West Ham vs Manchester United

Apart from the fluffed chance, Valencia did all right. When he came on, we started making some inroads down the right. Hope he's coming to the end of his poor form.

We'll see some of the same Plan B players in the replay, possibly some of the returning regulars as well. A loss at home to the hammers will not happen.

we will be purring.

I expect us to win all 3 matches.
I think it will be a similar line up against West Ham in the replay. It's at Old Trafford so I don't expect Hammers to come with the strongest possible team in between the league games and we will be looking with an eye to the Spurs tie.

Fantastic finish by RVP, very poor half from us but we got a draw out of it and I reckon we'll stuff them at home.Valencia very out of form but some twattish remarks on here about him.

I'm relieved that we're still in the competition but am not happy about that second half. I don't understand what we gained from subbing Hernandez off instead of Kagawa. From late in the first half it was clear that the pace of the game was getting away from Kagawa and by the end of the game he wasn't able to control of joystick. Hernandez was stretching West Ham with his running and that became more and more necessary as they were sitting back. Very odd.

The biggest disappointment however was the distribution out of defence which was poor. Routinely our defenders would run forward with the ball at their feet with no idea what they wanted to do with it and end up turning around and going back the way they came when other players were calling for the ball. Its surely not good enough that someone can run 10-20 yards and not in that time look around and make a decision about who they want to pass to.

Grateful to Giggs and Van Persie for the rescue.

That Giggs pass to van Persie was sublime. Gorgeous football there lads. Now shit on the bastards in the replay.

Wasn't it just! The RvP first touch, control and finish was brilliant.

All that's best in football in that one move.

Looking forward to you beating them in the replay.

Valencia's shot at the end was madness... but he did cross twice with his left foot and both reached a united player.. so its all forgiven.

Having RvP is like cheating. It shouldnt be allowed.

and Kagawa was poor.. Probably needs some minutes after the long-ish layoff..

Sorry to be the one breaking this to you, but he's been poor for over a year now.

No not a year at all. Maybe this season, with some decent performances in there as well. I'm not saying he is playing anywhere near his best, but feck me some of the comments in here were embarrassing.

What a goal at the end, the pass, the touch and the finish were pure class.

Think we were lucky though. The decision to basically play without anyone sitting in the middle after scholes went off hurt us a lot, scholes was toeing the edge of being sent off but him being there have us some measure to our attack, once he went off no one sat there and our attack just couldn't get going. It was really strange from us because typically when were chasing a goal in a match the midfielder sitting just ahead of the defence is usually vital.

I'm really not a big fan of the diamond, not the way we play it. It just means that the two midfielders either side of the sitting midfielder get more freedom than the a/m. Kagawa was spending loads of the match having to come deep next to scholes, and it reduces his impact. Defensively without a proper holding player it's also quite open.

They look so disappointed in the ITV studio.

Very poor second half from us but a piece of magic has given us a second chance, we'll get it done at Old Trafford.

I dont agree with everything said about him, but today he was very poor and not for the first time this season.

Yeah that's fair enough.

I don't remember him being in good form at any point in 2012. Might have played some decent games though.

Here are the season ratings for him from some of the posters on here:

7, 8, 9, 8, 8.5 etc

Valencia - 8 - First half of the season seemed to be spent injured or playing right back. I was happy enough when he played right back, although the game at home to Norwich stands out as a weak point. The home game to Blackburn seemed to be the turning point. Pushed up field he was a constant threat and got us back into the game, god knows how he didn't win it alone. Then of course the Blackburn away game, same thing, constant threat, except this time he did win it. POTY.

Valencia - 8 - Started the season like he'd forgot to play football he was that bad but when he got good my word (Wilkins alert) was he good. Faded in the last 5 or so games of the season

quite funny looking back over the last pages, from the abuse and we're sh!T, tothe celebration!

thank frig for that though, was looking an ugly exit.

I multi-quoted a lot of Valencia posts in the last page, I should have waited because there were a ton more.

Pathetic from some of you.

Well said Gerbil. Some posters on here need to have a serious word with themselves.

was anybody else feeling a bit greedy, when thinking we could nick it in the last minute?

if Valencia hadn't barked that cross miles over the bar we might have had a chance.

I don't usually pull people up on stuff like that as I know a lot of it is just emotional because we were losing, but it was a nearly a whole page of abuse.

Some users on this site tend to have a habit of slagging of our own players, when they are playing poor.

People wanted Giggs and Scholes to retire, because they were having a few bad games.

Yeah, I always feel we can win it. As soon as RVP scored, I thought 'we can score another in the time remaining easily'. Shame Valencia's cross/shot was shit.

I think Valencia needs to get his head right, we've seen what a great player he can be but he's suffering from a severe lack in confidence. He seems to have lost what was great about his game but this is when we should be getting behind him, not writing him off.

Way too much tippy tappy football getting nowhere.

Took 8 passes to get to the same position that 2 would have done.

Mix it up a bit, look at our last goal, great long ball, excellent finish.

Valencia looks a shadow of the player we had beginning of last season. :(

He wasn't that good at the beginning of last season, he only really came into form in the new year. I'm sure we'll see a different player soon, as you don't become that poor overnight.
