Westminster Politics

Seen a few people discussing the Government's instructions to send people back to School in June being completely destroyed by the authority they have conceded over Cummings.

If parents are told to send kids back to School they can't enforce it as the parents have every right to "use their parental instincts`.

There’s no way they could enforce a return to school even before this whole Cumbreath fiasco.

Isn't he the general of the army of online trolls that flood comment sections up and down the country? (Senior adviser is a euphemism imo)

He‘s seen as the mastermind behind Vote Leave and Boris’s 80 seat majority. I’m now thinking that Boris really sees him as crucial and thinks with it being so early in the electoral cycle he can ride this out and it will be forgotten by the time we go to the polls, which is probably correct.

As for Cummings, he has a burning ambition to revolutionise British politics. He’s been close to the top table of power a couple of times but has been foiled each time, most notably when Cameron told Gove that if was to serve in his cabinet then Cummings would have to go as his top aide because he’s a ‘career psychopath’. Now he’s made it he’s not going to go easily.

Personally I’ve always thought he won’t last because by all accounts he’s completely intransigent, arrogant, aggressive and not interested in diplomacy. He’s kind of like ISIS in that he‘s made too many enemies not to be destroyed.

I first heard that quote from Cameron ages ago and it’s become more and more evident over time

There's a lot about the financial connections between Johnson and Cummings that doesn't make the 'papers (for whatever reason - I'm not claiming that this is necessarily malign); it isn't merely Johnson's loyalty which is keeping Cummings in place.

Imagine how much of a twat you have to be, for David Cameron of all people to think you're a psychopath.

Currently £1 = 87.1453 Russian rubles. As always with these cnuts, just follow the money.

Colour me shocked.

I must admit, I'm very confused about this situation. This guy must be extremely important or have a lot of dirt on people. The Tories could have nipped this in the bud pretty quickly yet they've allowed it to become a massive story.

He is the one running the government. He tells Boris what to do. Boris can't get rid of him because then he wouldn't know what to do, and the only thing Cummings knows how to do is lie and manipulate, so he's hardly going to back down in a situation like this.

This sort os shite is the reason why he had Boris remove anyone with a spine or hint of indepedent opinion from the cabinet. The whole strategy has been about getting into power, and now they have it the strategy is purely self preservation. You're expecting the man who's grabbed the gun to protect himself to use it to shoot himself in the face.

We may hear one of the patented 'I'm sorry if anyone's offended, by which I imply that you're all dribbling reactionary morons who dare to question my privilege' apologies.

Guess we’ll find out later today. This could be one of the all-time greatest performances of twattishness

Oush this is going to go badly unless he’s hand picked his journalists which is very likely.
Key task of journalists is to goad him off script, and commit a 'Gotcha' soundbite that will expose him for the liar and cheat that he is.

If journalists play this right, hopefully interview can go down like Andrew's self defence implosion interview with BBC.

Serious stocks of popcorn required.

I get he's a chief advisor, why is Downing Street allowing to make a statement to defend himself when he's not even an elected MP?

Maybe he'll blame 'Mr Ferguson', like Rafa did.

.
I would urge anyone who feels dissatisfied with how Boris Johnson is defending him to contact their MP.

Contacted mine too. This government is a disgusting entity.

I know who they are. The kind of stock they come from and the company that they keep.

I fully expected an apology. The fools to rouse and defend, and me to have to suck it up again.

That it’s a full court press of a defence. Prime Minister. His whole army. “We know you’re angry but you’re wrong because we are right”

Tell your MP. It will do scant little good. But it’s the same time cost as a list here.

Fcuk them all.

Maybe they'll change tact and come out to say they got it wrong, apologise and move on.
Even that might not work. There's fury from all quarters over this.

This will be as bad a Price Andrew's interview.
Hope the journalists are on their game.

On a wider note, I have never seen a government go to such lengths for a mere advisor.
The fact that he need to do a PC should tell you he needs to go. Wtf is this? No one elected him.

He’s more important to Boris than every single member of the cabinet

Pressure since BJ's announcement yesterday has obviously had effect. Probably Boris saying that it's now solely up to him to save his job.

Doubt Boris is the one telling him what to do rather than the other way round.

More likely it'll be with only approved journalists and approved questions, and he'll carry on playing the autism card. Although even then it's really hard to see how that wont backfire. People have let loved ones die without seeing them. THere really is no excuse he can use where the primary reaction wont be anger.

He's asking people to accept that the nearest possible place he could find child care was literally more or less the furthest possible place away he could travel to...and that somehow driving 260 miles whilst carrying an illness so severe you couldn't look after your own children wasn't completely irresponsible in itself

I predict it will go something like Ted's Golden Cleric acceptance speech.
 "He should be under 'Liars' rather than 'Twats'..."
