West Ham United vs. Manchester United

Is Nani is just getting a rest after the internationals then?

For feck's sake, noodles. You don't half talk nonsense with this "cowardly" stuff. We've been playing with a lone striker and three central midfielders on and off throughout the most successful period of the club's history. How the feck did you work out that this means it's "mostly not worked"?

I think he means this season. To be fair, nothing we do in terms of formation and stuff seems to make much difference to our away performances...

Noodle always moans at the lineups, regardless of who's picked/what formation we play.

Just do what the rest of us do and ignore it.

Christ Gibson and Carrick...this isn't going to start well

Until this season and maybe last we haven't usually played such a negative formation against teams like West Ham...and look at our results and performances away from home this season...they've been somewhere between not very good and pathetic, and the few better performances have all been when we've gone with two strikers.

and I don't get the point in having three strikers on the bench. He's obviously not going to bring all three of them on. We've left all three of them out in order to play a completely inbalanced looking three man midfield which includes Gibson, who doesn't really play in midfield anyway...what's the point? Unless West Ham implode we're going to have to change it in order to get a result.

Why is everyone moaning here?

That team should have more than enough for West Ham so quit you moaning and whimpering.

We have plenty of options on the bench if needs be, and it was in this type of set up with Valencia that Rooney was unstoppable!

Sky sports pundits have gone for the following results:
Merson - West Ham win
Thompson - United win
Other two - draw.

I am not sure what the feck will happen in the game, it could go either way but I am certainly not confident about the game at all. Always a difficult place to go and win, or get anything for that matter and I am not confident with the team that we have selected -although having Park in is a positive.

Absolutely nothing new in our formations away from home this season. Performances have been poor away from home but the formation/tactics are fairly standard.

If anything, the last two seasons have seen us use an attacking 442 more than in previous years. Part of the reason we've struggled to keep clean sheets IMO.

It really bugs me the way people seem to think we're playing more conservatively these last two seasons when we've actually scored more goals than in the previous three. How does that work, exactly?

I didn't think we'll lose today before seeing the starting lineup. After seeing that team and West Ham's push for their own relegation agenda, reckon we'll lose. We'll bring the strikers on and we'll run out of time.

Jesus christ, why is the gap between the touchline and the stand at Upton Park so big?

It's enormous!

Getting them used to the Olympic Stadium?

It'll be funny to see a Championship side in the national athletic stadium.

Uninspiring line up but this is about doing a job and holding some players fresh for Chelsea.

3 strikers and Nani on the bench holds out some hope for goals though.

01 Green
15 Upson
22 Da Costa
36 Bridge
37 Jacobsen
08 Parker
11 Hitzlsperger
16 Noble
32 O'Neil
09 Cole
21 Ba

No width, poor defence ... and uninspiring forward line.

I'm trying to, I'm trying to...

With all the games coming up, this lineup is about the strongest we could put out there. I mean 5 in 15 days. CL, FA semi...

Why am I even still in this thread? I know people are going to start spazzing out as soon as Gibson misplaces a pass.

Di Canio! Top stuff.
