World Cup 2018 & 2022 bids

Have Spain and Portugal?

If not, they should do the honourable thing and withdraw.

What the feck does some 3rd world country want with the upper tier of a stadium?:wenger::lol:

Apparently they are going to be built in such a way that the each tier will form a stand alone stadium

I cant remember the exact numbers but i think they were on about building 12 stadia and that apparently would give 20 new grounds to developing countries after the WC

Meh, no world cup history.. no contribution in general to the game of football throughout history.. and more importantly the country will not produce a legacy for itself, fair enough it'll help other countries..
That didnt stop them from giving the 2002 WC to SK and Japan.

The United States presentation I thought was very shallow, it was good in projecting figures and achievements but failed I believe to convey any passion or emotion in the United States or within the bid itself. Even Clinton seemed pretty flat. I also found it funny how they manifested their support from the Federal Government - we have our Attorney General, Eric Holder here, who can answer any questions. They sure know how to generate excitement.

i havent watched it tbf i was watching them interview folks in a seattle coffeeshop. Now seattly is possibly the most passionate fans we have for the MLS. I would love to see us get it again but it really should be down to the aussies but then i might be biased.

England Aussies then the Colonies would be nice.

Who's going to make the World Cup song if England wins? Cheryl Cole?

So a bit like Japan then?

Japan have the J-League.. they've also produced some quality footballers and the country loves its sport, not to mention it was a joint bid with S.Korea.. ok it might not be N.Korea but their neighbours have provided the World Cup with one of its greatest memories in 1966.

What has Qatar ever done in terms of football? no potential for the country to produce a legacy for itself..

I don't mind the world cup going to new regions as long as the country itself has the potential to really become a big contributor to the game of football as a whole.

Someone needs to photoshop a space age stadium into a city in the likes of Chad or Uganda.

So i've got to admit I'm geting excited now, best steel myself for the dissapointment.

I'm just getting sepp for the disappointment, if we don't get it, I'll have a beer or two tonight and get blattered.

I think I just spotted a Wayne Rooney lookalike.. behind Gabby

Oooooooo. May have overdone the puns then.

The last time I commentated on a thread while watching a big T.V. event was MJ's memorial. While it's fair to say the Neverland ranch could never possibly host a FIFA World Cup (unless it was for under 14's) what MJ lacked in major sporting event hosting capability he more than made up for with being in a casket which resembled a BBQ.

Me too. Don't know why.

I've put it down to straw clutching optimism. Also the hope that in 8 years time I may be taking what will be my 12 year old daughter, to world cup games.
