West Bromwich Albion vs. Manchester United

We started really well and played some wonderful football. Second half we got the job done. You have to be able to do both to win a league, so all in all a great start to the season.

Game should have been over in the first half. Nani had a mare out there. Missing easy chances like that makes games like this unnecessary tough.

The way we started the game I thought it was going to be easy. But like most times we made it hard on ourselves.

Cracking result, just about deserved to win it overall, controlled them first half, but they got closer and put more pressure on us in the second where Anderson and Cleverley were rather quiet. They're proving a tough team away West Brom, I miss the days of them playing nice football where we could go there and roll them over.

It was great to see youth given a chance, but Welbeck was disappointing, he just didn't seem to do enough in the final third where it matters, but hes shown glimpses that he has great skill so hopefully hes given more chances to prove it, Fergusons shown great faith in him starting ahead of Berba.

Young was frustrating besides the goal, he did get plenty of the ball but there was plenty of times where his final ball really let him down, like the old Nani who got slated for that.

Vidic and Rio both going off is a concern, it's a bit worrying if they're both out the next game where we have 2 youngsters in defence ahead of a nervous De Gea

Also, the ref was a wanker, hope we never get him for a while

Considering the setbacks - The poor goal conceded, injuries to Vidic and Rio, that quite inexperienced side pulled off what turned out to be a cracking win. Top stuff...

Blistering start. For the first half an hour we absolutely played West Brom off the park. The passing and movement was brilliant and Nani should've had a brace. The game by rights should've been over before West Brom even scored.

But they did score and I dunno it seemed to knock us in the same way the goals last Sunday did although we never quite recovered our poise in the same manner as we did against City.

Anderson and Cleverley were very good, although I thought the latter could've done more defensively. Last week Cleverley was all over Toure when we didn't have the ball but this week he didn't give Mulumbu and co. the same treatment. I liked that Young kept trying too. He wasn't that great throughout the game but he didn't let himself get down, kept trying to get balls in, kept trying to beat his man and in the end it happened for him. Rooney too looked as if he's ready to return to the goalscoring of 09/10 which is very promising when Chico comes back its gonna be sexy. :P

The biggest negatives for me were De Gea, Vida and Ferdy. Vida and Ferdy were just as bad as they were last week and, to some extent, their injuries forced changes I would've advocated. Both looked off the pace (maybe they were playing injured) but Rio's legs looked shot when he was trying to chase the big lad. Vida also looked incredibly uncomfortable with the ball at his feet and actually ran into a few blind alleys. It wasn't great from either of them.

De Gea...needs time. Needs to loosen up and needs to just trust himself.

Excellent 3 points, was a shame about Rio but I think Jones will slot in perfectly.

Decent performance in patches but a great three points given we were away, it's the first game and West Brom played well.
