Weekend Football: 1-3/12/2012

 @ the SMB'S

Pleased to see Hughton doing well along with the ex Leeds lads.

O'neill will get the sack before long.

I love Chris Hughton. How often do you see a really good manager come across like a really good bloke also?

Just seen the penalty City got bloody hell thats incredibly soft.

I do love the match tracker at the Guardian, the lastest gem this time from the pre-game banter for the Newcastle-Wigan game.

Alan Pardew says"We're not used to losing at this football club, and we don't like it."

Well if they're not used to it now, they never will be. He also says it's a very important game.

Newcastle penalty and red card to the Wigan player.

Oh my.
Whats this about Newcastles injuries? It's just Ben Arfa and Cabaye out who'd actually start.
What's their first choice back four? They have some injuries there (Taylors and Perch), but Coloccini is back and he's their main man I suppose.

What is it with Newcastle getting shit penalties? Shit decision.

Very harsh. Don't think that Cisse was clear through on goal as they were level and Cisse didn't have control of the ball. Yellow should be completely fair in this situation.

Ba, 1-0.

Once again, a Premier League game ruined by the current climate of punishing defenders from defending and giving strikers all the keys.. This isn't bloody Serie A or la Liga..

2-0, Ba again.

Game over. I think it's time to watch Boardwalk Empire.

That's about as good back 4 as you get from them. Williamson has been a regular. Santon is better than Perch and Anita was bought to start games and he's a versatile player.
I don't think either Taylor should be starting. Steven is a local lad though and he's an important member of their team but Pardew is very keen on Williamson. Taylor always seems to be injured and is more card prone.

I'm sure there are two Kone brothers. The excellent footballer Arouna who plays for Ivory Coast and his identical but dim-witted twin Ian who seems to be getting more game time at Wigan.

Arouna was brilliant the first two months. This doesn't surprise me. Remember him playing for PSV in Europe and I remember him from Spain. He's always been an inconsistent player capable of turning a game around.

Is Obertan out of favour? Not starting any league match so far this season.

Alright. All I know is Ryan Taylor was a brilliant FF player last season, but everyone said he's shit. I didn't watch them much.

Caldwell should have been off. Worthy of a second yellow, but you've also got to feel for the guy with that melon head throwing his balance off

Sounded like Tyler said Bart Simpson then... after a few seconds I figured out Ba passed to Simpson.

He's great at set pieces. Not many better right footers in the league. Oddly enough his face sort of describes what kind of player he is.

Marveaux has made up for Ben Arfa's and Cabaye's absence tonight. Completely bossed the midfield with that one man being missing from the Wigan side.

I wish Marveaux was greedier in that sparse midfield. Looked Maradona/Gazza-esque with his runs past players.

Steven Taylor is from London :p
