Westminster Politics

Ah, the old self-fulfilling profecy that gave us Boris in the first place. Good to see that line still being trotted out.

This is what we’re up against. Paul admitted he might be wrong about that and he’s online all the time. If he can miss that kind of thing think of everyone else who just reads the paper or chats with mates in the pub. The propaganda is mad.

This is me and I will admit it, I don't really understand politics.
Maybe I should start to understand it more

The fact you are able to admit that and acknowledge it is very big of you.

So many people double down instead of admitting they don't know or understand.

Johnson is the worst PM we've ever had, he's a disgraceful conman. He's brought a level of sleaze and corruption to the job we've never seen before, he really is the lowest of the low.

I'm not saying Starmer is perfect but he's lightyears more dignified and honourable than Johnson, 99% of politicians are more honourable than Johnson.

148 out of 359 MP’s in his OWN party don’t think he’s fit to lead. 41%. I know we all know this, but fecking hell. It’s insane isn’t it. When you actually consider the numbers and then consider the fact that there is no way he accepts that this is a bad thing

How the feck are 170+ MPs on the government payroll? Is that number usual?

He definitely sent in the last couple of letters himself to make sure this vote happened now and not after the by elections.

I can understand the notion that Starmer is boring, uncharismatic and unappealing but he has almost no record, the man is just bland. How can anyone distrust him more than Boris?
I don't trust Starmer at all, for a variety of reasons including his track record of breaking his promises already and his backing of authoritarian establishment positions.

However, he is clearly an unquestionably better option than Johnson and the Tories.

He'll turn this into a positive and blag his way to another election win.
The audacious press statement'll be how they can focus on what matters and move away from the media generated controversy. All said with a straight face. Or perhaps a smirk.

Edit: If Starmer (and the others) get fined, I bet he'll call an early election against a rudderless Labour party.

Edit 2: ...and there we go. Come together as a Government and Party. Put it behind us. Move away from media focus on to what matters to the people.

Its the reason I dont really get involved in political stuff, as you can see I am way out of my depth.
I dont like Boris, I agree is a conman and not fit for the job, I did not vote for him, but we are stuck with him.

58.8% is more than 66% according to Boris. You live and learn.

Under a useless first past the post system which promotes 2 party politics and forces the 2 main parties to operate as wide coalitions within themselves, there will always been times when many people don’t like either the Tories or Labour or either of their respective leaders.

However I fail to see any compelling arguments why Johnson, is more fit to be PM than Starmer, given that he is incapable of telling the truth, is grossly incompetent, thinks he is above the law and his own government’s rules and also is the laziest PM we’ve ever seen. Once the election campaigning and slogans are out of the way, he doesn’t have a clue what to do next.

He'll only call a snap election if it turns out Starmer broke lockdown rules.

That's exactly what it is. An absolute stroke of genius by the Mail and Murdock, that I've heard even sensible, intelligent, life-time Labour voting friends parrot. "I'm not voting for my local Labour MP at this election, because the leader (who has won every parliamentary election in his constituency by a landslide, by the way) is unelectable." Incredible how easily manipulated people can be.

It's so frustrating.

People just parrot lines.

It’s the same type of people who blame Labour for things despite them not being in power for 12 years.

There was a guy on the news the other week praising the Tories for how many food banks there are.

"If Labour were in power we'd have nowhear near as many food banks"

Why don't you like him?
Rowing back Labour's manifesto pledges as well as those he made during his leadership bid, shifting Labour to the right and generally seeming to stand for nothing. Shit like this:

On a personal level, he reminds me of managers I've had, who want to be seen to be saying the right thing rather than doing the right thing.

Like praising someone for putting a person in the recovery position after they’ve sucker punched them.

Shit like this really pisses me off. Stuff that matters to the people, such as selling off a publicly owned TV station against the will of over 90% of the public, and bringing back archaic units like pounds and ounces.

That's not a good way to measure electability on a national scale when you consider the fact that Corbyn also has won huge landslides in his constituency .
