Messi, nobody has been as consistently brilliant as him, I have doubts he's going to win it regardless
47 goals doesn't make you the BPITW. Ruud scored 44 in 02/03.
Its the goals in the big games which count and Messi bottled it 3 times when it counted the most.
Sjneider is the bpitw right now. Anybody who can't see that has been living under a shell. Champions league winner and World cup finalist being the catalyst for the Netherlands charge. He deserves it above any other player, even Xabi.
Bottled the CL semi & the WC QF.
Casillas will probably win it.
Messi will be like Zidane - always in the top three or five just because voters look at highlights and namesake. Zidane's Juve only won the league in 2003, was outshined by teammates Nedved and Buffon, but he took home the FIFA award.

Did you follow LaLiga this season? Week in and week out Messi was performing for Barca, it was machine like, more consistent than Zizou has ever produced in his entire career, what ever he receives he certainly deserves it.
People have short term memories, the season didn't end that long ago.
Zidane never played with Nedved nor Buffon
That's not how the voting works Boss. You ought to have it realized by now.He failed against Inter and in the WC.The expectation were high but he failed in some of the most highly watched matches.
It's voted for my players and managers, you have to realise that Messi did his thing basically consistently all season, always stealing the headlines, there's no doubt that they would be aware of his exploits.
Another key factor in these awards is how they perform before the winner is selected, I'm talking about the start of next season and some of the CL group stages. I have no doubt Messi would be in rapist mode to remind everyone what he did the previous season.
I honestly think he's going to win it.
Take Ronaldinho in 05/06, he was by far the best player in the world up until the World Cup started. He led his club to a glorious league+ CL double with some truly outstanding performance but it only took a feck up during the WC to kill his chances of winning individual silverware.
Cannavaro won it and it tells you that whatever happens during the season is lightweight in comparison to the WC.
Messi might start the season brilliantly but he'll always have and need Xavi in his team, no matter well he does his success will never be seperated from Xavi's influence.
Xavi has a bigger chance to win it than Messi I think, then there is also Snejider and Villa.

You cut down a 60 game season to 3 games? What's the point even showing up then.
What about the goals against Valencia, the Final of the World Club cup,Sevilla in their stadium, Madrid in the Burnabeu and the dismantling of Arsenal
People can talk about Xavi all they want, but for Barca Messi is their saviour
You're nearly as bad as Frankly when it comes to Messi.
It'll be Xavi, and deservedly so.
It simply has to be Messi. It saddens me to see everyone falling into the same old trap of forgetting about a player who had an unbelievable season just because he had a disappointing World Cup, or pushing others to the fore for the reverse reason.
Eh? Wesley had an excellent season for Inter Milan, winning the treble, and he had an excellent World cup unlike Messi. The same could be argued for Robben.
No chance this time.
Messi
Sneijder
Xavi
Iniesta
It will probably be one of them. They have had outstanding seasons and performed quite well at the World Cup as well. That will surely put them right at the top of the shortlist. Unfortunately I think Rooney's chances evaporated along with England.
You could argue Robben had an excellent World Cup? My arse.
Yes, if I wanted to be pedantic. I would obviously lose
But Robben was the kep player in the Bayern team that won the league and domestic cup, and got them to the Champions League final, such achievements are deserving of credit
