West Ham vs. Manchester United

If we drops points will the pressure fall back on Moyes? Or has Wednesday afforded him a lot of breathing space?

Three days after a European tie and with Carrick at the back, any manager taking over United could have problems at West Ham.

It shouldn't be about this match or that match, it should be about the entire season.

Welbeck doesn't need to be rested. He's more than capable of playing 3 games in a week and performing well.

Interesting line-up.

Caroll will love the look of our defense. Buttner, Jones, Carrick? Understandably, we really do not have much better alternative. Nevertheless, it will be an interesting game and i am looking forward to seeing how well Kagawa and Rooney combines down the middlle. Welbeck is probably getting a rest, while Moyes seems to have lost faith in Hernandez. Not a fan of Rooney as an out and out striker because he lacks the necessary attribute to be a potent player in this role, but at least ue will give us some flexiblity upfront.

With Büttner inclusion, it might mean Moyes is preparing him for Bayern.

I think it will. The Premier League is his bread and butter, even though he has to look towards the UCL games he still has to do the business in the League. He has to win today, he has to win every game.

He's talking rubbish.

Apart from Carrick, who is playing at CB out of necessity, nobody else is playing out of position. Mata isn't at his best out wide but he can still play there.

He could at a push make a case for there being four players out of position but not five. Carrick and Mata are the obvious ones, then it is a question of where Ogden feels Rooney and Fellaini would be put to best use.

Seeing Buttner in the side, I'm assuming that means he will start at LB against Bayern.

Will not be surprised if he's actually playing Fellaini at CB with Carrick in the middle. West Ham are the new Stoke, so we can ill afford to have Carrick and Jones at the back...

Has Fellaini ever played CB before? I can't remember.

Think it might be Carrick at CB if i'm honest. Which might spell disaster for us.

If it's about the entire season he'll surely be sacked? A lot of the media have been running with this story that Moyes had three games to save his job, Wednesday was the first.

Aye, but it's little nudges here and there that'll cause them to fire him. This could make him a little bit safer and prolong the inevitable, or speed up the process.
The whole is bigger than the sum of all the collective parts basically.

Can we not recall Michael Keane? Seems nuts to have 1 fit centre back and not even have a youth player on the bench as cover.

Welbeck should be starting. Deserves it a lot more than Kagawa or Young or even Mata.

Whilst I want him gone, feel a bit sorry for Moyes today. With City on Tuesday and Carrick playing at centre half, it's going to be incredibly difficult this evening.

I know Michael Keane's at Blackburn, but I wish we had kept him around and blooded him through earlier as he would be better there than Carrick.

I think it's a good enough formation that will give us a really big advantage in attack and WHU will have to concentrate on the counter attack. Just hope to god the japanese will give us something of worth. If he's not up for this game, rusty or not, I think he should pack his bags and leave in the summer.

I think it'll be important to really dominate the ball here, make sure we've got three in the middle, with mata/kagawa breaking to support Rooney rather than outright playing up top with him. Definitely a game to grind it out given defence is looking a bit dodgy to say the least.

Carrick and Jones up against a physical West Ham who pump the ball into the box

We are going to struggle here. Could be a goal fest.

Not sure. At the very least he'll be marking Carroll during set pieces. Does it make any more sense to play Carrick there than Fellaini? Doubt it

He could decide to swap them mid game? Fellaini and Jones in CB..

All the more reason to keep possession and pass the ball around on the deck. Forget about chucking crosses into the West Ham box for 90 minutes.

No, only thing i can think of is Carrick at least has a bit of experience doing that kind of job. Yeah, i'd imagine Fellaini will be on Carroll because he'll be the tallest fecker we've got to go head to head with him in the air.

Just pretend West Ham are Bayern, it'll make it seem like we're better than we no doubt will be.

Come on Kagawa!! Put in a decent shift so you can reclaim your place on the bench for the next 3 games

..........DDG.........
Rafael...........Buttner
.........Jones.........
Carrick...Fletcher......
........Fellaini........
..Mata..Kagawa....Young
........Rooney

Tom Thorpe!! This guy has more potential than Keane IMO, although I do like Keane.

Would anyone here be unhappy if either were on the bench today? If something happens to Jones it's going to be a real patch job in central defence.

According to Moyes himself, he's going to be here for years, remember? He has a lot of things he wants to do, and it's going to take a lot of time. Yes, he needs time. With one of the biggest teams in the world, with an infrastructure almost unrivalled in the football world. And, with time, hopefully he can eradicate the blips we've had this season and get us performing consistently. In a few years time we'll reap the rewards. Surely.

He talks like he's taken over some minnows or something.

Anyway, I digress. No, by what he's saying I think he has the full backing of the board for the forseeable future. Unless he's lost like 10 league games from August to December, I'm sure he'll get more time with his little project.

And now I managed to get myself angry before the match has even started. This won't end well.
