Wigan Athletic v Manchester United

It's been nice.Every player has looked good, Wigan has lots of possession but are clueless about it.Our strikers are way too ruthless for their defenders.
 
Let's not presume this is won, funnier things have happened. We still need to concentrate and not get into our usual strolling round in possession, causing problems for ourselves. Another goal kills it completely, we need it as quickly after HT as possible. Be ruthless and show no mercy.

He is quickly reaching a level with me, similar to how I almost treat Scholes when he misses a chance. Their errors are easy to forget and forgive. However, he will need a about 3 seasons of consistent showing to get close to my Scholesy.
 
Giggs still has it on the wing. Funny that SAF was convinced that he didn't have it as a wide man anymore but thought that he could do a job at CM. I think that both Giggs and Scholes can do another season, it is just that they will have to be bit part players. Not wanting to be a bit part player was why Scholes retired in the first place, whilst I think that Giggs just wants to keep on playing regardless.
 
Great scoreline because Wigan look very organised. Especially nice to see RVP & Chicha link up well for Robin's wonderful goal.
 
I want to see Kagawa at some point.

But I don't for the life of me know who should come off for him.
 
After the first 25 sluggish minutes we really started to play very good football. Giggs contributed to that a lot.
RvP and Hernandez looks to be a really good partnership, RvP's goal :drool:

Fox commentators are dire, somehow worst than the likes of Quinn and McManaman and believe me, that's saying something. From hating on Al Habsi for not pulling a superman on the first goal and power punching it out of the area, to claiming Wigan were basically comfortable and the better side, despite the fact that Wigan at no point throughout the entire first half created anything (Bar a brilliantly defended cross by Ferdinand).

Happy with that overall.

I'm watching it on Fox and the announcers I'm listening to are definitely British. Boring as hell, but this isn't the fixture to bring out the A Team.
 
Slow start but picked up well. Think it's a bit too early to try and rest Carrick/Evra/RVP but hopefully if we can get a 3rd or take good control from the second half we can get the off quickly. There's no natural replacement for Carrick though apart from Scholes, which could be an issue alongside clev. Would be quite interested to see how Evans did in the middle, got the technical ability for it.
 
Is Ando back on the bench? He was due to be fit for today...s
 
Took a good 20 minutes before we got going but what a finish to the half. Rio and Evans are in complete control in the back and forward, all of our attackers are putting pressure on them.

Hopefully we'll get Kagawa in there too soon. :drool:
 
I just hope we don't let up, a clean sheet and a bag full of goals is what we should be aiming for here.

Let me remedy that for ya! :p

First 20-30 minutes it seemed like our goal was to become the new Wimbledon and we whacked it over our midfield constantly in the hope that sooner or later we'd spot a Hernandez run early and he'd score (which admittedly he did but was offside). It was miserable. Van Persie was running around like a headless chicken chasing long balls. Not.His.Game.

Then we remembered that we had a midfield and started moving the ball on the deck, keeping it and trying to create openings. Low and behold we took control of the game and scored twice not long after that. It makes me wonder why we often resort to the ball over the top so often when you see what we're able to do when we actually try to pass it. I remember thinking the same when we lost at Norwich a game in which we tried the Wimbledon Way for over an hour with no success.

Thankfully today the team seemed to get wise to the fact that Hernandez and Van Persie are better served by precise passes as neither is Christian built-like-the-proverbial Benteke. Lets hope we don't go back to plan A of hoofing it and hoping in the second half.

Just looking at the City - Stoke stats: Stoke have had one shot in the whole game and it was blocked!
 
Excellent defending and organisation by the whole team, paired with clinical finishing. I love how we do this without the impact of Rooney, Kagawa, Nani and Anderson... our squad depth is just unreal.

Let's score a third and put this game to bed, but so far, so excellent :)
