact. His attitude on the pitch shouldn't be reflected as who chases the ball most it should be who contributes to the game most with their designated role.
Fair enough Berbatov has had poor spells, maybe more poor than good, but does that mean we should get on his back?

When a player is going through a rough patch, as a supporter you should route for your player and get behind them. It's not as if Berbatov has slated the club, the manager, the players of anyone. All he's ever done is talked about Manchester United in very high regard. Is that not enough to earn respect.

Oh sorry, I forgot he doesn't chase every loose ball around the pitch.

Right now, I'm talking about football, what the players do on the pitch, in this moment, in this argument I don't care about what he say to the media.

And don't you think a lot of our players would have something negative to say about Berbatov if he leaves to another club in the same way Tevez did? I'm going to ask again, are we talking about who is the best player or who is the best friend?

If you really think that is true, I just can't keep discussing with you because you just seem to have no memory at all.

Form is temporary, Class permanent.

Though many people on here don't even consider Rooney world class so I can sort of understand that Tevez is not considered that himself.
RvP is a considerably better player when not injured. Higuain is a proper striker with a far superior record at international level.

Yeah Benzema might surpass him at some point in the future, as might the likes of Chicharito, Muller, Suarez and Aguero but until they do Tevez remains a better player.

I love Dzeko but he's yet to prove himself outside the Bundesliga and if and when he does that I'll put him above Tevez.

Tevez has proven himself time and again in various leagues. For Boca, Corinthians, West Ham ( single handedly saving them from relegation) , United (first season definitely) and now City where he's scored at a super rate. I can understand United fans not liking him but what more does he need to do before he's considered World Class and good enough?

But again half the people on here don't even think Rooney is world class so what chance does Tevez stand.

but... I never said something negative about Berbatov. I'm just saying Tevez is a better player.

Easy way to get out of responding to the rest of my post I guess?

If Tevez showed he was a world beater like you suggest, he'd be still here now. The fact is, he was a good player who had a promising first season and a poor second season. The 30m price tag was too heavy to pay for him. When Ronaldo joined Madrid, that was reconsidered and by then it was too late as City had already offered him monster wages.

Mancini has obviously taken some of the criticism on board. If only other managers would do similar when the whole world is calling for the obvious changes needed.

Firstly, he's gone for Jo playing from the left. So when Tevez and Silva go wandering for the ball and start to build an attack, Jo can just come in from the left and occupy the CBs and simply just provide an extra body in the box. This is essential because such a simple change has changed the whole way they attack, the lack of creativity from the midfield 3 is negated by Tevez and Silva having free roles and the lack of out and out striker caused by that is negated because Jo is moving inside deliberately. It's made them so much more fluid.

Secondly, they are just playing with more positional freedom. On one break, Toure, Barry, Kolarov and Zabaleta were all bombing forward to support the attack. This team is a different animal from the one in recent weeks. Of course it helps being 1, 2 or 3 up but the different ethos is obvious.

The rest of your post doesn't make any sense at all, you are just talking about how I should be supportive with Berbatov and a load of crap I never talked about.

I came in here to check the latest score, but it seems this thread is now Tevez discussion #2747577229295857201047

By the way, I think now in City he's showing he's 30m price tag was just enough for him.

From what he showed with us it was too big.

City can afford to gamble with that money, we couldn't. There's no confirmation he would of played as well with us than he is at City.

You can say the same with the Berbatov of Tottenham

Tevez just misses one-on-one

edit: He just scored again to make amends. :(
