What do we think Fergie makes of all this?

Would anybody really disagree with any of the offloads in that picture?

This. That backline of that photo for example. Can you really say we should have kept any? Vidic perhaps but #1 that was before LVG's time and #2 he isn't the player he was.

What's funny is that people would probably still love to see Rooney, Young and Valencia not at the club  Some fans on here can be strange ones at times.

Ferguson grossly overestimated his squad. Just like he did over the years with what it took to win the CL.

Carrick/Jones/Valencia will probably be gone in the next 12 months too.

Rooney would be too if there's any sanity.

All hail Ferguson.

Chelsea only have 6 first team players still there from their 2012-13 squad and City have 9.

That Valencia and Young have survived the cull is brilliant in its irony. They were the first two names on a lot of people's out list, me included.

These boring feckers are still slogging it out here. Good on them, in fairness.

With the greatest of respect, who cares what he thinks? He's not in charge any more.

I wonder what Ron Atkinson thinks about all this.

Haven't our youth teams continued to win or get close to winning each year?

And I refuse to believe the following players could not make our current squad a lot stronger.

RVP
Hernandez
Evra
Kagawa
Welbeck
Rafael
Nani

Nope.

And I don't think those players would make our squad "a lot stronger" at all. Some of them just aren't good enough, the rest have been upgraded. If not immediately then with players who are a better long term bet.

We could probably still do with a top striker, mind you.

He probably retains his faith in van Gaal, unlike some of you loony toon glory-hunting xenophobic slack-jawed gibbons. And just like the grand old man, I too will remain 100% loyal to King Louis...unless we lose to Liverpool, in which case I'd want the Dutch twat to be covered in jam and fed to rabid woodlice.

Just looking we did win the under 21/ reserve league last season

We will have to agree to disagree on those players. I think if we still had that lot we could challenge for the title

Imagine having Nani and RVP to throw on yesterday for the last 20 mins for example.

Iirc our u-21s won the league last year. But on the whole our youth setup and facilities are very dated.

Selling Kagawa and Hernandez were the right decisions, they weren't United quality. RvP looked deflated the season after SAF retired, I think it came at a huge shock to him, if he hadn't had retired I think RVP would've had a decent'ish second season then would've been sold. Rafael and Evra imo should've been kept as backup/ starters for cup games and Welbeck has been blighted by injuries at Arsenal so can't really comment on him, although the constant knee injury doesn't look good for him. Nani was too inconsistent for United too.

I think SAF would've got the best out of di Maria, he'd have tied DDG down to a long contract so we would've got another year out of him or a lot more money, he'd have most probably have stayed away from Falcao.

On the flip side, he'd probably still been persisting with Zaha, Fletcher and Evans.

There's plenty of things that could've happened, some good and some bad but for all we know it might not have been as successful as some would hope.

An easily offended single minded blind faith fan then!

On a serious note though the international break is a convenient time for the two managers to sort out how not to lose in less than two weeks time. It will probably be a 0-0 draw

They're the only two on that list you could possibly make a case for and Fergie obviously had his own doubts about Nani and RvP has been unquestionably shite for ages.

The reserves league means nothing really. The structure is completely different to the senior one. Our U-21s were a class below the best in the country last season and the season before. Ditto our academy.

If I was SAF I'd be slightly pissed off that all of this money became available right after I retired.

The reserve league has merged with the u21's about 3 years ago

This thread.
Reminds me of memes of Brendan asking Liverpool legends how he's doing boss. Time to move on.

Well, I'm not that certain. But think so, yeah.

Would love to know his thoughts! Even if he's not in charge anymore.
In 10 years or so when we start to get back on top under a different manager, he would be writing another book about the Van Gaal era for us to know. But until then, we would still be in the dark except that he's a very unhappy man.

...until then, we would still be in the dark except that he's a very unhappy man.

That's just a guess though, isn't it? For all we know, SAF could be firing six-shooters into the ceiling because he no longer has to read threads written by people like me.

He's is in the board of directors so he is approving all of this and rightly so.

It's hilarious really. They'll never get over his retirement. Many many years of disappointment await.

We laugh at RAWK but honestly at times we're no better.

Grown men and women pining over a former boss who left over 2 years ago, we have to move on - he's gone.

"Help us, Obi-Wan Frogie; you're our only hope."

I'm beginning to think more and more that Fergusons "philosophy" was probably just a case of having solid defenders and the best possible attackers and he's probably right that it works for this league perfectly over the course of the season.

It's very different in Europe mind you.

Come now admit it, we (including you) all want to know what Fergie thinks. Do fess up you've told your mates in the pub and your dog that you missed Fergie and wanted to know what he thinks.

Or he's busy telling journos to feck off when his phone kept ringing.
