Will that sort of goal be coached out of Martial?

thats a suprising amount of touches for one half even though on the wing. i guess he is the go to guy

He has not faded away. I still think he's brilliant, and barring one game or two, has been exciting and creative.

Finishing could improve, though. He has had chances and not put them away. Was bound to happen, anyway. Had he put away two or three more chances, we would be raving about how he is better than Ronaldo. Also, doesn't pass backward or hesitate to take on his man. Nothing has been coached out of him.

In fact, that heat map shows how good he is adapting to an unfamiliar roles. It's a positive from him, not a negative from LVG. He doesn't have a similar map week in week out, ffs.

Was that one red dot just on the box when he scored? And one of the top two where he made a run into the center and passed to Rooney, who failed the one-two? (He showed good play-making skills there, as he's done a few times).

I think Ferguson had the right idea with young players like Martial, giving them a bit of freedom to develop their current best qualities, allowing them to make dribbling runs, take shots on goal, or whatever else it is they're good at, basically making the most of their talent, while also teaching them to play as part of the system and not make retarded decisions (like that time Ronnie took a shot instead of a pass, and was ripped into by Fergie and brought to tears after the match, pretty recent and popular interview).

But now it feels like it's a case of him being forced to play selflessly as a part of the system, with almost no freedom to utilize his talent, it's really not getting the best out of him and I don't think it's going to help him reach his potential.

If goal scoring is what he's good at, he should be given the chance to work on that in matches IMO and being shoved out right for Rooney is gay as feck.

OP was spot on. No freedom, no playing his natural game. Martial is officially a part of the philosophy.

How does that graph show or say anything about the OP?

I hope you actually watched that segment of the show when Henry was talking and not just looked at the heat map and came to your own conclusion.

Henry said you stay out for wide for buildup team shape and end up in the box when the goalmouth action is. There were clips where Martial was near the touchline when the ball was in the box
