West Ham at the London Stadium | Nearly £450k of taxpayers money used to try and find a sponsor

...didn't he mount the bid for the Olympics?

No, we got the Olympics in 2005. The stadium plans were already in place and construction started 18 days after he became mayor.

Shambles from day one really. They should have planned it to be a football stadium ultimately as that is the only sport that would fill such a large stadium on a regular basis. They could have got West Ham, Spurs and anyone else to bid to use it after the games and actually recouped some of the cost.

West Ham were interested from the start.

Instead we have the current shambles..

The money on a new sponsor is clearly part of the contract. The entire deal should be investigated.

For me the whole charade is absurd. The fact that Boris’ name keeps appearing is a huge red flag as well... when are peeps gonna figure this dude and his ways out?

Its akin to Ferrari getting the Italian govt. to build their cars for them and lease them back for nowt! Am I way off on that?

The only financial relationship between any company and local govt authorities is where they pay tax INTO the public coffers.

It’s not as if the public aren’t already paying v.a.t. And other taxes on ticket/shirt/pies and beer already without the added insult of actually having payed for the place they’re paying to get into...

I’m all for incentivizing people to create or bring business to an area, but to enrich people to the absurd levels of this age on the back of the taxpayer is backassward!

And it’s WestHam we’re talking about here, so righteous indignation is okay:)
