World Cup 2018 & 2022 bids

What's this 'football hosts football' you all keep mentioning? For those of us who couldn't watch/listen...

A giant hotel shaped like a football will be built in Hyde Park and all the competing WC teams will live there. I think.

All the teams will be 'hosted' by a club...Stay at their base, train, use physio's etc...So Brazil train at Carrington etc etc...or something like that. Not too sure on the specifics...especially since they're 32 teams in a WC. Presumably someone gets Milwall or something?

England and Australia would be the dream verdict. Football coming home and coming to my home.

If Brazil stay at Carrington, does that mean New Zealand stay at Doncaster Rovers?

Yes...You'd imagine there'd have to do it on rankings or something...It won't be fair across the board but it's still a good idea..

Unless it's like Zarlak says and it about when you're playing there...Which it could be..Either way it's putting our strengths (our League and facilities) to good use.

From what I gathered, it was a promise that the participating teams would be hosted by Premier League teams, so whoever was playing at Manchester would be using Uniteds training facilities and training with United themselves in preparation of their game, although how that will actually work I have no idea considering out starting 11 will be in various parts of the country anyway training themselves for their own games. They used the line 'nobody knows how to prepare for games more than world class players'

The PL clubs will each "host" a national side at their club.....training facilities, medical stuff etc.

Cheers lads, sounds like a good idea on the face of it.

I am pretty sure Belgium/Holland will be out first - it is the next round which is the vital one to see who goes head to head in the final round.

I expect any Holland votes to come to us.

Russia is all well and good in terms of them never having it before, however it's impractical on so many levels, the cost of getting in there, the fact that they have hardly any fit stadiums ready, and the amount of time zones it spans being just a few examples.

England/Oz has been my preference all along

England in with a good shout but dont think there is much support for the Aussie bid unfortunately.

Did you see their guy talking yesterday on SSN? Doing his country proud...

'We don't have the roads, we don't have the staia, we don't have the facilities....' then a bit later 'but we can develop it.'

England and Australia would be the dream verdit. Football coming home and coming to my home.

If the US win it, I'll feel the same in spite of despising my own domestic league and its players, teams, national team, tea ladies (water boys)...

I expect the major football countries to vote for us (or Spain)...

..because of this.

Milwall should be paired with Serbia.

I think it is a brilliant idea. The England bid is so obvious it is unreal.

If not for crooked politicians all of this would be so easily done, and frankly England would have already hosted yet another WC.

I can't find where to watch the England presentation, I missed it

Russia's main advantage is the 'legacy' and taking the WC to new regions thing - I dont think there has been a WC in Eastern Europe before?

I am hoping that the voters can satisfy themselves on the legacy stuff by going for Qatar or Oz for 2022. Leaving 2018 open for one of the traditional footy superpowers (England or Spain)

Rood - but the legacy stuff isn't just about new frontiers...but also about what the winning country will do for World Football as a whole.

Hence the concentration on helping a billion people via football by England, and the examples of football clinics..etc etc.

The notion of Spain before England is so ridiculous.

My wife went to games in 1982 for God's sake, it isn't that long ago at all.

1966 is soon to be 45 years ago. Lonnie Donnegan did the official song it was so damned long ago!

I hope Arshavin sais something bat shit crazy.

"I would like my country to win the bid, so that we can kick out all of the women, [insert unacceptable racial comment]'s, and [insert another one]'s, roll over their homes with steamrollers, and bring in some nice quality hoes from the rest of Eastern Europe."

I would buy him a medal.

Holy shit! They should ban Russia from even being allowed to play football for this.

I have my fingers crossed!
