I have never seen a player getting so much heat every game even though he performs much better than many. I understand he has to do more but still the amount of critics he attracts for non football thing is ridiculous. For ex. The commentator was more interested in mentioning about pogba's hair but when the same pogba made the sublime pass which led to the penalty, there was no mention of that and yet he was scapegoated for the first half when griezmann, mbappe anf others were even worse.

I understand pogba can be irritating but the amount of hate he receives from some media constantly is too much. Never seen a player attract so much criticism even though he has never been crap.

You have to also consider that it was Mark Lawrenson to be fair, who is to be ignored.

You started a thread because you've never heard Lawro do commentating?

Probably because he plays for Utd - when he was at Juventus hardly anyone had a bad word to say about him.

You have to also consider that it was Mark Lawrenson to be fair, who is to be ignored.
But it is becoming a pattern, be it lawrenson or souness or even our own Scholes. It is getting ridiculous now.

He needs to focus more on his football and not on his haircuts. He would have at least an extra 10-15 minutes to focus on football if he let his hair grow and that would make all the difference.

Where's your white text?

Griezmann was analysed and criticised at HT for not making enough runs in behind or showing good movement. Only Mbappe was offering the runs.

Unsure what the commentator said about Pogba during the game - I didn't hear much?

It's a disgrace.
They hate the fact he doesn't give a feck what they think.

He likes fancy haircuts and he’s a United player. Two key credentials to being hated in football.

Hated, Adored, Never Ignored

It's not hate, it's criticism. Some people need to learn the difference.

I was tempted to start a thread when Lawrenson mentioned his hair. ‘He should concentrate on football’.

What exactly has his haircut got to do with his football ability? Can’t help but think it’s undertoned racism.

Well considering his talent, age and fee - he should be the lynchpin for his club and country - and he’s hardly set the world alight. So he is under the microscope. What’s so hard to get?

The same performance while playing for Madrid would've been seen as 'game winning' performance. Remember the last Euro, when he was praised during the first game (while being on Madrid's radar) but the second it was certain-ish he's going to United the narrative from our commentators changed. Somebody will say it's playing the victim card but let's consider other French players today, including the amazing Mbappe who did feck all or Umtiti (of dear Barcelona team) who was being a clown for the penalty. Not a word, at least in our broadcasting. The reality is that Pogba was France most influential player today, however you twist that.

I actually love this hate.

Too many Sourness in media and redcafe.

Mbappe cost twice as much and was far worse than Pogba. Dembele also cost some £50m more than Pogba, was nonexistent and got taken off. The money discussion is silly and is purely what a club needs to pay to acquire a player from another club that doesn’t want to sell the player.

How one getting a haircut stop you from concentrating on football can I ask?

Well it’s an undeniable fact (not saying I agree, but I am mentioning why people scrutinise Pogba more). Mbappe is tearing it up and still a teen, Dembele gets slated too!

It has to do with expectation. Rather than looking at Pogba for what he is, they project onto him what he could be.

Pogba is top 10 in his position, but when they see the crazy things he does on the pitch they expect him to be the best in the world.

His nationality also plays into it, I believe some were expecting him to be Zidane's successor but he's got a long way to go to get to that level.

For his potential price, mbappe isn't tearing it up at all and demeble doesn't get half as much criticism as pogba.

People are jealous of his money and fame which is understandable. It's not even constructive criticism at this point. It's got to point where you think the game is not even being watched. He wasn't spectacular today but he was the best out of the ones who played for France.

Because he is big black and talented, im sorry but its true. Also he plays for United. I was glad to see the presenter make the comment that its only ex professionals that have issues with him.

So why don't they hate Lukaku too?

I don’t understand, pls see my post and then your reply....
You're saying it's obvious why he's under the microscope. I'm asking why things such as his haircuts get brought into the discussions about his football? That's unnecessary isn't it? That's the point people are making.

Mbappe didn’t ‘tear it up’ today. I don’t care what he does in the weak French league to be honest, the fact is he cost £160m and needs to do it at the highest level regardless of his age. Demeble doesn’t get slated anywhere as much as Pogba even though he cost £140m.

My point is that the money side of Pogba needs to stop being discussed as a reason to slag Pogba, as £89m was fine for him considering these days CB’s cost £75m and fullbacks cost £55m.

Wouldn't they hate most semi-decent footballers if that was the case? :wenger:
