Welbeck

Welbeck always seems to suffer injuries when he's doing well. Last year at Sunderland he started scoring for fun and then got injured.

That hamstring will take atleast 4-6 weeks. Then after that there is no guarentee he'll return to form immediately.

Very unlucky lad. Perhaps the Louis Saha comparison has more to it than just the playing style.

I think that was on his mind.Too bad for him

if he is out for 4 weeks then i will be pleased. 2 weeks off because of that bullshit international matches and he will be unavailable for us for just 2 weeks. i hope......

Think the injuries are more down to his growth than being a sicknote. Hopefully he wont be out for too long, Rio had the same injury against WBA and came back in two weeks. And Welbeck similarly came back from the same injury before his diagnosis..

he is a fecking beast of a boy, wait till he grows up a bit more.....he will be unplayable

Yep, he's still growing into his body. Reminds me a bit of Steven Gerrard who also had the same thing and suffered injuries time after time when he was young. He did get over it, though.

Happy with his performance. It was like Spurs - but the last 30 minutes of Spurs, rather than the first 60.

SAF saying Danny's done his hamstring and he was feeling it before he actually pulled up. Didn't say how long he is out for.

Hernandez was warming up. Welbeck was feeling it before the run
He shouldnt have made that.
Poor kid :(
Hope it isnt a bad tear

Shame for him. He probably would have got a hat-trick if he stayed on.

The only negative thing that came from the game was his injury. Feel sorry for him.

Yeah looked really lively before that. Hopefully he can get fit sooner rather than later and keep up the good work.

His problem is more like that of Giggs in his younger days IMO. Me thinks he should ask Giggs for advice on how to over come it.

Felt so gutted for this lad, he was looking so lively and a great little finish on a ball that could have been messed up, he's got so much to his game and trust me he has some fantastic skill, little magic in his game that'll be exposed with age.

He's amazing basically.

It was stupid by Welbeck to force it. He'll learn though.

His hamstrings are a bit dodgy aren't they?

He's had a strain or two before, but most of his injuries have been knee related. Chances are it's all to do with his body still developing.

From BBC

Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck has been ruled out for four to five weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in the 8-2 win over Arsenal.

Welbeck, who has been in fine form this season, earlier opened the scoring, his second of the new campaign, before pulling up injured in the 35th minute.

His injury means he will now miss England's Under-21 games against Azerbaijan and Israel in September.

"It is a loss for us and for England," boss Sir Alex Ferguson told BBC Sport.

Welbeck joins Rafael da Silva (shoulder), Rio Ferdinand (hamstring) and Nemanja Vidic (calf) on the sidelines for United.

"Danny complained of a tight hamstring before he actually pulled it and we couldn't get [Javier] Hernandez on quick enough," said Ferguson, following the rout at Old Trafford.

"It is a shame for Danny but it [his absence] will be around four to five weeks."

Judging from the last four games I actually prefer him to Hernandez. I know it's a big/outlandish statement but he knits the play better and we've looked much more fluent and dangerous going forward.

That's a bit harsh on Hernández; it's not like we stopped creating chances after he came on; we scored six with him on the pitch...

Last season Hernández scored 20 goals without ever playing in front of such an energetic midfield, with Young, Cleverley, Anderson. He'll enjoy the type of football we're playing right now.

I currently feel the same way as his link up play and ability to bring others into the game is far ahead of Hernandez' although a few goals in the next couple of games might remind us all just how valuable Javier is to the side.

That said the system we currently play is very different to the one we did last season and as such Javier has a little bit of adapting to do to fit in as well as Welbeck has so far.

I'm not being harsh. Just my opinion on how it's gone over the last few games. Anyway, just goes to show our strength in depth when it's difficult to choose between our top two scorers from last year and Welbeck.

I know where you're coming from, Welbeck in many respects acts as good middle ground between Berbatov and Hernandez.

Still think Hernandez is probably in our best 11, but Welbeck's all round game is very, very good indeed.

It's tough really.

i don't believe fergei actually said this!

anyway welbeck out for a month, i'll take that. 2 weeks because of the international games meaning he will probably miss 4 or 5 matches for us at the very most.

I do too, but while Chicharito may never have the same level of creativity and ability in the build-up he's got a whole lot more to show than he has so far, I think. They've both got so much room to develop it's difficult to make any definitive statements - really all we can do is just sit back and watch them grow, simultaneously. Even today Chicharito's involvement in some of the build-up was a level above what we saw from him last year, IMO.

Yeah, agreed. I thought Hernandez looked good today. Much improved on his rusty cameo on Monday. Seems to be a bit stronger and harder to knock off the ball than he was last season. He'll be disappointed he didn't get on the scoresheet, mind you.
