Where do you expect us to finish this season?

Ideally 3rd but since this is the real world we'll probably climb to 6th. If we finish outside the top 4 I hope Moyes goes. He'll set us back even further if he stays. He can't attract top players and (based on his football and Fellaini) I generally don't trust him with a transfer kitty. We shouldn't be 9th. He wasn't left with a perfect squad but there is enough quality for him to mount some sort of title challenge and finish comfortably in the top 4.

4th is the most we can realistically hope for at this stage - Arsenal are out of sight, and Chelsea and City are better teams playing better football. We played ok last night, but, even enjoying home advantage, we didn't look better than Everton, so, barring a magical transformation, 4th will be a struggle. Most likely 5th or 6th.

5th. I think we have no chance of catching Arsenal, Chelsea or City. One of Liverpool, Spurs or maybe even Everton will probably sneak in front of us.

At this rate it's about damage limitation. I'd be chuffed with 4th right now and then some much needed adjustments to the squad.

outside top 4 is really unthinkable and would massively leave Moyes clinging on.
The loss of the status and champions league revenue would be a monumental blow even for us.

Kagawa played well first half and then for some reason Moyes decided to shunt him on the left and swap him with Welbeck. Rafael is just back from injury and was strangely taken off. Moyes seems to see Valencia + Welbeck > Nani, Kagawa + Januzaj and has never given Nani a chance to get some form back despite Valencia being gash for almost 2 years. A midfield of Welbeck, Valencia, Fellaini and Giggs is so uninspiring and unimaginative. Wouldn't mind seeing Welbeck go out on loan and play some minutes upfront as I do still think he has a future with us despite his poor performances recently.

Dont those two kind of make sense together though? They played well but they werent tearing up trees, Hernandez coming on late/not starting over Welbeck is probably his only real mistake.

Not sure, it's a long aul season, but the lower we finish the less idiots we will have as supporters. Now that's when a loss is a win.

The idiots what go they will just get more loud. So don't know what you would prefer to be honest.

4th now which still isn't good enough but Champions League qualification is a must.

A league and champs league double would be my preference, I'm just looking for a silver lining.

In my dream last night, we finished 10th in the league. Liverpool finished 4th. But, somehow, we managed to scramble a win in the Champions League Final against Real Madrid.

Probably one of the most satisfying dreams I've ever had!

I'd settle for that. I think.

In context, of course it is.

Maybe right this second it seems so because we're 9th (I mean wtf...) but transition period or not fourth place finish is a poor season for a team that's just pissed the league imo. I cant even imagine what April/May are going to be like of City and Chelsea are battling for the tittle and we are there with Spurs and Everton hoping to make 4th.

I think you underestimate the post Fergie reality. Or maybe I overestimate it.

Then we better start producig some better players from our academy. In the last 20 years the only player we have produced and were successes are Neville x2, Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Butt while there are still questions about Cleverley and Welbeck's future. These idiots/glory hunters/etc are a big reason why the club was so succesful and was able to sign some of the best players in the world. Less of them is also less money for the club, and I am not sure that this is a good thing for the club's future.

Wankers = success. That's a new take. I never mentioned glory hunters btw.

Well, around 20% here voted for his sacking. Don't know if this reflects the opinion of other fans.

Don't think that in any way club wins anything by losing some of the fans (even if it is as low as 5-10%). More fans, more revenue, more players to sign/bigger wages for them/more money for Glazers to pay the debt.

Sorry about glory hunters, you never mentioned. But I had the same discussion with someone before who said that mediocricity is ok as long as we lose some of the fans, which is becoming the default answer for a lot of people here in last few weeks. Total nonsense!

This is like the Liverpool Boom/Bust cycle.....and I don't like it.

Winners......Top4.........soon it will be EL.........then, we'll be building for next season.

I'm just talking about modding the site, and wasn't 100% serious.

Brown,Oshea,Fletcher were successes. Even if Fletcher was the only regular the other two where very valuable squad players. Evans so far has done very well.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. They didn't had the impact of class of '92 but they were excellent.

Still, the point stands though. 10 players in two decade means that United's successes are depended on 'foreigners'. And money signs players, not romanticism.

RVP will come back and help us win the league and there will be a massive wankfest on the caf. :p

5th (possibly 4th).

Three horse race for the title between Arsenal, Chelsea, and City with us, Liverpool, Spurs, and Everton duking it out for 4th.

Agreed with this. That's exactly how I think it'll end up. City will win it comfortably if they click. Think Spurs will finish 7th, Everton 6th and us and youse fighting for 4th with the lower finishing 5th.

Seems reasonable but so hard to say. Spurs may just click and then you have an extra team going for it. Arsenal may tail off. Southampton and Everton may keep up the charge. Going to be very, very tight for the CL this year.

Haven't Southampton just lost 3 in a row?
I think there form has already tailed off. They were never a genuine top 6 team. Us, City, Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea, Tottenham are all stronger. They're doing well but I don't think they going to get European football this season.

City probably have the best side and are the best team when they switch on, but I like Chelsea's chances with Mourinho knowing what it takes to win the league. The next three games for the top three will say a lot. Chelsea have Stoke and Palace before going to the Emirates, where as Arsenal have Everton, Man City before meeting Chelsea. If Mourinho's side enters 2014 at the top, I think they will win the league.

We need to finish 4th, if not we are done. Once you fall out from that group there is no coming back, even for Manchester United.
